Canva / Canva "Good News"
« on: November 06, 2018, 03:12 »
Now they want to give contributors a percentage of the "sales price", which of course translates to more royalties for you. :(
-------------
Were writing to you to let you know about some changes that Canva is making to its contributor agreement. These changes come off the back of some exciting news - Canva has launched in China! Well be ramping up our operations there over the next several months. Once weve got the product up and running and have a strong customer base well be launching our contributors images for licence. That means another huge market where your images can generate royalties.

Well also be changing our pricing model so we can charge our customers in their local currency. This will remove significant resistance to licence purchasing and translate to more royalties for you. Your royalty rate will still be 35% of the sale price in that jurisdiction, and your royalties will still be paid in USD.

I'm a contributor who works with Shutterstock's new contributor support team.

So, how much do you get paid?

Interesting read on what we shouldn't shoot in the micrcostock business anymore--- I am guilty of having a few of these images  8)

No, it's what buyers shouldn't buy (or use).  But they will.

604
I don't think you need worry, the picture was clearly purchased correctly because you are credited in the text below the picture, this would be absent if it had been purchased illegally. Looking at the other pictures most of them are credited Shutterstock images so I am certain it is a genuine purchase. Well done!

That is a terrible answer.

That answer made me even more worried...

Right.  If I'm querying a usage, I want someone with actual access to accounts that can verify it was licensed.  Not "well, they credited you, so it's probably ok."

Is the response time any better now? I've sent in an application with new photos yesterday and I'm wondering if I am going to have to wait for their response for another 5 months  :(

Yes, it should be a lot quicker these days.

Because you are using their art/product that presumably they have a license for.

Part of the learning experience is figuring out what works best for you at what pricing level.

I have gone through the website related to stock photography and I must say that the photo collection is stunning. I love the way you have described things. I have a great interest in stock photography.

Ok, Mr. First Post.

Well, those are more fine art than wedding.  Not what I was expecting.  I dont think theyll have much use for wedding advertising.  How would you see them being used?  How are you going to get releases from people who have already compensated you for you work?

Whoops!

Adobe Stock / Re: Question about your metadata workflow
« on: September 07, 2018, 14:11 »
I add a unique title and a generic description per image.

Like....
Title: Doctor: Male Physician Holds Up X-ray Film
Desc: Series featuring a male doctor in scrubs on an isolated background.

I used to put the extra work into it on SS and 123 to copy the title from Bridge and paste it into their description field, but I tired of that.

Runaway!

Seriously, nothing on the site, no info, nothing on google.  Why would you even think about it?

I'd relax your outrage.  The page says:
"There are two different software plans you can be awarded:

To receive a 1- year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan, be among the first 20,000 Adobe Stock Contributors to upload at least 300 accepted assets or earn $500 (USD) in royalties for the period Jan 1-Dec 31, 2018. To qualify, you must maintain at least a 50% acceptance rate of your submitted content.
To receive a 1- year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps plan, be among the first 2,000 Adobe Stock Contributors to upload at least 300 accepted video assets or earn $500 (USD) in royalties from videos for the period Jan 1- Dec 31, 2018.  To qualify, you must maintain at least a 50% acceptance rate of your submitted content.  "

Note the "or".

620
They're nice enough to look at, but the stock world isn't really hurting for images of trees.

621
At least youll sleep better ;).

622
Again: The websites of Shutterstock and Bigstock do not work (for contributors and buyers), at least not from the Netherlands.

Yes, I can't get consistent loading of my rejected files, for instance.

623
August is moving quite nicely here.  July was terrible.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Paypal Caution
« on: August 21, 2018, 12:28 »
I got an English and a French one.  But its odd.  No clickable links and the return looks to be a PayPal address.  At least on my phone.

eta: the headers show it coming from : mail2550.paypal.mkt2944.com  But the reply to is just a paypal address.

625
Are they released?
