Will New AI Video Tool Sora Kill Microstock? When Will Sora Release and Be Available?

 :o :o :o

603
As soon as users start using them en masse and can generate almost free content for their needs in real time with easy prompts, no one will want anymore trawling through millions of generic videos in agencies libraries if they don't adopt their own AI assistants.
And spaceships will fly to Mars and other galaxies! Everything will be that way!  ;D

All these technologies are not made so that people can use them for free. The buyer will have to pay money either for cloud power or for a powerful PC, and all this will cost money. Therefore, anyone who is not a fool will go to the subscription stocks, pay $16 a month for a subscription, and download everything he needs.

604
Do you really believe that users will then still buy generic videos of for example moving waves at the beach during a sunset for 50 bucks and have to search a matching one for their needs when they can generate this content by prompting "create a blog article of travel tips to the maledives and generate a matching video".
Yes, that's exactly how it will be. I dont know about $50, but now most buyers buy videos on subscription services. There they will buy by subscription in 3 years, 5 and 10 years.

605
I can therefore imagine that in 3 years the AI videos will have high quality.
Yeah, and any buyer will have a PC (probably worth $1000 and no more) to quickly generate such a video. Probably the generation time will be several seconds, maximum minutes.
It's all fantasy. It will be easier, cheaper and faster to shoot or buy a video than to generate it.
Even now you can use cloud computing power, but it costs money. Its cheaper to buy a ready-made video, which is what buyers do.

606
Most of the Sora videos look odd to me. Things are moving fast though, so only a matter of time until they improve it to a point where it will be a serious competitor to stock video. I can't remember who was saying they had no concerns about a year ago, I'm guessing they might've changed their mind about that now?
I haven't changed my mind. This is how powerful your computer will need to be to generate video created by artificial intelligence in normal quality. I'm not even talking about 4K and good codecs with high bitrates. I dont think buyers have such computers (most certainly dont).

607
DepositPhotos won't disappear.

How's the sales on DepositPhotos compared to Shutterstock?
30-40%.

608
DepositPhotos won't disappear.

609
Is there a demand for such a video?

I think the buyer himself doesnt know exactly what kind of video he needs. He searches for different videos using several tags and looks at what ideas are implemented. Then he buys the video he needs. The buyer cannot be the creator of the video; few people can do this. To do this you need to have imagination, know and understand a lot.

This is true up to this point. But when Sora goes live I'm thinking buyers may search the stock sites for what they would like in a project and then prompt it to fit exactly what they need (so bypassing our clips). Up until now they download content that just about fits their needs, but imagine if they could get the general idea from us (off the stock sites) and make it their own using Sora, and possibly change the video generation a bit to be perfect for the project. I'm sure us content creators could use Sora to create unthinkably amazing clips. But I'm worried that this would be easily copyable. I'm not sure what to make of it all. All I know is that AI Video is the worst it will be right now. Give it another year and wow, everything's changed.
This all sounds too complicated. I think that working with Sora will not be easy, even if you know what you want to get from it. I think you will need to learn different commands and know a lot of things. To create videos in Sora, even us authors will need to spend time. Also, working in Sora may be paid. Yes, some buyers may be trying to create something there, but there wont be many of them. Also remember that this Sora is unlikely to be able to create realistic video. This means this video will be specific and for specific purposes.
But we sellers need to think about whether we need to work with Sora. And will stocks accept such a video?

How much does a subscription cost? And when will stocks allow you to upload videos created by this Sora?
I think this is a tool not for buyers, but for us sellers.

How much text do you need to write there to get a normal video?

Many are talking about buyers, and saying that they don't have time to check all websites.

But the website mentioned is here wants to purchase them to offer them for free, and their subscription plans have unlimited number of files for less price.
What about thieves who download those free files, or subscribe them for less price to download all files and sell them on other websites?
We noticed many posts, even someone recently posted that half of his portfolio stolen and uploaded to Shutterstock by a thief.

