Yaymicro / Re: Yaymicro.com looking for contributors« on: May 19, 2008, 13:33 »
YAY MICRO is moving along. Today they activated the Search function. If you add someones user name, it will come up with this person portfolio. They added a statistic page for sales, you can now edit keywords, description, and title for approved images. The also added lists for "50 most popular searches last 30 days" and "10 most popluar searches last 24 hours". So far it looks like that there is nothing in the way for the launch on June 2nd.

Cutcaster / Re: Cutcaster« on: May 15, 2008, 14:56 »
Cutcaster upgraded their upload system. It makes the upload much more streamlined. It also added lists for pending and rejected photos. FTP works fine too. If a file has IPTC data it skips the description step and you can go right to the submit step. Here you can still edit the information individually or in bulk. I think the Cutcaster team did a very nice job.

Microstock News / Re: 2008 Orphan Works Bill Introduced« on: April 28, 2008, 08:11 »
If I understand it correctly after listening to the podcast. You will not have a copyright to your images that you already have or going to create unless you are registering them. This is different to the rest of the world where you own the copyright in the moment you create something. You do not have to prove your copyright, the other party has to prove that you do not have it. After this bill you do not have anything unless you register the copyright for each item. In any case you have to prove that you own the copyright. If the other site shows that they search this and that registry and cannot find a copyright, then they are free to use it.

Here are my rejections of my 4th try:
Image 1 Composition--Limited commercial value due to framing, cropping, and/or composition. Poor Lighting--Poor or uneven lighting, or shadows. White balance may be incorrect. Image 2 Composition--Limited commercial value due to framing, cropping, and/or composition. Limited Commercial Value--We do not need this image at this time Image 3 Composition--Limited commercial value due to framing, cropping, and/or composition. Image 4 mark as illustration Image 5 mark as illustration The reason the fractals had the keyword illustration, because another agency ask for fractals to be marked as illustration. The other three images had no complains in previous evaluation from Shutterstock. It can be so frustrating sometimes. 615

I uploaded my images too. They have a very friendly/positive/helpful attitude at YAY Micro. They listening very well to the suggestion in the forum. Problems are attacked and resolved limitedly. I can't wait for them to open the doors in June.

Mostphotos.com / Mostphotos referral program« on: April 18, 2008, 21:05 »
I received today an email from Mostphotos.com about there referral program. I thought that they had one already, well maybe it was more of a remainder to talk about them. See it work. I am talking about them.
Mostphotos.com is a still young agency. They have a very easy FTP handling. There is no approval process except minimum image resolution. You vote on other photographers images and this somehow will rank you in the search engine. Go and take a look, the site has definitely a different design and look. Here is my referral link again: http://mostphotos.com/index.php?referenceid=3532 618

New Sites - General / StockRiot« on: April 11, 2008, 12:27 »
A relatively new site is StockRiot. Here is my referral link:
StockRiot They started September 2007. Their goal is to provide photographers an outlet to sell stock photos at reasonable prices and with reasonable commissions. The commission on sales is 50%. The sales prices for digital photo are: $2 Small (800 pixels on the shortest side) $6 Medium (1250 pixels on the shortest side) $15 Large (original size, minimum 1600) The sales prices for illustration are based on complexity and range from: $3 Simple to $20 Complex There is a referral program in place with 10% commission on every image purchased by referred clients for a full year. I like the design and feel of the site. Here is one of there banner ads: 621

You can add someone as a fiend by going to his/her profile. In the upper right you can see "Option". In the dropdown that you can see when hovering over Option, you can set the checkmark for "Display XXXXX in friend list".
