we have reached this level of poor image quality in ss? why? how?
can somebody explain? https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/97747-my-quest-for-10000-images-before-the-end-of-2019/
first this puppet who believe to be a master of photography while he doesn't have a clue what is talking abut...7000 of snapshots repetition technically applying images...asomebody who earn probably 20 dollar month and claim to be a super expert...
Grossinger's port is improving and have to admire his work-ethic. He'll realise soon that quality beats quantity any-day...but he's on a mission so there's no stopping this guy!

You can close your accounts, but you cannot delete your images and they will sell after you are gone.
Yeah, no doubt they'll appear on Pixaturd and Turdsplash

Anyone up for a collective "Delete account" then?
I've requested to delete my port.

Hi,
We have an important update to share.
Two years ago we started an incredible journey, aiming to help talented photographers to reclaim their lost revenue and power. We had a clear vision and exciting plans to completely change the way content is licensed and paid for. We had an ambitious goal, and believing a change is inevitable, we decided to take this challenge.
We launched our marketplace early this year, with a fast-growing community of experienced photographers. We released two major product updates since then, including smart search filters, credit card payments, advanced content review system to onboard creators in scale, and lots of improvements in user experience.
Unfortunately - all of this wasnt enough. As a result of the cryptocurrency market crash last year and a sequence of unfortunate events beyond our control, the USD value of the funds we raised, as part of our token sale, has been slashed in front of our eyes, eventually leaving the company with no resources.
Today, we regret to announce that Wemark is shutting down.
New purchases and image uploads will be now disabled until the platform will eventually shut down completely.
Read more in our official announcement here: https://medium.com/wemark-stories/wemark-is-shutting-down-4348e41340e
Despite all our efforts and some advanced processes with several investors, we couldnt raise the additional funding required to operate the company and keep growing.
This is undoubtedly an extremely sad day for us. The decision to shut down the platform was probably the hardest we have ever made. If we believed theres anything we could do to change this, we would have done it in a heartbeat.
Despite the way it ends, we couldnt be more grateful for the trust and support we received from you. We never took it for granted, and weve fought hard and given everything to end this journey in a completely different way.
We know that youve spent considerable time in setting up your Wemark account and uploaded your content. Were truly sorry thats the way it ends.
Yours, Tai and Pavel, Wemarks founders.

Its disgusting they are aiding and abetting copyright thieves.
Just be thankful they have made it a policy to delete your account in retaliation (a joke but I'm sure one day it will become policy)
Seriously though the only way anything seems to happen these days is to complain to Jon Oringer direct.
Yes, tweet it.

No the monkey has gone now
"Well, this is unexpected... Sorry, we can't find what you're looking for. While you're here, take a look at our hand-picked Collections. Error code: 404"
Received this email yesterday. "Thanks, Alexandre. We appreciate you alerting us to this issue. Please know that this portfolio was reported earlier to our team, and has been suspended. IP Team Shutterstock, Inc."

They did take down that Ansel Adam's iconic shot after I shamed them on social media. They will make exceptions.
My level of apathy towards this issue has reached a new all-time high. If they don't care, why should I?
Nevertheless, just tweeted this to both SS and Oringer. I was going to @ the copyright owner of the monkey-selfie, @davidjslater but opted against it. Who knows, they might shoot the messenger!

Hi Anyka,
Thank you for your reply! Actually this is the exact thing I was thinking about and I have thought of the following solution:
- photographers that want to offer their images provide me with their info and links to their content at the stock agency website(s) - when I'm looking for images I go through the content at the agency website and collect whatever I need - I then send the images to the photographer so he/she can provide me with the actual material - payment follows
The process could probably be simplified further, but in a nutshell this is the idea. Would something like this work?
PS: Nederlands?
Yes, you're right, that would be the only way to do it. However, I think that would be against the rules of many stock agencies ?
I think it's fine as it's a public profile / link. Nothing confidential there. Alternatively, you could email your subscribers with a list of types of images you're looking for and request them to send low resolution files which you can shortlist.

Hi Gavin,
Thanks for the mention and welcome.
I think it's a great idea and cutting out the middlemen is something that we, contributors, can only dream of since we're constantly being taken for a ride with lower and lower royalties (generally speaking).
1. With this scenario in the backdrop, would be great to work with you to further your project.
2. Since the usage is digital and educational...I believe that $1 per image would be fair, assuming the sales are in bulk. For a one-off then $5 is reasonable, as Sean has indicated. I'd be willing to be flexible though and since there is no middle-men, more room to negotiate.
3. Most simple as possible would be welcome. We don't care much for admin as I doubt you do as well. I don't think pay per view is practical either and from looking at my Connect royalties for those, it's too little for us to be interesting (unless you can offer substantially more)
Best of luck with this venture and let's keep in touch!
Alex

I am selling for $0,38, it is not so far from free...
38 cents is a world away from free when considering 100s of downloads. Plus the average isn't 38cents, more like double that on Micros depending on the port. Unsplash users overestimate the kindness of strangers and underestimate the value of their work.

Hey Alex, We had to take the website down for awhile. Had some performance issue that needs to be sorted out. Rest assure the team is working hard to get it up and running again.
