I am exclusive with IS and so far I am happy I chose to stay exclusive. I agree for non-exclusive that rates are horrid.

I live on the border of NC between Hendersonville NC and Greenville SC. Never had any problems with gear. This is a great place to shoot and live!

General - Stock Video / Re: Video on istock - question« on: March 02, 2015, 21:09 »
I certainly have had my ups and downs, questions and frustrations. iStock/Getty is not a bed of roses but the exclusive commission is fair. That being said I am in a position where I can not afford to drop my exclusive status. I am not unhappy with the video team at iStock/Getty they are great. I do see some light at the end of the tunnel and am hoping for the best. Spreading out may be best for others that is for sure, but for me it dose not work. I do like focusing on one site and spending more time shooting and creating. I say whatever path you choose work hard at it and you will reap some rewards. I still make a full-time income. Getty sales are more up and down, some months I earn thousands from Getty and others hundreds.

iStock has good commission for video exclusive! I have been exclusive since 2006 and my average sale income is $50.00 per sale no matter the size. On Getty it is closer to $70.00 per sale. Exclusive works for me.

Sales are stable for me with an increase in RPD for video. I like the changes iStock is making and hope for the best. My image sales are up and so is my sub sales on iStock

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock sales is sinking deeply...« on: February 17, 2015, 06:36 »
My photo and video sales are up at IS, last year was my best year ever and last week I had earned $605.00 in one day on IS alone which is the third highest day ever for me. I think IS is hurting SS. Only time will tell. I am not hear to sing praises to Getty. I feel 500px and others have taken sales from mico as well. Interesting times :-) Now back to my regular shooting schedule.

They did not slash prices for exclusive content! So it hold true. I now earn $50.00 for a web size video! I have nothing to gain by anyone becoming exclusive.

Bigstock.com / Re: It just got worse free video« on: February 12, 2015, 19:06 »
You see people come to iStock because of exclusive files that can't be found all over not because of price! That is the position I like to be in.

I can say I am happy to be exclusive at this point. I can understand rewarding large buyers and I have seen that on Getty Images but nothing this low to the general public so far! If you submit to SS you should be screaming on the forums!

Not a fan of this move by SS!! Total crap if you ask me!

Shutterstock.com / Re: How are your footage sales at SS« on: February 09, 2015, 13:10 »
I wouldn't call myself a footage pro but thanks :-) If you want to make money with footage you need to have people shots. People are what sell and that is where the money is. Find locations that others don't have and consider your end market. Handheld work is more acceptable now but it has to be good work not sloppy. What sells in photo sells in video to a large degree. Most of all have fun, keep learning, take risks and keep at it!

Bigstock.com / Re: BigStock Selling HD Videos for $0.15 !!« on: February 04, 2015, 18:36 »
I know people love to flame iStock but for video now I am averaging $50.00 as an exclusive and with Getty even more! I feel the pricing is very fair for video artist there and am happy to support that direction.
