When I see yet another doom and gloom thread about sales over on SS I purposely remind myself that the regular forum scribblers probably add up to less than 5% of the of the active contributor base - and that any day now someone else will start a BME thread.

Six so far and now I've seen this thread, I'm having doubts about pressing the confirm order details button on Amazon for those yellow golfing slacks I've been hankering after.

IS's steam-driven servers have coughed up a few PP downloads but since my PP earnings have dropped by 50% in recent months it doesn't produce a tingle anymore.

Good for them.....However, a number like that does make it painfully clear that I'm at the "peanuts" end of the earnings scale.

I can't recall a month when the damned thing went smoothly. They need a new machine or a bigger wrench to hit it with. Useless.

Coughed up one sale on February 1st and then croaked. Really, you'd think IS would have got the hang of it by now.

Sometimes when a suit with a $150 haircut says "Hey I've got this great idea to boost sales and improve the buyer experience" the better option is to use his iPad to beat him to a pulp.

If it is a recent news you can notify this to reviewers so they can approve more quickly.
Thanks Alberto but the images are not recent news so I couldn't use that option.

It's taking longer than usual maybe because of IS exclusives defecting and uploading there. I have some waiting for 11 days now.
Ah yes, the disenchanted, disavowed and generally downtrodden. I hadn't factored that in.

Not uploaded there for several months, but now I have a editorial work to upload. Problem being the images I have uploaded recently are pending for days. My current batch will be a week old tomorrow. Has there been a general drift in their review times?

I've made a payout there of $30 for the past two months and stand at $9.50 as I write - with only 400 images up. Before that, I'd average $10 a month.
Given this recent surge, BS has pushed my woeful earnings from FT of late into fifth place on my performance metric for Q3

A friend uses Package Choice. http://www.packagechoice.com/ You can also get insurance through the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
I'm in the UK - but there must be something similar I can track down. Appreciate the input.

@RedDove: if you find insurance at a decent price, could you post back, please? I've contacted several insurers who deal with this sort of thing, and the prices are all far above what I could afford - and would make jobs like the one you mention a lossmaker, unless you were doing it virtually full time. They usually include a lot of things I don't need, but when I recontact them to say, how about if I cut out X, Y and Z they've said it's all or nothing - even when they advertise themselves as 'bespoke' insurers or suchlike.
I'll post what I find mate.

How much is too much ? I use ImagingInsurance which is a UK company. My policy includes 2 million public liability.
I have minimal equipment cover (only about 4000 home + UK + EU & 60 days worldwide). The policy costs appx 200 PA excluding UK insurance tax.
I find them easy to deal with and helpful.
That seems reasonable and less than I expected. Is it tax deductable? Cheers for the info.

Do you have an LLC? Also you might want to do a single page contract that basically states that you are not responsible for equipment damage or injuries that might occur in your class- I assume that you are not running a Marine Boot Camp lol!
Thanks tab62 - I'm working out a contract of work to be carried out that I can adapt to each job, but wasn't sure if putting a line or two in about liabilities would be enough. Thanks to money-grubbing legalistas in the UK, people will litigate if they so much as bend over and split their trousers.

Dear readers, I have a paid gig with a couple of clients to teach them basic DSLR skills and beyond, which I will be doing in a local public park. All well and good but I'm new to this and wonder if I need some kind of liability insurance? I mean what if one of my clients suffers an injury in the park would I be liable? Or if one of them damages their camera?
Very difficult to track this stuff down online so I would really appreciate any advice/links please. I live in the UK
Cheers.

I have a commission to shoot some corporate wallahs on location...headshots, working at their desks, prancing about the office etc. And I'd like to use the best shots as part of my portfolio on my business website - to show the scope and standard of work we can produce....so do I need a release to be able to use the images that way?
Advice very much appreciated.

Staying. My earnings are still growing at IS and also via the PP, without any discernible effect on my earnings at SS or DT. Of course that could change but I'll worry about that if and when I see it happening....I'm more interested in whether IS/Getty changes and JJRD's mention of International Development will open up new markets for me in Asia etc
And I ain't a sheep.

I've only submitted around 20 editorial shots just as a tester to begin with and all have been accepted and the majority have sold - though not in vast numbers - nevertheless, I see Editorial as an opportunity to make money over time. Also, I can't see why people have an issue with the captions - it seems straight forward to me.
