WHile you agreed to the increases. once they set a set price, that should have been it. Had you know initially it would cost that much, you may have said no.
Write the letter and they "should" give you the repair for the original price (my opinion only, not canons)

Depends. The one I referred to above (trying to be above $1pppm) is across all sites, but I do track the number for the individual sites as well.
From what I understand, this is usually the number people use when comparing to the macro sites.
At SS, I think I get about $0.25pppm which sounds about right since it makes up about 25% of my earnings.

I do not like the impactometer. Especially with SS as it favours those who have been there a short period of time.
I think the best way to judge performance is to calculate your $ per image per month. I aim for above $1pipm or $12per year (though you have to do it monthly to avoid errors due to uploading during the period). I also calcaute this based on the number of images at the site with the most (ie. if I have wated time editing and it gets rejected at most, then I count it. If it gets rejected by all, then I ignore (my spreadsheet doesn't track so ...))

Given tehy are owned by one of the big macros, I am supprised they haven't spent more on advertising. Sales a slow but regular (on a monthly basis) for me.
I think they pay on a monthly basis, So if you are above payout, then they payout the follwoing moth (like SS) but not positive as I am not quite there yet.

In UK with highspeed Broadband.

The problem I have heard with mirroring drive is that if the original gets corrupted, that corrupted file gets mirrored and teh previous "good" copy gets overwritten.
I have still to sort out my solution but I think I will just put a copy of "my photos" onto multiple externals.

wow, that is confusing.
What difference should it make if i type in
log fire
or
fire log

I am confused too. ONe will search for Log fire and the other fire log. Though I assume you were looking for a log fire (since it will be a fire with a log in it).

If you brought a grey market camera from a reputable site, I think they have to warranty the camera under normal consumer law, at least for a shot period of time. They should have also made it clear it was a grey import.

I am pretty sure that Paypal keeps your credit card/account number secret. So even if they did get access to your paypal account, they only have access to that, not your bank records aswell (unless they hack Paypal but that is another whole matter).

The general opinion is to keep photos on marco and micro sites different, otherwise, submit all photos to the micro sites. The problem is is that Alamy accepts almost everything from what I hear so you need to be selective and only submit unique photos to them. Then upload everthing else to all of the mirco sites. Not sure if you have joined them yet but to give an indication of how well the different sites do, here are my percentages from last month: 20% shutterstock9% fotolia 14% istockphoto 18% dreamtime 8% bigstockphoto7% 123RF0% Canstock15% StockXpert5% FeaturepicsAs you can see, shutterstock and dreamtime normally do the best unless you are high up at istockphoto

You will always be the photographer, you just lose the copyright on it.
Set a price you want considering you are giving away copyright. If they say no, then no real loss as the photo will keep earning

On DT there was discussions re the 5 word minimum. If someone had discription of "brick wall" and that is the keywords that are searched, it will show up higher than other images with the new 5 word minimum due to the way their best fit works. In effect, using more desrcription words reduces your relevancy even though they force you to use more.

Agree - if you can raise yor fotolia prices, do. YOu can send a message to admin and they will adjust your whole portolio.
Another point. Designers probably charge out at $100-200 per hour??? It may actually be cheaper for them to DL the first one they see rather than hunt for a bargin. The customer will be paying anyway so will be happy that are not paying marco prices.

I voted (b) but I do not beleive it needs a clipping path. I believe it needs to be " cut out" as opposed to photographed on white. The difference is minimal except when you need to cut out the image to put elsewhere.

DT is getting very strict. I am having issues but hopefully it will pass.

I thought the copperchil method was the wet method. Just like sensor swabs but you make your own for a lot cheaper.
The brushes are a different method and are "special" brushs. They are a rip of as a make-up brush maybe identical but you are paying for the fact that it is a clean brush taht is suitable (I think you need abrush with synthetic hairs but I cant remember the detail). You then charge it up with compressed air or a spinning motor to give it static electricity.

Since you have a niche of pinguins (I think) they might be genuine, if that is what they are asking for. If you have the photos on SP then you should sell via there (ethically at least).
If you are selling other images you have withheld from StockXpert, then that is a different matter.
I assume tehy want to pay more that $5. I wouldn't be bothered with private sales unless they were paying good $$$.
What did they actually ask for?

Exclusive criteria isn't strict is it?? (it is just having over 500DL??)
The rest of your comments I agree on and that is why they have a high reject ratio.

The 68 diamond members on average added 59 photos last month. That is less than 20/week if 100% acceptance.

It could just be that they have taken a view to stop certain actions (ie. lurking in bushes taking random shots of young people (there are some state in US that this is illegal aren't there??).
I think I heard that there is one web site that also requires model released for any bikini, lingere, etc type photos even if you cant see the face or recognise.
The problem is not so much with the rules (we can work around them), it is taht each site has different rules and they are constantly changing and there is no easy way to keep track other than trial and error (otherwise know as submit, reject and resubmit)
