This guy has only about 200 clips on Artgrid, but made $4,000 in 2021 he says. That's actually very high revenue per clip. But also he says revenue per download is only about $0.50. So, I think it all comes down to whatever you are comfortable with. Those who are selling on Artgrid tend not to be traditional stock video creators. They are filmmakers who put their footages on Artgrid. https://youtu.be/3z0i47HpGao?t=127https://artgrid.io/filmmaker/619/sjoerd-wess

I only sell photos on Shutterstock and Adobe Stock. I have 2x more photos on Shutterstock because they accept editorials. But my revenue is 1/3 of Adobe Stock. Shutterstock definitely isnt for creators. They are for their stockholders. Squeeze squeeze squeeze!!

Are you mainly a video or photo contributor?

That's bad news for the Blackbox account.
I propose to ban Blackbox. Through this service, it is very easy for scammers to sell stolen goods.
Those uploading services definitely got some problems with thieves uploading to them.

I reported this to Adobe Stock, but Adobe doesn't take third party whistle blower claim at all unlike Pond5 and Shutterstock. So, if you are the original creator of the clip, you need to make a claim by yourself. Outsourcing your work to a third party that contains a large number of shared unknown users who can abuse the system seems problematic at best.
Exactly.

That's bad news for the Blackbox account. So many users clips are now at risk of going offline if it's reported.
Thieves are definitely taking advantage of those uploading services.

If you sell on Artgrid and Storyblocks your income is much higher than your income on Pond5 and other stocks too.
I would like to know what you are relying on to guarantee what you say. Just your portfolio? If it's just that, it's not enough.
Let's be modest, shall we? maybe it works for you, not for me.
The only problem is that it is almost impossible to get on Artgrid or Storyblocks,
Good thing they don't let practically anyone in.
Do you sell videos on Artgrid and Storyblocks? I'm based on the information I've been told by people who sell videos there.
Of course, it's good that the authors are not allowed, especially when you are already there, this is logical.
Fortunately I don't sell on Artgrid. But i am aware of how it works well to a Small Producer Company with less than 30 employees where i work as a freelancer. They download daily roughly 100 clips and pay 50$/month for it.
I had a Videoblocks client account turned into Storyblocks account. Once I did upload 800 clips i did not sent to curators when i found out it was unlimited downloads. I ended up deleting all the clips and closing the account. It is not profitable to me.
But let's do the math. In theory 600$ cost for 36400 videos/ year on Artgrid. Profit is huge for them is it not? The only thing that companies complain is lack of diversity so they usually go spend in others microstock sites after a while because they cannot present same videos to the clients each month. How many downloads do you think a contributor needs to do on Artgrid to make 6 digits?
Now let's do the math with the other side of the coin. I can tell you that you can make nearly 6 digits with less than 2000 downloads in limited download sites.
The rule of a big/medium/small company to make profit is how to save money. So first they drain all they can from these sites. Afterwards they will go to others sites to find the diversity they need in the videos. Once i got to know how these clients think i immediately understood i could get a better return for a clip in other sites. Occasionally i even sell them directly instead using my microstock account which is even more profitable to me. This is how they work: cycle of 3/4 years. They combine an unlimited download site with single sales from other sites. First they had Artgrid, then videoblocks, then Storyblocks and now Artgrid (again) combining it with SS, P5 and Adobe.
You missed my point of "Good thing they don't let practically anyone in"... Less people there, less clips there, less thieves and more fast companies will move on to other sites once "the unlimited" pond runs dry.
Good point!!

Preparing and uploading so many clips is a lot of work. The thief could have easily used that time to create original content. Even with just a small camera or mobile phone.
The quality would not have been the same, but the content would have been his and his account could have stayed open forever and could even be passed down to children.
In some ways it is sad all around, even for the stupid thief.
Yes, of course. But that's what criminals always do. That's how criminal mind works. They think they are smart and it's easy way out, but often end up paying price for their criminality and stupidity.

But the thief sold 76 times on Pond5 Exclusive since 2022. Price of the clips were $25/HD and $50/4k. So, I think the average revenue per clip was about $20. Total revenue of about $1,500 of 7,445 clips he downloaded, uploaded and tagged. Was it worth the hours the thief put in? Maybe not. But if the thief lives in developing country with low cost of living, it's not bad maybe.

Good news!! Pond5 took a swift action and deleted the thief's account with over 7,000 stolen clips from Artgrid.
