Image Sleuth / Re: Public Domain Images?
« on: June 02, 2011, 11:07 »
^^^ I am actually wondering how do they accept an image with so much blank space ?

thats not the question here.. but that shows how absent you are in stock and files online, you should join and "learn" more with your stock partner :)

I have really small sales from BigStock, so little that I found it very weird but I am sure they arent taking buyers away of my pictures..

beside this I never had a Pay as You Go so I am not that excited but I am sure for other might be good..

very very very good month!

Shutterstock is always the king with 52% of total income with more 23% earnings from previous BME (last month) and a little over 900 sales
IS is perhaps finally giving some nice sales, will be the first month over 100$
123RF keep on climbing with more sales and $ than FT and DT!
Fotolia after a long run with increasing earnings had a drop, amount of sales pretty much the same, around 100 but at a very low RPD comparing to other months (a lot of subs..)
Dreamstime a little drop too but nothing serious
BigStock ridiculous sales, never seen that before..
CanStockPhoto a last day nice big sale saved the month there that was just like BigStock
SF had 4 sales, hope they keep on coming

will post on my blog as always in a few weeks

it is a nice different picture, never seen something like that I guess..

how about lighting a little more the bottom, try to give it the same amount of light all around and try to get ride of that reflection.. perhaps cover around the "object" with some white/black "boards"

Mostphotos.com / Re: Who has had sales at MostPhotos?
« on: May 31, 2011, 09:43 »
only there for a month and no sales but I do like that fact they have there my pictures, if something happens to my drives files will be there free to download :) and even more cool is that file doesnt lose IPTC

it should lose right? I hope it lose after purchase..

Anecdotal Evidence . . . .  just had 8 out of 8 Editorial Photos (Anti Atomic Energy Rally in Germany) accepted.  Its been along time since that has happened.

this is the kind of topic I need to step out because I would be talking all day regarding their review policy (what is going online/rejected)

5834
can you find other subjects beside signs? I like the #2 but I do see some noise there and perhaps a little underexposed (but the sign itself if almost going white on "letters")

the #3 is nice but it is out of focus and her eyes and almost closed, we wanted to see some of them, I get sometimes rejections when eyes arent wide open.. look also for a clean background, like the rock at her left.. think clean and shoot clean!

like some said before watch your exposure and dont shoot below the 50 etc unless on a tripod, I can handeld quite low but to be sure you have your pics tack sharp shoot above 150 bumping you iso a little of openning the F to a small number, F22 isnt needed unless you really want to have all subject in focus, I tend to shoot around F9 to F11 on landmarks.. studio I go a little higher, shoot and see the difference

check the link below regarding sweet F of your lens:

#1 dont see what can a reviewer like in it.. there just a gorgeous blue sky..
#2 trademark for sure..
#3 not in focus and far from focus
#4 not tack sharp (I would shoot again there but a kind of 3/4 of the sign and the other 1/4 with blue sky, and a little on the side (not front)

this last #4 has a lot of sensor spots on it really close to the sign (left and up)

shoot "girl/boy" again :)

Yeah, I saw the sensor spots too.  First I thought they might be on the lens, then the filter, finally the senso.  Did the auto-clean that, that didn't work.  Just spent 2 hours clean, test, clean, test...  Finally, I think I got it.  Need to re-shoot 3 and 4.  So are we saying Smokey can't be submitted for the application?

Thanks all.

guess not, I dont know Smokey but sure it was design by someone.. really dont know

as we know every city has their worst parts, poorest areas and hours that you cannot walk alone and so on, etc there isnt a place where you are 100% safe.. we dont live in a perfect world, if so we wouldnt get a cut every year by agencies..

if we are going to think about robbery, why not talk about car accident or a bus running over you.. and then all the diseases we can get.. getting off topic yep but to say that we cannot think of all that all day or we would live alone and on a cave perhaps :)

I think they go overboard too sometimes.  My guess is the inspector saw the text that you cant read on the button and rejected it for that reason.

 Nice Levi jeans though :-p

no levis :P

not taking the camera because of possible theft is ABSURD! if we think of that we wouldnt leave home and even went to supermarket or other place, you can get robbed everywhere, it is life guys.. as we know there are many people travelling the world and are safe, it is LIFE!

He was correct to reject !
I once got a reject for blurry writings on a SCREW (which was about 0.0000001% of the picture) !
A 3 minute work with PS will solve your problem.

the problem aint PS for sure.. the deal is that this is not visible and I need to send it again :)

I dont need to tell that all other stock agencies approved right? :)

5844
That's just an example page. If you do an actual search it will show the pricing of all sizes for the sites the image is available at. Pretty slick tool for buyers but may not be a good thing for contributors.

Just did a quick search and drilled down to a popular photo, and for XS through L, iStock was the cheapest out of the 4 agencies. Sure didn't expect that. And $11 for a XS on dreamstime?

because of the level system

exactly, I have no problem on rejections, IS does a pretty good job on describing the reason but this one is funny, of course I will send it as soon as my slots open again :)

The position of the words is probably part of the brand. Kinda like you don't need to see "Nike" to know the swoosh is Nike.

are you joking no?? how can they know the brand?? it is not visible at 200%, not 100%, not 400%.. :P

if so tell me this one :)

have nothing against IS (just the cut) I am having pretty good approvals there and I actually appreciate them and find them quite fair, and I do resubmit pictures every time and they are approved but this one is incredible, first time I disagree gotta say, the issue is "text on rivet"

I pay a 6 pack of beer to the person who can tell me the brand of this trousers! :P

p.s: got no Yuri monopod sorry

preview at 200%

I believe Yuri needs another guy just to look at "news" regarding agencies.. actually I think IS should have contacted him, there is profit to them too no?
