LMAO.... I was thinking oh poor Lisa that will be a big life change......

I got a lovely Coach bag!  Never would have asked for something so extravagant!  I had asked for a breadmaker and a new spatula!

I just opened the last one in another browser and duplicated it on a new form.  If you miss anything, when you hit preview it will pop up and you need to fix before you can submit.

Okay, so most of us are in agreement that we don't get paid crap by almost all the Micro stock companies but at least Shutter pays my rent with my earnings where with Yay I couldn't buy a few apples!

No - I don't agree. I DO get paid crap by almost all microstock companies.  Esp SS, but at the end of the day, SS and DT are the only sites I make real revenue on.  SS has its redeeming qualities (like sales that net $112 every once in a while) - but they do typically pay crap (Goofy's definition is as good as any I can think of) .

I wonder if the agencies could go back in time if they ever would have created subs.  If someone is downloading 750 images a month for $250, surely they would have paid for at least 25% of them.

I guess subs are an awful lot like retainers.  Retain a lawyers and he receives a monthly fee if he performs services or not.  If customers sign up for a 1 year plan it certainly helps with everyone's cash flow, and also the CFO will have a hard time taking that subscription out of next year's budget.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Makeup on adult men or not?
« on: December 18, 2013, 13:07 »
The other option is to use a circular polarizer in the studio (but that's a trade secret that nobody talks about).  ;)

I find that the polarizer brings out too much pink in the skintones.  Sometimes I use with soccer portraits (harsh overhead sun, fill flash) so I can get a blue sky and lose some stops in the background - works fairly good with kids, but when you throw the coaches or adults in the shot they can look quite terrible with a polarizer!  If you are working with makeup though - that should eliminate those ugly natural tones though shouldn't it and the polarizer would help get rid of specular highlights etc?  I like the way a silver umbrella brings out details in studio, but the highlights on the face are so prominent!  Must try with polarizer!

Well, tickstock, the media kit states that it reaches more than 23 million.  Shouldn't advertisers buy an EL and not use a sub for this type of advertising?  ($199 for 2-pack)

A sub from Shutterstock is way too much money for most online users

This cant be serious!... ok, lets give them everything free then..  Where will this madness end? :-/

When the desparados will see the light and quit such agencies.

We forget that Shutterstock IS expensive.  Without checking, doesn't the buyer have to pay $249 per month?  I think that's expensive.  Not for what they have access to, but we only see the .25 or .38 downloads, I'm sure the customers see the 250 bucks they dropped on the first of the month.

558
It's a bummer that I am not with Yay, because I have enjoyed quitting these terrible agencies this past year.

Don't ya just feel like we are dying here from a million small wounds that these agency owners think they can inflict?

559
At first glance, it looks like they are dealing with two entirely different questions.  Isn't the 2nd answer a canned response that they give when you use the "reporting tool".  This isn't a take-down notice, this is a clear violation of the license and it seemed that they grasped that in the July post. I would follow up again.

Also, make sure your most important keywords are in your title, description and keywords.  DT search also favours those with a high acceptance ratio.

Just to chime in - slightly OT - I photograph a lot of dancers, they are used to a TON of makeup so their features don't disappear under stage lights. The girls can get away with a lot of makeup in stills, but I really dislike the look of the boys shots if they have used eyeliner and blush.  Sometimes it fits with the routine they are doing, but you still can't convince me to like it  ;)

Thanks for the update.  I can imagine what a tough choice it was for you to make. Glad to hear it seems to be a good one for you.

I think Paulie Walnuts setup a site with this plugin.  We had a thread about it just around the time Leo introduced Symbiostock.

Must be a new batch of Reviewers, there was a Reviewer's job posting on their site a couple weeks ago.  Seems like every year this time the rejections get wonky.

New model releases can also add time to the review.

Ahhhh... I'm impressed.  That's very good for you, I'm glad to hear that they are taking care of you after the BS you went through last year.

About the same as last month.  Majority of income from Stocksy.  Otherwise:
DP - $100
Pond - $75
Self - $35
GLStock - $25
and the newcomer:
123RF - $100

Whoopie!
I supposed this is answered somewhere else, but Sean, why not SS?  Or are you only submitting video to the other guys perhaps?

I'm trying not to submit to sites that would sell my content by subscription.
I'm not trying to be a smartaleck here, wonder if you have done some evaluating that is more scientific than mine!  But DP and 123 also sell subs, and the RPD was for me at those two sites about 75% lower than SS's.  At least it was when I submitted to 123, I dropped in January and may not be current on what is happening there.  Those two sites were particularly bad, and after DP gave me $2.64 for an EL last week I intend to drop them also.  (Pretty soon I won't have anyone left LOL)  I really understand not wanting to give your library to a subs site, but if you make 100 at DP you should make $1000 at SS (I make about $10 there for every $100 at SS).  Sorry, I know you've already evaluated this already.

Not a great month, DT & SS still strong enough.

One thing I did notice was that for the first time in months, if not years, I sold more credit downloads than subs at FT.  Usually subs sell triple.

I've bought stuff here before, this is "commercial use" and if you register you can download free samples to evaluate her work.

And she has a 25% deal on till the 2nd dec (didn't say what time it ends though), code is MAGICAL

Dreamstime.com / I'm confused.... xsm sub level
« on: November 30, 2013, 21:14 »
Just saw a xsm sub level V pay $2, right above one that paid 0.35.  Has something changed (in a good way) that I don't know about?

admin edit: changed the subject a bit to be more descriptive

That sucks. Is that typical?
On the product page it says that EL's are $80.  I think they are supposed to pay 50% of that.

Sad part is that we all still submit images to them  :-\
Well, I've left Istock and 123 this year because they p'd me off and looks like Deposit Photos makes 3.

Do they payout if you close your account?
