I was wondering the same thing , but first that I would like to know , is  that allowed ?

I was reading at SS forum that some people claim that they have more than one portfolio there ?

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia subs...
« on: May 30, 2008, 08:58 »
you get 0.23 per sale. (that is what you get, dont make up some weird mathematics like you never saw subsription site, and talking about some 8 cents, dont be ridiculous).

I think that main problem here is too many photographers. If you dont want to participate, thats ok, there will be somebody else to replace you. Photographers are not important any more. Even Yuri. There a ton of photographers who copy his work, some are doing very well. If Yuri is, then we all are.... they dont give a rats ass about us.

I'm more close to a thought  that a photographer is  replaceable but  a large group of photographers with decent portfolio size and quality are not.

Thanks for posting , I got the mail but for some unknown reason I could only see the title of that one , so I first thought i applied for exclusivity on istok by mistake ;D

I'm just a newbie at this stuff, I'm in fotolia and dreamsatime, but fotolia is giving a lot of problems lately(the last one, I can't enter into my account) SO I'm thinking seriously in moving all my pics only to dreamstime. I've tried also 123rf but no one sale, it's very quiet. And istockphoto it's impossible to get anything accepted!!

please opinions???

Well the fact is , that if you move all of your stuff only to DT you will never know how much you lost with that move , and if you don't do it you will surly know how much you could have lost if you did it.

Or you can find a group of elderly people , maybe in some nursing home or whatever that is called , and visit them with lots of best looking food you can buy and place that on the table. I recommend meat.

Just make sure all of their teeth were taken for some dental service early that morning. ;D

Just to prove my point , here are some of the the images from that last batch , rejected for we are not looking for "that type of image".

Lets try a little game...

In every row one image is accepted (left or right) and one is rejected for the  "type of image reason" , so Im just wondering if someone can find much difference in type of image , and figure out which were  approved which were not , without checking my portfolio on Fotolia before guessing.

I just saw that the thumbnails are little blurry on tinypic (I dont know why), , butt I assure you that all rejections were just for type of image , and If someone doubts about technical quality of any image I will upload the 100% crop.

Well here they are:

I don't know the work flow of their rejections/approvals mails being sent , but according to them the rejections were super fast generally , and someone has actually reviewed 37 images in a single minute , than few images in the next few minutes , than more than 60 again in the same minute.

Funny

What was te reason? I do get a lot of rejections for simmilar images.

Yap mostly similar images , few for technical quality , and all grunge backgrounds ( raster images done with brushes) for "type of photo"  reason.

But the problem is if they were strict in their demands , I wouldn't submit the images they are not looking for , but I remembered it already happened once few moths ago , then I submitted same style illustrations  again , few times ,and they were accepted.

Well I'm just to break my own rule not to complain about rejections , I never said a word against a reviewer  , ever , but I got rejector on steroids this time.  ;D

I haven't submitted to fotolia for some time , so I had a quite large batch submitted few days ago , and this evening I was doing categories all evening , and the rejector did them more then 95% in few minutes and im  talking about hundreds of them .

Considering the fact that I had approval rate probably high about 90% , with less quality images before , something must have changed drastically there , or I just wasn't lucky enough and got a reviewer that was pissed off for some reason today. I'm talking about images approved at all other sites , images that were in SS top 50  , few of my bestsellers that have gone over 100$ at other sites etc  all rejected in matter of minutes for various reasons.

So should I contact someone (and Is there a way to request another review) or  should I just let it go ?

The pen tool might be good, the best to isolate, but imo if gives too much sharp edges.

Consider this, when you photograph over whte (studio setup conditions) the edges will look smoot/natural.
Using the pen tool gives too sharp/unnatural looking edges.
Better to have it straight in camere, work a bit longer on background/light setup and then in photoshop use the dodge tool at about 30 %... looks 100 % better.

Patrick.

