Did you open this thread to help yourself by getting some emotional support or to promote your pictures?
Anyway, without knowing your numbers...it seems to be a good idea to communicate if the downloads are not as good as expected.
I wil also try in future if I had the time between my other jobs.

You can look up numbers on any site... check Fotolia ranking, for example. Or that's too much work? I have nothing to complain about  Looks like you're the one badly needing emotional support. Tell us your sad story, there are kind people here who will read.

Nope, just a fellow sufferer... who gave up on trying to make sense out of review process. It all seems like a crap shot to me. Or a coin flip. Used to be upset about it, but that's in the past

Submitting 26 images could mean more money too, but a few months ago, I submitted the 12 zodiac signs as 12 separate images with a note to the reviewer "part of a set of 12" ... and gues what : 9 approved, 3 rejected (for 3 different reasons).
I finally managed to get them all through, but only with a LOT of effort/resubmissions.
From what I've heard (someone correct me if I am wrong) on Istock reviewers don't review your entire batch but grab random images from the queue. That would explain why images with identical technical characteristics get accepted and rejected for various reasons - different people reviewing. If you could somehow get a reviewer to look at your entire set it might help. Otherwise it's just nonsense, I agree.

The answer is: "easily"  I had images rejected for keywords that were entirely relevant to the image, I mean, directly descriptive. And a lot more with the concepts that reviewer didn't feel was applicable. You have 2 choices: 1. Sigh and shrug, or 2. Go istock exclusive... And I don't believe they are wasting their time - aren't reviewers get paid per reviewed image? The wasted time is all yours

It's a tough call. As far as sets go, I'd prefer to see all the letters of the alphabet in one image, but then each letter would be too small to see on the thumbnail. So resubmitting the letters as 26 separate images is probably the way to go, especially if Istock doesn't want sets. You can submit a note to reviewer with each letter, something like this: "This image is a part of a set, please review all 26". Having an alphabet in the collection with missing letters shouldn't make sense to anyone, hopefully reviewers will understand.

Nice going. I'm still amused by someone having their own proprietary software for keywording and the extent of your efforts to become a success in three years. Not what the average person or even a success driven person might do. It's exceptional. Oh that and something like someone like myself couldn't buy in another 30 years of trying or training. Artistic ability and creativity!

To me it appears to be an attack on iStock itself and not to actually get the images.
Well ya since it's hard to imagine why would someone need thousands of random sized images given they have an authorized use of credit card(s) with very high credit limits. Why these people didn't go and spend these money on something they can actually re-sell? Like TVs or computers or crap like that. So It HAS to be something else. Attack on iStock? - but then I don't understand what Istock really lost here. They deducted money from us automatically even before notifying us by their strangely written email. Us bitching and moaning on the forums they don't care about, never did. If this was an attack, all it achieved was a little bit of extra work for iStock employees writing those emails and tracking fraudulent purchases... which I am sure is automated.

What I don't understand is why anyone would need that many images. You can't legally resell them. Sooner than later this things get found out.
So what then - are they making a giant collage?...
We sure need more information on this. Was it one person or several? Credit cards to have limits on them, and it seems like A LOT of money has been "fraudulently" spent.
Without the information, I might as well assume that iStock is just collecting money from us for the year-end bonuses to it's executives.
But then, I am prone to conspiracy theories:)

Thank you - the site that sells my images in only a couple of weeks old So it's too early to tell. We did have some sales already, so hopefully this trend continues:).

As I said in another thread, this is very fishy. First of all, the scale of it. If it was a stolen credit card or few, why would a person go online and buy images?? Thousands of them?? You can get them for free on the internet without any credit cards. Second of all, aren't credit companies ensured against this kind of thing? If someone lifted your card and bought a TV with it, and then you reported that card stolen, the credit card doesn't go to the TV store and demand it's money back. It a loss that they are insured against.
I would understand if Istock's software was doing some double counting and they were overcharging people - that would make sense. But CC fraud with buying images on this scale just doesn't!

Yikes. I didn't lose much - just 105.65, but this is not good news. First of all, it means that the thief spent about 550 dollars just on my images (my percentage being 19). Keeping in mind how many people report deductions and that some of them are way higher than mine, we are talking about some mysterious "thief" spending tens of thousands of dollars on their "unauthorized" credit card. Why on earth someone would even need that many ... images?? Ok maybe there were several people doing that, but still - why would you want to steal images that way? They are not iphones or laptops or wallets. If you want some free images you can easily find them in many places on the internet, including ones that are supposed to be for sale.
This is very fishy.

100% stock photography. I haven't been even looking for clients. I am very happy with my lifestyle, sometimes I feel a bit isolated, but then there is Facebook:)
Hi again Elena, just wondering if you have made any inroads into the RM market, as I was thinking this may be a good idea also...
My images on Getty are RM but I am not too happy with sales there. So practically all of my stuff is RF.

We use our in-house software, it fills the data like copyright and author automatically, spell-checks the title, description, and keywords, counts the keywords and words in the description, gets rid of duplicates, has an ability to sort keywords by priority, has an ability to detect if files have identical keywords... etc... and then you just drag and drop the files onto the software's window and fills in all the fields.

So, you don't miss physics at all?
I am 1/2 time scientist (meteorology) and 1/2 time photographer.
Microstock supposed to be only a temporary fix for a lack of funding in science,
but, now, I am trying to do both. Probably, that's not the best idea.
Actually, I do miss physics a bit, physics is nice and lovely, but it turned out not to be my passion!

January was a good month for me, better than expected. My biggest earners this month were Fotolia, Istock, Shutterstock, and Dreamstime (in that order).
Not the best month ever, but definitely not the worst.
