Obviously this photo was taken with a flash - I read somewhere it was an Alienbees B500,000 as the eagle was still about 500 yards away.

Shot with a 1200mm lens and a 3x teleconverter.

Due to the lens distortion the wings of the plane behind the eagle are not visible.

 :P

you forgot the tripod :)

No I didn't. It was actually shot hand held. There was no time for the photographer to set it up. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

dont see the point of this topic but my biggest was 40$ and lowest 7 (cents)

What do you mean the point?

I'd just like to get an impression on what $$ people are making on the biggest sale. Seems to be in the 200s$ right now.

I'm very surprised to see a 0.07c sale. Wow

I believe RPD is a lot better "point"

You're right - I just meant that I wasn't starting a post to get some sort of point or do some computations, I was just curious.
Indeed, to learn something RPD is important. Mine is 3.63 since exclusivity.

a lot more interesting is knowing that looking at your portfolio.. you do have some success with such a small port.. my RPD is on 1.25$ (not exclusive)

Thanks.. in the odd case you're curious, here' more stats:
http://depo.fotozygous.com/stock/micro.htm

I think the real stat at the end of the day is $$/hour, where you have an estimate of the number of hours you've spent on your pix (including the rejected ones). In that department, I'm not doing so well yet (around 12$/hr im guessing, probably more because I'm harsh with my hour estimates). Stil, even doing nothing that number goes up :)

I see, you can have a look at my blog (check my profile here)

My logic dictates that if you have superior quality images, and your competition has inferior quality images it is actually a GOOD thing for you.
Am I wrong in my way of thinking ?
Low quality getty content = good for us.

true but not 100% and why? because they will take away a little sales, actually the more there is on stock the less you will got, as we read everywhere top contributors arent increasing their earnings after a few years, the majority is actually decreasing them.. I am not talking about yourself, myself and other that started less than 3 years ago..

the blog as no information no nothing, weird stuff but I do enjoy to get money from uploads :)

I don't personally know the guy nor do I blame him.  I blame Shutterstock for creating that unfair rift and showing clear favoritism.

we all know him, show me the money, show me the dog!

now more seriously if you open his port you will find nice pics too

I've considered hiring part time help but I'm not sure how to do it without creating a liability risk (USA).  Do you guys have them sign a independent contractor agreement?  Is there a standard form?  Do you carry insurance for them?  I've just been a low key solo shooter so far.  Thanks

"Hey, I need some help with the model releases and props on my shoot.  Hows $25?"

I do it for 20$ :) (send me the flight ticket)

Fotolia has been better than ever the last few months. I thought it was because I finally hit Silver but maybe it is for other reasons?

I am dreaming of reaching it too but heck what is the reward? this year went from 28% to 23% and silver is 25% thats a joy!  ;D

I just noticed the 4.3 precent drop for Fotolia happening today on the poll results. It had a green arrow in the morning, I'm sure of it.

that is %? the other day asked about that, would love to know

I thought it was :s . What is it then, some kind of mark, index/points?

the big numbers like the 4.3 must be the average of the earnings poll result.. and the other 0.0X might be the % of increase/decrease no?

I'll put you back on ignore now.
On an unrelated note... I never noticed this nifty little feature, which is so desperately needed particularly in this forum. Thanks! :)
It doesn't work very well though because people quote those you have on ignore and you end up seeing their posts anyway.  I really don't want to read another word by Macrosuar/Old hippy/Black Sheep but people keep quoting him ::)
he/she is a lot better now

Why is it that EVERY single topic about Istock these days turns into a mud slinging match at some point?

Maybe because photographers, in general, seem to be a negative and pessimistic bunch of people.

I believe the problem of some (not only in photography) is an EGO issue, some people just dont stop and think before talking and even worst its after because they never regret it.. in this forum everybody takes things too personal and are attacking constantly other, if it is exclusive, if not, if know more or less about this or that, people just need to calm down and do whatever they enjoy, if it is just bringing bad mood to forum perhaps should leave, must said I am not talking for anyone in special, I do enjoy all comment and this is a lesson for me everyday, dont enjoy the attacks, take it slowww guys, in a all in the same world and we only live once :)

Morphart, that's a transaction fee.  Paypal charges currencey exchange fees as well.

no they dont.. I never had a transaction fee.. the thing we get is the low conversion.. like $ to EUR 0.71$ on the market, on paypal 0.69$ (example)

payoneer dont?

Finished processing my first batch. Interface is slight improvement over StockXpert but far from what YAY or CanStockPhoto is offering so I would put them somewhere in the middle on usability scale.

On side note. How they get away with source code and sell company to Getty without signing non-competing agreement? If the site is almost StockXpert clone, with a few improvements if they get stronger Getty will go after them.

they havent sold StockXpert, they have sold the content on it.. and as we know to place on Thinkstock (Hemera collection) so they made two things, eliminate competition and get more content to subs