Where those thieves getting those files? Do they pay and download for higher prices on some websites ? or they download for free or pay very less to download unlimited files from websites like these?
Thieves are a problem for stock agencies. Usually such accounts do not last long.

Hello everybody,

I've been approached by a manager from Freepik Company;

- We found your portfolio and we would like you to become a contributor in Freepik as well. This would be a non-exclusive agreement and we would pay you a fixed price for this content that will be offered for free to our users.

Did this already happened to anyone?  What are your thoughts?
Freepik started accepting videos? It's a good news.

I think there is no codec setting for the 4K shots I took with Osmo Mobile 3. It records as HEVC. HD footage is saved as H.264. I converted my 4k videos with the Media Encoder trial version, but my free usage period has expired. Is there a free translation program similar to Media Encoder?
Have you tried connecting your iPhone to your PC via cable and copying the video from the gallery to your PC? All my videos shot in H.265 via cable are copied to H.264.

In addition to Media Encoder, there are DaVinci Resolve, FFmpeg, and many other programs (but I dont know which of them are free). I think other forum participants will answer this question better.

I make my transfers via cable. There is no problem with the 4K video I shot with my iPhone's own camera. But when I shoot by connecting my iPhone with Osmo Mobile Gimbal, if the video is 4K, it is extended as HEVC.
Are you shooting with the DJI Mimo app then?
Shoot on the gimbala using the native app or the Blackmagic app, it's even better. When copying via cable from the gallery, you will copy H.264.

I rarely shoot with the DJI Mimo app, but it seems that H.264 was also copied. I'll check it sometime.

so its clear that they are paying only 26.67% instead of 40% for videos, and the same calculation applies for photos and illustrations etc..
Yes you are right. Previously it was in dollars, not in credits. But still the income is good if there are sales.

618
I sell videos on Pixta. They pay good money and a normal percentage.

Third party information without details. Does anyone think we haven't done this test before to see if all were being reported. I thought Lagereek was banned from the forum for life. This is his kind of crap claim. You're right about the TOS and we can't buy our own photos but paying someone to download 1 from 25 different people, to test SS isn't a violation. No evidence no facts.
For example, Adobe bans an author when it sees abnormal sales activity in the author's portfolio.

I once uploaded some videos there. There were a lot of refusals. Stopped loading.

So now we need to shoot a lot of editorial.

622
4k video generally has considerably higher bitrate than HD video.
Good cameras also shoot HD with a very high bitrate.
The bitrate size also depends on the video resolution; there is no point in making a very large bitrate for HD video.
As I already gave a link, quality depends on many factors, not just the bitrate.

623
A friend who frequently buys stock footage said it made no sense that agencies price HD and 4K clips differently.

It still makes sense to me (even for a buyer.) A buyer will also need to deal with increased storage costs when acquiring 4k footage - which justifies the higher price.

It's a similar kind of thing when buying an external hdd. A 2TB ext. hdd will typically cost more than a 1TB ext. hdd (from the same brand.)

Likewise, a chocolate bar that is 20% larger than another chocolate bar will usually command a higher price.
This means that 4K video needs to be sold cheaper than HD video. Because the buyer will still spend more money on memory to store it.  ;D

624
or you are very bad at make your business....
In this case, this applies to 99.9% of authors. Not many people can sell their 4K videos at prices higher than the price of HD. And so that sales are not sporadic, but constant, like HD.
I agree to sell my 4K videos at HD prices, than not selling 4K at all or selling 4K it extremely rarely.

625
I suggest Adobe also make the price the same for HD and 4K video (for non-subscription sales). This will lead to more 4k sales and creator income.
At the very least, we will see whether the buyer even needs 4K. But the fact that the buyer is bad at buying 4K means that the price for 4K is high for the buyer.
Initially, the price for video was formed on the market; previously there was only HD. The advent of 4K should not lead to higher prices for video.
