I am a non-ex. I leaped the limit for 19% on 27th of Dec... huh, that was close!
I am losing 1% which is a 5% cut. Since new uploads are not selling, IS has fallen back to the last position in my uploading queue. It means I do not upload there too many new images anymore. They do not care, I do not care.... status quo.

Yes, this is why they are rewarding me with a 5% cut :)

Very respectfull figuers!

Have you considerd going exclusive ?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Looking to purchase Istock portfolios.
« on: December 31, 2010, 12:24 »
Please reread my post. It doesn't say that you don't have any funds. What it said is that
1. you implied that you were a very successful IStock contributor:

pepito:
i doubt if anyone who gets less than substantial income from istock would be offering to buy an entire portfolio.  i'm assuming they already have selling power on their own.

you:
pepito: good assumption.

= fantasy, see your dial which clearly shows, no not a good assumption

2. that this is not a serious business offer as you had not thought through any of the implications. Anyone can verify this for themselves by reading the thread from the start.

1. "substantial" is a subjective term. I make over 500$ a month from MS and plan to pass 1,000$ a month in about 8 months time. For some
this is peanuts for some this is a lot.
2. Not only have have I went over all of the implications, I also spoke of this with my accountent, my CPR, a lawyer, and IS themselves.

Try not to be so narrow minded and judge people by the silly dial beside their nick...
And if you if you can't just have some patience and watch my dial rise :)

It's okay, anyone can read the thread, and look at the dial under your name and know exactly what the score is.
What I wrote is simply a summary of what has emerged as this thread has gone on.
I'm not commenting on anything that hasn't been very obvious from the discussion above, no complex deductions necessary.

Again, you deduct your conclusions on facts you have no knowledge of...
The dial on near my nick name means what ? how much available funds I have for a purchase ? my seriusness ? my business experience ?
You don't know me, you dont know my figures, you dont know who (if at all) was and is in contact with me, you dont know anything actually...
So why make statements that are based on nothing ? this thread is old and much has changed since. If you have a question, feel free to ask. its a much better approach then try and insult another forum member.
FYI my stock income (which is over 500$ a month and growning constantly) is less then 2% of my monthly income. but I am not trying to start a pissing contest.
Just wanted to make sure that people don't think I don't mean business!

And for the rest of you, yes I am still looking for portfolios :)

Aeonf knows how to become popular round here ;)

I will continue to supply while I continue to earn significant amounts of cash there. But I am trying to develop new revenue streams because of the doubts iS has created about the future earnings potential of microstock. That means more of my effort is going elsewhere so my overall output of stock shots is down. So everyone is likely to get less from me.

Yeah I know I am not going to get the popularity vote...
Just stating my own opinion, which I am well aware is the minorityone  here.
When I said fair, I ment for exclusives, for indys it is not, but IS cares much less about them, add to the fact that the vast majority of them won't really do anything in regards of the pay cut.

This was so obviously a non strater. The person asking for portfolios hadn't even done the smallest bit of research into it before coming forward.
And after claiming they already had a large income from IStock (I guess to make themselves sound more like a big player with purchasing power) it turns out their dial is hardly registering in the green.
This thread should be left to die, it's a fantasy.

Why speak of things you obviously know nothing of  ?

As the istock commission cuts are happening 1st January 2011 and we have all had a few months to think about it, I thought it would be interesting to see what people are doing now.  I have stopped uploading and started removing some of my portfolio.  I will leave gradually and hope there are new owners soon that have a better long term strategy.

It ain't a cut for everyone...
And a personal note: I think the new system is fair for all parties.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Fraud going down at IS
« on: December 27, 2010, 14:52 »
oh yeah, and dont' forget that iStock is doubling all RC's on vetta images during the Vetta Sale.  So all those exclusives who got these downloads just got a major boost!

The plot thickens... :D

here is my prediction - it was fraud, nobody gets the money, but they do get the RCs since it mostly benefits the Vetta/agency golden ones. In fact handing out RCs like election year candy will be the new way for IS to try to keep contributors happy while they slowly (or quickly) decrease their percentage.

As they say, predictions are hard, especially about the future.

I STRONGLY doubt anyone would get the RC's for these false downloads.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Agencies average RPI
« on: December 21, 2010, 02:09 »
Your forget that RPI changes from month to month.
My RPI for December so far (not such a good month) is 31c as an IS exclusive.
Same as my average but much less then August till November which was between 43 and 50 cents.

