I can give you some stats regarding my experience, lets say January 2011 ( only top 5 agencies) - average portofolio 1970 files- earnings 413.57$which means RPI = 0.21$check my portfolio: http://www.shutterstock.com/g/luissantos84

this kind of topics will never reach a great conclusion.. unless you are going to do some beautiful work, if you are going on the average with less preparation, less props, less "exciting models" 100 pictures wont be major.. it will about pulling more and more every month, getting pictures highly ranked and get downloads everyday to earn a few more $..
if you are going to do lets say 100 pictures (models, portraits, etc) I would say only at SS like 10 to 15 sales daily.. but again this is not "100% right" could have 5 or 6 or 20.. but I can tell you that if you upload 100 and more 100 and more 100 it will be up at least in terms of sales.. will they stay up like that? maybe not.. but if you keep pulling more stuff and trying to improve your work you will do better and better..
you are a great wildlife photographer, I am sure will do fine, again prepared pictures, all very nice will do better than tons..
try yourself, do it for 3 months and you will see how it goes

dont know what is the best solution but it is non-sense and totally unfair.. myself have been uploading every week since almost 2 years, first 15, then 18 and lately 20! with my approval going up but still at 60% I have now around 700 files there... when others have that uploded in a single month.. IS isnt bringing me a lot of money and maybe I wouldnt be better with more 400 or 500 files but I am just not "less important" than other contributor (at least non-exclusive)
can wait to see what will happen

put in your photos with CRE and see how well you fare. They are very strict on their photo selections...
heard alot of complaints about Crestock, no problems with their reviews, running at 100%
not what they used, myself tried a few and all got in too, maybe a change in plans there (still all 0.25$)

I've waited long enough for the upsizing requirement to be dropped, maybe if I keep waiting the "tons of ticks and checkboxes" will go away too.
it will take a few time I guess, still my second month there, dreaming with big sales every night, thats what keep my uploading..

you cannot compare agencies like you are trying.. you cant do it unless when they give you some consistency.. after that you can do some estimations but even then stock will never be mathematical

I've considered Alamy a couple of times but submission always seemed like too much of a PITA because of upsizing requirements. Is that still the case?
No.. You just need 8.5MP pictures.. The boring submission process with tons of ticks and checkboxes still a pain!

no.. SS is just the big boss  (have 5 times more sales in SS than in FT) and close in portfolio it is just the difference between the top agency to a 4th or 5th in my case (and also to most)

I agree but this is also a quite important issue, I may sound jealous (I am) but I guess if some get this advantage others should too (I have always use deepmeta and my slots stopped on the 15th, then 18th, lately 20th with the increase)
if I had more 600 slots (60% would be approved) and I am sure that would change my current scenario
too bad I have choosen a bad day to upload.. how long was this bug?
cant wait to hear what is their decision
