...The soviets found dead Hitler and set his corpse on fire without even trying to collect evidence. And there still seems to be some debate if he fled to South America or other place.
I heard that he is alive, living in Canada, and working for Getty.

Some good info in this thread about how the weakening dollar affects us, the microstock suppliers. But how does it affect the non-US microstrock buyers?
I wonder for example: If the dollar starts to get stronger against the euro, how would that affect SS subscription sales in Germany? How would PPD sales at DT be affected if the dollar weakens against the Braziliain currency, for example? Or would such currency fluctuations have no effect?

Leave your money on Moneybookers or on Paypal if US dollar is your account currency and wait for a better time... Probably next will be better...
One potential problem with that is that Paypal can refuse you access to your own account at any time. They can do this if there is a problem with your account, even if it is not your fault. You might keep this in mind if there is a chance that you will need the Paypal money in a hurry. I used to keep a lot of money in Paypal back when they paid some real interest, but I stopped when I learned that they can refuse people access to their accounts. Paypal is not a bank.

I also like Fotolia's stats where you select a time period and a sorting method (dayly, weekly, monthly, yearly). Easy, fast and totally customizable breakdown of earnings. Another useful tool from Fotolia is the relative rank. I like being able to compare my performance to others. True, both of those are very useful. I also like qwerty's idea of total revenues for a selected group of images, which is sort of like FT's total for a group of days. That would be useful.

For my part I love the way Shutterstock shows stat. I would agree that it would be pretty hard to beat the way SS provides stats. Especially with the new Image Gallery Stats in beta. If I were starting a microstock site, I might just 'derivate' on the way SS does it I agree with lagercreek that more feedback about keywords used by buyers would help us all. Suppose you not only showed the number of views for my image, but also the keyword used to generate the most recent view, and a thumbnail of an image which the buyer bought instead of buying mine? Too much to ask? PS the new CC site is working very well for me, excellent work IMO.

Now that tens of thousands of pictures are being uploaded every day and review takes anywhere between a few hours and 3 days, there are so many random factors that holidays are only a minor issue imo.
This may be true of photos, I don't know, but I have found that if I submit vectors on Sunday or on Monday morning, they will almost always appear for sale on Tuesday or Wednesday on SS. Thursday at the latest. My average sales for a weekday on SS are 5x those of the average weekend day. And a few extra sales may make the difference between your images being buried or clawing their way to the top of searches. At least that is what I have been told.

Tnx, that was the reply I was looking for. So I'll just UL on the 3rd on Shutterstock and try to shoot something in the meantime.
Sounds like a good idea, I think I will do that myself. Happy Easter

Stop the madness!
www.fairtax.org
Really. Think of all the thousands and thousands of hours we have spent this year keeping records only needed for the tax collectors and then filling out those all those forms. When we could have been taking photos and making illustrations! And the money spent to hire accountants. All wasted. :'(

Good thread IMO Warren. My positive thought: I used to make computer graphics just for fun, now I make money doing it. And a lot of people around the world find my efforts useful. What could be more positive than that?

I guess iStock has decided that customer money isn't going to make them happy.

My RPD is $1.40 (I do mostly vectors) down .23 from my 12-month average, but down only .05 from last April.

Good luck on finding out what happened. DT's image-quality-control systems seems kind of flakey at times, to put it mildly. In the last 7 months I have had more rejections than in the previous 5 years put together. But the weird thing is that when they tell you that you can resubmit, they make you use a number from the rejection email you received, like the numbers they gave you I guess. But, from my experience that of other submitters I have read in posts, DT doesn't actually send rejection emails.

Why there is suddently so much fuss about SR-EL on Dreamstime?... They've had that option for years and there's been many sales of that kind - I had one in the early days when removing an image from other sites wasn't a big deal (now I wouldn't do that - selling on too many sites). Yes. I've had at least one offer to buy SR-EL on DT over the years (maybe 2 offers, I can't remember for sure). I didn't take them up on it because if you figure in the time of removing the image from 7 sites, and the lost revenue from sales on those sites, it just didn't seem worth it.

BME for me at BigStock. And I don't have all my illustrations up there, because it has been the hardest site to submit vectors to. Now, with the Bridge from SS, I have hopes of doing even better at BigStock in the future

I am a little perplexed though....what part of my plan (though very little has been disclosed) would prompt "outraged disbelief?" I mean...if someone wants no part of it, then why get worked up over it?
I think that some IS exclusives see any new site as a possible threat to IS. That means a threat to their income. And, also, it is emotional: (most) IS exclusives love IS to a certain extent, so they must hate all other sites that same extent. Then, some people are iconoclasts by nature, and feel compelled to attack any new idea.

a solid proposal which specifically addresses previous problems will still be met by slepticism Slepticism, noun, a combination of drowsy disinterest and outraged disbelief. Yes, that probably describes it pretty well.

*Easy batch submission of vectors *No categorizing required *Fast reviews *Friendly, fair, and efficient administration Graphic Leftovers and CanStockPhoto both meet these criteria. If revenues aren't factored in, it would be a tough choice between these two for me.

Definitely. GL has the fastest payouts in the business - it's something I wish was more standard in this business.
Yes, something like one hour. It's crazy
When you get an email from GL telling you that you have another sale, it tells you your balance. And if you qualify for a payout, there is a little button in the email itself to click so you can request a payout right then. No one is as eager to pay you as GL

...I am having my biggest month ever right now at Fotolia... My impression is that a few weeks ago FT changed its best match to favor older images. Such changes are one of the things which makes it difficult to guess what the effect of stopping submitting will be.

Seems like every 6 months Shutterstock goes on a rejection binge, which sends their forums into a frenzy. Then a few weeks pass and everything returns to normal.
We can only hope. But one good thing about SS to remember is that you can wait until this phase passes, and then resubmit your images later.