I'm guessing they're going to test their sales processing script really carefully.  And once they're confident it's right, they'll report last month's sales.  Better to get the site back online without November sales than keep it down for days more, or so I suspect they convinced themselves.

I would guess you are right.  I am sure we didn't all have 0 sales... :)  They just haven't reported them yet.

We got our numbers. we sold 11 PP's for Nov for a huge ammount of 3.30$.

I'm pretty sure this is just flat out against IStock policy.
Don't you have to tick a box saying the illustration is your own work (not only that you own the copyright but that you actually created it)?

A simple contract transferring all rights to the images is all you need. Its sorta like a model release for second shooters, you release all rights to the material.
Correct.

Sorry, but I don't think these have potential.

I disagree. I do think they have potential. why not try and upload a few dozens as an experiment ?

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Earned Credit Earnings Level Increases
« on: December 09, 2010, 00:29 »
I read somewhere that if during the course of the year you hit the earned credit target for the following year (for the earnings percentage level that is above your current percentage) that they will increase your percentage immediately, should you hit the required number of earned credits before year's end.

If that is so, does this also apply to this year as well, or does it only apply to when the new earned credit system actually takes affect starting next year?

Many thanks.

Yes.
it applies from the moment you hit your target.

589
Thanks KB,

That makes me feel much better about my decision!

I can guarantee you will make more money then today. you can expect at least double income from your (very impressive) port.

Hi microstockphoto.co.uk,

Thanks for sharing unfortunately it dropped my sales by 1k. I am doing terribly at Dreamstime. They are at $540. This is very disapointing when they used to bring in so much more. So drop my monthly sales to more like 5.5k+. I can see the drop off at Fotolia and Dreamstime but my IS and SS has always been stable. Hope sales pick back up there.

Best,
Jonathan

Your numbers are incrediable! 5.5K per month is VERY respectable. Gives us a lot of motivation to keep up the hard work. 0.58K is not enough :)
We should reach the silver canister + the 30% level sometime next year which will greatly help us up our income. (I hope IS dont raise the 12,500 redeemed credits goal, we will seriusly consider dropping the crown if they do!).

Hi luissantos84,

I made $1254.77 at Istock last month with 1400 images as a non-excusive, it was not a BME for me but it was close. I also like to hear numbers because percentages only shows us what the changes are from company to company not what we are actually earning. For me real numbers help me to establish what work would sell best where as well as many other things. I know a lot of people here don't like it but I am happy to share.

Best,
Jonathan

Glad to see some others are posting real numbers (As oppsoed to worthless %%).  1250$ for a port of 1400 sounds like a very good ratio to me.
I will keep on posting our numbers. December started pretty lousy though.
how much do you make over-all if I may ask ???

Is sharing real monthly $$$ income considerd rude ?
my question also.

Well I dont mind sharing this piece of info. We made 580$ in Nov.
Exclusives at IS with a port of ~1.5K
Would love to hear other people figures.

why exclusive?

Because my goal is to earn money. being exclusive helps me with my goal. ($$ per hour).

« on: December 01, 2010, 04:43 »
You can apply and open an account, but you are not allowed to upload any images, exept the ones for the application, which won't be part of your portfolio.

597
A great month for us!
BME with a 22% increase from last month.
We passed the 500$ mark and 200 d/l's per month mark.
Growth in all other parameters (STM,DPI and RPI).
Exclusives at IS.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Buyers Bailing on Istock
« on: November 24, 2010, 17:13 »
A lot of buyers are fed up, but many of them still have credits left they have to use up, so I wouldn't be surprised to see iStock's earnings begin to drop sharply after the first of the year. Plus, many contributors are planning on leaving the site at the end of 2010 - which will decrease the size of the selection and make the competing micros that much more appealing. iStock's biggest advantage has been their huge library of exclusive content, which gave them a much better selection than the competition. They will lose that advantage over time, now that so many contributors are dropping exclusivity, and many independents are planning to stop uploading, or have stopped already. Eventually, the only unique thing about the site will be the fact that the prices are higher there than they are on any other micro. And somehow I doubt that distinction will keep the buyers coming. Eventually it has to reach the point where Getty will be undone by their own arrogance, I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.

Wishfull thinking again.
quite common here I might add.
wishful indeed and I'm doing everything within my power to see to it that it happens...also "quite common here"  ;)
Good luck...