If you are isolating with pen , after you are done try to use a bit of blur on the white area and you will have smooth natural edges , how smooth , well it depends of blur amount .

But we cant use the loops that programs like garage band have to make some new loops or tracks and upload to sell???
Exactly. All parts of any loops have to be 100% something you created or have a signed release for. That also means you can't sample anything.

Well after visiting istock audio  forum , according to them , its ok to use commercial  free vst-instruments single notes  , single drum beats , etc , if the license allows that, and creating your own compositions  from that , if I'm not understanding it wrong.

Well anyway here is what they say:

Generally using hardware or software instruments to create a completely new composition is ok, just read the companies end user license. We are more concerned with presets or instruments that have complex melodies or rhythms programed in. However if it is a single note triggered by software, keyboard or other means, free free to use these to create a new composition, as long as the companies end user license permits it.

Adobe Stock / Re: sales on FT since search engine change?
« on: May 17, 2008, 22:30 »
Oh that explains it , my sale are up significantly  last few days and I'm getting sales from images that were never sold before.

I never did  any reorders to my alphabetically sorted  keywords just for Fotolia ( and I never will) , so maybe that has something to do with that change , but maybe its just a coincidence

Just wanted to pull my statement , after few days my  downloads stooped , I mean i don't remember when was last time I had a day without download there , even a working day with less than 10 downloads ,  but this week I had few days without any and the rest were one or two , all only 1 credit .

Just curious since I have never done any audio before....if you wanted to make recordings of various sounds, but not music, what type of equipment would you need.  Any articles around on this sort of thing?

Ill try to answer that.

Firs you will need some hardware , probably another sound card , the one that is integrated to your motherboard usually has low quality inputs and it will give you headache with noise problems. If you are buying one try to buy one  that is ASIO 2 compatible and avoid Creative labs stuff , thats for gaming not for recording Then you will probably need a mic preamp , if you want to go cheap Behringer has some nice stuff for low price. You will also need a mic , there are also some good cheap ones outhere. You may want to buy all that second hand online like on ebay ... and you a ready to go for less than 50-70$.

Then you'll need some software to record with , Im not in music making waters for few years , but I remember that there was a nice free software there , i think it was called something like n-track , n-track studio or something like that.  It had a possibility of 16 tracks recording and vst plugins support , so you could easily bring some nice effects to your work , and there are tons of free vst-plug ins and instruments that you can use with it.

There is a nice forum online that involves everything about making and recording music , people are nice and friendly and always ready to help, but I dont know if its ok to put a link here . If Leaf agrees I will put it.

Hope it helps

Nice to know there are people, here who like making music too.

Now I have to find and prepare some of my old recordings for submission, then pull my harps and my guitar out of the dust , and than install XP back cause good people from M-Audio don't like updating their drivers for Vista , especially for 64-bit machines.  I just hope I will not end up like in vector section ;D.

Again , their part of the rise and our are two different worlds , and I'm sorry but numbers like 3 6 and 8 sound like an insult to me , if they are rising subs for 50% they should at least round the numbers to 5 and 0 , and still take nice part of our pies.

May I ask how to buy images there , I have few bucks but how to convert them in credits. I would try to figure it myself but any action there was so slow last two times I tried that I need 2 minutes just to refresh page or to log in.

When I figure that out I will have about 10$ , so if anyone needs few sales let me know.

I agree , I also think its stupid.

I cant stand one more thing , when a topic is opened , any subject doesnt matter but not like show me etc , and suddenly every other post  has a photo attached that is somehow connected with the matter or the poster thinks its connected.

Sometimes is funny , I mean there are many conceptual stuff out there that fits in , but mostly is all about pushing photos just to be seen at any price. I feel like when watching TV when those stupid commercials start.  What is it all about , even if it gives you attention and maybe you get  few more sales ,but  is it seems like falling real low at least to me.

It seems that this large preview with watermark like this is giving web-size images for free. Definitely not good solution for my taste.
