Here is my 6 days experience with SS. In 6 days SS surpassed 123rf, Fotolia and Bigstock by money earned. On those 3 sites I have been 2.5 months. I have uploaded 193 files that were approved to SS. On those 3 sites I have around 300-400 images each. It seams that SS favors not only new photos, but also proportion of newly uploads to the size of porfolio.

Is Istock price increase working already? It does not look like an increase for me. I got a sale for large size today for $1.32, large size in 2007 was $1.26. Does not look like the advertised increase ....

I do not know was it a right or wrong choice. But being decisive helps in life.

1.6 times more sales than in November. That is because I started with microstocks in the end of September and upload around 100 images a month. Still had not reach $100 per month, but it looks like in January I may do it.

I am 3 days with Shutterstock and there are downloads every day including Sat and Sun which juist begun (it is 6.30 am here). With other microstock sites I am 3 months and only once or twice i had sales on weekends. yes, looks like they have customers not only here in US.

I got accepted at SS yesterday. Uploaded 24 photos total. got 6 dls so far that earned $1.50. I do not like selling XL photos for 0.25 cents (especially on sites where you have to waited weeks for a download) , but if it will pay for my hobby, why not.

It is 8 days without dls for me in IS. Btw, DT has made me twice amount of money than IS. Is it because I am making mostly food and background images and IS has lots of exclusives photographers doing exactly that and often with better equipment? With my Canon 40D I can't make XL, or XXL backgrounds for IS. On other sites they accept maximum 40D image as XL.

I read here before that one has to constantly upload to Shutterstock to not experience the drop in sales. I have about 450 images to upload, in addition I am making 15 new images per week. Would it be best to upload 30-40 per week ?

before I did not remove noise. with last submition I have removed noise with Noise Ninja plugin for CS2 and also sharpened with Smart Sharpen filter in CS2 ( I did not do that before either).

Istock gives fair reviews in my opinion. they also go wrong sometimes, but not as often as DT or FT, where approval fluctuates almost unpredictably for me. But that said, DT made twice as much money for me than Istock. Istock weekly upload policy does not allow to upload all images that I make during the week. Example of fluctuations: FT one day accepted all 7 paper backgrounds, next day rejected all 5 paper backgrounds. Why? I have no clue. Same happened to me at DT. Istock gives more specific reasons for rejecting, so it helps me to learn things. .
