I've been doing this since 2008 and never have experienced this kind of downfall - it isn't just a summer month. Looks like I may have to go back to web/graphic design within the year...

I'm really glad I'm not alone. July 2016 has been the worst earnings month in several years. June was bad not not as bad as July. I'm bracing myself for August as Monday doesn't seem to be going very well so far ...

The only Macro site I know is Alamy. I took my 3 best sellers off micro and listed them on alamy (exclusive) and not one download yet.

Worst month ever there and SS. I'm starting to hate the summer months - will it pick up? Probably not. I will hate the whole year now ...

I really hope she wins! I wonder what account (contributor) name the Getty Images are listed under ...

SS has treated me well but this year is the absolute worst. I have been switching over to video more but it isn't as fun for me. I really miss the glory days of stock...

Good luck with SS. It is definitely worth a go. In the beginning you only go up :)

I just started uploading new files to istock after many years of nothing and now THIS!
Unbelievable. I'm now deactivating my files...

I wish I was a fly on the wall in these conference rooms.
"Hey Dave, let's make it so contributors can't delete their files EVER - then we can drop their royalties and they will have no choice but to accept it - hahaha!"

In the near future, I see profits of 3 cents and 5 cents per image download...
Earnings are getting worse and worse every year... The agencies throw pennies in our faces and don't understand why we are not happy.

I have to admit, I almost broke down and opted into EL's on SS but then read this forum and realized I have to keep my stance on this issue. My stock income is going down every month so I feel like I am getting desperate.

REVERT to $28 downloads again!

I'm moving my port to alamy. They are a really nice company but have slow sales... Someone mentioned it could take a year to see sales ...

I'm sadly at this point. I think of a great photo shoot idea and then step back and realize I am actually loosing money each month - why should I invest so much time for nothing ...

Your not making money? Really? I took a look at your facebook link, your photos are so beautiful!!! They totally look like they would sell a ton. So then my next guess would be that they look so beautiful because you spent so much time editing them, and perhaps that is what you mean by losing money?

Thanks for looking :) I make money but comparing my stats from last year and the years before - I making less and less with more content so in a way I am loosing money with my time - if that makes sense...

I do honestly love photography and that will never stop but maybe I won't work so hard at it like I use to.

Been at this a bit over 7 years.  Past 3 years I have been down 20% per year consistently regardless of upload numbers.  Finally stopped uploading cuz it made no difference.

Sometimes I am tempted to start uploading again, but then I read the posts from people in this as long as me who upload a lot regularly and are still dropping and I  figure why bother?  I got better ways to spend my time and still getting some residual income.

Well, I will tell you this, I had a video sale for .28 cents or something and it seemed very odd so I emailed them. It took a couple of weeks to get back to me and they said it was some kind of glitch and credited me the $20 or so dollars for the video.

So definitely pay attention to video sales ... if I did not pay attention and look (daily) I may have never seen that "mistake" ...

613
I will take it! I can enjoy my holiday weekend now!

614
I can't loose my ss income so I am forced to go through all my images this holiday weekend ...
SS is down right now too which make this harder ...

615
I don't see where the title is?

616
Wait a second, those are the same keywords they said I have too .... hummm
orange, orange, orange and icon arrow, icon arrow, icon arrow

617
I got this too and am flipping out! It said I have "orange, orange, orange" in my port and I don't! Only one word orange.  What do I change?

It is a * good thing I don't shoot this type of imagery! I would give up with that kind of competition - haha

(EL = Enhanced License and you can opt out)

I'm in the same boat if that makes you feel better but have been doing this since 2008. It is very alarming that no matter how much I upload, I actually make less. No new files selling ...

SS was the only one I uploaded to for the past year but now I am uploading to the others. My new files won't see the light of day at SS with all the new files being flooded into the stream.

621
Doing awful and uploading many new (image) files. I opted out of the EL licensing on SS when they announced the "exciting news" but compared to last June it does not make up the difference. People are just downloading less subs for me.

I can't believe I received a revised MISC 1099 from Getty in JUNE. Now I have to correct my tax return again! The first time I had to correct it was due to Creative Market sending theirs way beyond the deadline.

623

624
This is the email they send back of which I am sending to the IRS with my amended tax return:

"I am very sorry for my delay. US federal income tax law requires that Creative Market report the royalties earned by Shop Owners as the gross amount (i.e., prior to reduction for the fees charged by Creative Market). Our legal counsel instructed that this is the proper method of reporting. Your net was $246.40. The $200 was what you requested we pay you out on 2015 and has nothing to do with taxes. The IRS considers all monies from sales as part of the gross whether or not you requested it all be paid out or not.".

The amount on my MISC 2015 is $351 so I'm still not sure how they got this number ... Oh well - I deactivated all my files. So shady and dirty...

They withheld some of my money too because I turned it in late, but you get to claim it off your tax return so there is less liability that you will owe... look on your MISC 1099 and make sure to put the withholding amount on your tax return.
