SS if you are reading, allow sensitive use opt-out based on model releases or per image or something similar.

totally agree with that!

552
If you dont opt in for sensitive use you dont get any SODs. Not large and not small.

If you get small SODs you are opted in for sensitive use.

Nope, SOD and sensitive use are two different things. I'm selling SODs even I have option out for sensitive use.

553
all of you talks about that like it isn't possible to deactivate your photos from getty?  :o

I see someone making connections with embedding youtube videos, but owners of youtube videos do earn money from google ads.

554
Of course, it's in the contract.
Exclusive ASA (and no doubt the Indie ASA also)
5b
In all cases, payment of royalties to the Supplier will be net of: (i) applicable taxes or other withholdings required by applicable law; (ii) bad debts or other uncollectible sums; (iii); (iii) cancellations or refund of a license where the original sale has been reported to you, including but not limited to where due to a fraudulent transaction; (iv) overpayment of royalties in a prior period; (v) legal and other reasonable fees incurred in enforcing this Agreement or the agreements contemplated herein; and (vii) any amounts owing by the Supplier to iStockphoto under this Agreement or otherwise.

Though that would seem (IANAL) to limit them to taking the money off future payments, not to require repayments of cash already given.
But their previous practice has been to claw back out of any money not taken, before they put you into the red.

And what about underpayment? Where is transparency in this?

Is there any possible procedure to find out how many sales you have on, for example, iStock, thinkstock and photos or company can say their accountants whatever they want?

Looks like stock photography need to be regulated much more carefully worldwide.

Let me guess... nobody cares about transparency in Canada unless you launch a lawsuit? There are no tax inspection either?

For example, some small new stock company have 1 contributor and 1 subscriber who payed 249$ for monthly subscription for 25 photos daily, for contributor they record subscriber download only 5 photos daily, and for accountant they record all 25 for every day, so they can pay small income tax and in the same time small royalty (expenditures) and nobody can check if it's all regular and transparent?

if it's true... than wow... it is serious problem and one of the best industry for frauds.

excuse my english

cheers! :)

I was wondering the same

+1

and I'm not talking only about IStock, I'm talking about every agency in every other country.

Even smallest companies are under laws of the country they headquarters are and if something isn't like it is written in the contract or some sales are not payed or even shown it's called a fraud or deception or misappropriation and it is punishable by the law.

Are we photographers/illustrators some kind of sheep? It's not a question to you or anyone else.

556
I do not understand one thing.

In every organized country in the world, with law and statutes and constitution there is something, excuse my English, called "work inspection".

These people checks if everything is regular, or by the law or contract with contributors. Everyone can call them if questioning some company doesn't work like it is stated by the contracts with worker or contributors.

I really doubt that Canada doesn't have these kind of inspections and that it isn't possible to check sales on sites like photos.com or thinkstock.com.

Is any contributor here from Canada and what can he/she say about it?

excuse my English, please.

Number of average daily sales are somewhere near October sales, not much less, but not a single sale other then 0.28c and this is very suspicious.

Balkan / EX Yugoslavia / Model release na Hrvatskom
« on: October 17, 2013, 02:39 »
Pozdrav svima!

jel potrebna kopija putovnice/osobne modela?

moe li itko podjeliti svoj model release kojega prihvaćaju ove jače stock stranice ss, istock, ft, dt, 123rf itd...

uz model release, osiguravate li se dodatno nekim ugovorom?

hvala puno na vremenu i razumjevanju!

ivili!  ;)

Go to "Thinkstock.com" and search on your name -- first name - last name -- in in single quotes;
'firstname lastname'
You can see the count of your images.  Not sure if that is what you mean?

As an aside, there seems to be an active effort to transfer all files -- both old files and new.
I've had over 50 transferred in last two days.

that's it, thanks!

Livestock is great for PP, shows you what, where, when and how much for each PP download.

I have downloaded LiveStock and it is great tool, I see all those stats, but where can I check percentage of my files on PP?

PP BME up 40%.

do you have many files uploaded this year?
Not many, around 2K but only 40% are on PP sites.

Where can I see how many of my files are on PP sites, I am non-exlusive.

Thanks!

so, some of you are reporting that pp sales has started?

I usually get 3-6 PP downloads daily (April), with almost 40% less images in portfolio, so if it has started and bug is fixed then something other is very wrong here because I still have no PP sales for whole May.

wow  :o

same image:

02/07/2013 12:19 AM MDT    Small   Regular   $0.20 USD
06/06/2013 10:22 AM MDT    Small   Regular   $1.30 USD

only submitting vectors from now on

until they change vector prices.

I really don`t understand the People on this Forum getting hearts for brainwash marketing talk while others who demand a raise getting downrated. Whats wrong with those people? When a company we supply is doing well with the sale of our material we should get a raise. Pretty simple to me.

best thing i've red here

123RF / Re: Were to find sold images?
« on: June 03, 2013, 06:56 »
scroll down the site and check right side, "for photographers" -> sell images -> download (download stats of your images)

571
easier way is to open google image search in one tab, your portfolio (shutterstock, istock, or any other...) in other tab, then and drag and drop specific image from your portfolio in the box that will create after you drag it over google image search tab.

sorry for my English, but i believe you understood.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Most Popular search messed up
« on: June 14, 2012, 05:51 »
yep, most of my popular images that were selling almost daily are below my much older non sellers.

I hope nobody is messing with popular images like other sites do with their best match images. it would be terrible.

Shutterstock.com / Bugs at Shutterstock
« on: June 12, 2012, 15:21 »
first of all excuse my English

here is the list of bugs I experience on shutterstock, I also opened topic about it on SS but noone seems to answer, maybe better luck here:

1. missing images from gallery (not too bad, they can be find in searches and can be seen in portfolio, they are only missing from contributor gallery)

2. no new images in darkroom image gallery stats and catalog manager (same images missing in gallery are missing in darkroom and catalog, and all images are approved more then a week ago)

3. image gallery stats not updated regular like before

4. keyword trend tool show only last month

5. most important and most sales affecting bug is completely messed up popular search, images sorted by popularity looks more like random, newer files with more sales are below older files with none sales, check your specific image that is approved in last month, even if you sell it daily it would be buried below old non sellers

6. relevant and popular are almost the same now, but I do not know how relevant works so can't say anything about that. but they never looked as similar as they looks now

nobody answered on shutterstock forum at least to tell us that they know about bugs and trying to fix them, anything would be good. this is taking too long with no change and no answers so file that can't be seen in popular search will loose all chances to get back

hope someone from SS see this topic here

of course, with all these bugs, SS is still better then most other sites, but this is extremely frustrating
