Dreamstime.com / Upload limit question« on: September 24, 2008, 14:42 »
Before I experiment , may I ask , is it about the number of images that we can process and send for review , or about number of images that we can upload by ftp ?
In other words can I upload 150 images by ftp in a single batch ,and than process 50 every day ? Thanks 578

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Has your camera ever needed some repair?« on: September 10, 2008, 07:10 »
I have worst possible experience with Canon service few years ago when salt water went inside my camera.
They gave me the offer for repairing my camera in two weeks , that I accepted. Then they started to prolong the period and to raise the price every few weeks , forbid me to call them (they said that they will contact me ) and the whole thing lasted 3 months. After their last offer when they prolonged time again and raised the price I wanted to give up but they wanted to charge me many hours of their work etc etc. At the end they called me to pick up my repaired camera and returned me the camera in the same state it was the day a left it there , and didn't want to return my money. After many complainants , calling regional center etc , they sold me new camera for "special price" and that was the only way to pull my money out. 581

Well , if I understood my reading , it will be large images , that are more than useful for tons of stuff , with license that is almost identical to EL in microstock , and we will get 0.30$ ?
So again , I hope that I'm wrong , but I doubt , large images can be printed on resale items , shirts and stuff , and we will get 0.30$ ? So again if I'm not wrong , and lets say that an average EL on micros is somewhere around 25$ , that would be almost 90 times cheaper to buyer than purchasing that image with EL on micros ? 582
Cameras / Lenses / Re: rewiews about CANON 1 Ds MKIII« on: July 24, 2008, 10:37 »
Well , If you are ready to spend all that money , my honest opinion is that you consider to replace those lenses that are not worth mentioning , and back that up with the reasonable price camera cause 1 Ds MKIII great no doubt, but the question is , do you really need that one for your work or whatever.
I dont know what camera are you using now, but lenses are long term investment , and they hold their price much longer than any camera ever will , lenses will be useful to you years from now , and most cameras will loose their price quite much in short period. I remember when I was dreaming about 5D , it was way out of my budget , and recently I bough it for more than half of the price I had to pay for it a year and a half ago. 583

Peter
I will go out of bounds , but for start you should us vegetables that are a bit more fresh . I see brownish edges on this one , so I suppose its not so fresh. Then vegetables being real fresh , will give you way more nice greens , and you will have much better starting point for your photoshop work , and If you start to saturate real flat starting image will lead you to getting artifacts. But than again , about your question to MIZ , if you dont supply the man with the larger image , or 100 % crop of the image , you will never know if that processing will lead to artifacts. Personally from my experience , you should have some more freedom to pump those colors up before you get artifacts , cause they look too flat , end that especially stands if you shoot them in RAW. 585
General Stock Discussion / Re: which is more wow? incredible place / incredible photos« on: July 16, 2008, 17:06 »
Both
First mentioned , may even be low quality crappy photos , but if the object intrigues me thats enough to pull my attention , even knowing that photographer sucks in that part of his work. I saw quite a few photos of that type that stayed in my memory. Second ones , well I will sure look them in some other way , and the composition will be much more important then the object. Personally I find a great photo , one that has best of those 2 worlds. Some great photographers , were lucky enough find themselves in right position at the right time. 586

iStockPhoto.com / Re: IS Illustrator Test« on: June 30, 2008, 17:13 »Ok, just failed my "second" attempt to pass the IS illustrator exam. All rejections - "not what we are currently looking for". Could somebody who recently passed the IS illustrator test share their experience and, if it's not too much to ask, show the images that passed review. Just wanted to say , be careful , I wasn't careful enough , first two times I uploaded backgrounds which they apparently don't approve on initial test , than in the third attempt i got 2 accepted 1 rejected , then I had that one rejected again and I have to wait 3 months for next attempt. God knows how much will I have to wait if I fail next time , so you better use your attempts smartly . My advices , ask options of your possible submissions on their forum , don't submit background, design elements, buttons, check your work for open paths , don't use textures , use smooth paths , avoid gradients , avoid strokes, be careful about proportions ...... 589
iStockPhoto.com / Re: For the life of me...« on: June 30, 2008, 14:14 »What really frustrates me lately , is rejections for "We have reasons to believe the image was created with components or brushes that are not originally yours" or something like that. Thanks , I think I will do that from now on. Susan , thank you for your advice too, but I think it would be too time wasting , taking screen caps of brushes and textures etc , and uploading them as MR , cause often I don't even know all the exact brushes or textures did I use for some backgrounds . I have 10 000+ textures in my arsenal , same goes for my brushes , and on some images I use few large textures and maybe even 50 smaller brushes , brushed textures etc , so it would be a problem to track all those every time I produce an image. 590

What really frustrates me lately , is rejections for "We have reasons to believe the image was created with components or brushes that are not originally yours" or something like that.
I contacted scout few times and clearly stated that I never used a single brush that was not created by me and from my photos , that I can prove them that by sending them the brushes set or photos and scans of my textures or something , and they have been approved then. But they keep rejecting stuff for that reason , and I cant be constantly complain. 591
General Stock Discussion / Re: Lets hope someone steals our images« on: June 27, 2008, 00:14 »
Nop , thats a fact , you get around a bit less than 3 times more than you invested , and im talking in "around" numbers cause it depends of various factors and it varies 10% up and down , if you need real prices I can give you those too so you can calculate yourself. My point is that 3% you mentioned , for "wherever you live" doesn't stand at all , not even close , and If you know anything you know that 3% income in that business is so risky that no one would be doing it. There are always , but always , unplanned expenses that are higher than 3% , so companies would be closing doors one after another. 592
General Stock Discussion / Re: Lets hope someone steals our images« on: June 26, 2008, 20:37 »
Very wrong , in the part of Croatia where I live , you can build a house outside the city with all expenses for about 200 000 the land value for that house is about 150 000 and sell it for way over million , even before is built. Residential apartments in center are something like 3000 for m2 and when you sum all expenses the companies are investing between 1000 - 1200 for building 1 m2. And you can only buy them if you have connections , pay in advance , so the marketing is not the problem at all. But I'm speaking only about the situation here where I live , you may be right for other places. 593

This is word of slaves anyway. If I pick direction and decide to just walk for the rest of my life , someone would stop me in a certain moment a forbid me to make one more step. If I would refuse , they would take that freedom they claim I own. And all I wanted is to walk .

You know , there are countries where every company is obligated by law , that they should have a book of complaints , and it should be available to any customer in any time. You don have to frame it near the entrance to show it to the world , but if someone wants to write a complaint or see what were the previous customers or partners experiences with that company , you are obligated to show it to them. On the other hand if complaints are not only moral but messing with the law issues , the government inspectors are reading this books every now and then.
And , I wonder why are you always writing this moral business topics ? Weren't you the first one to brake them or don't agree or insulting inspector etc , banned from forum, then from a site so I guess you learned it on a hard way . I just don get it why are you opening all those company defending, moral ,get as they give you , don't complain , you are getting on my nerves , be professional etc kind of topics ? |
