my opinion regarding DT, wanna have your work online? go exclusive!
Nonsense, I was DT exclusive. If I submitted an image of a wild animal from the front they would not accept the same animal is photographed from the rear, to similar. I have images with an animal jumping after food and another with the animal static; they would only accept one. The policy is bad; for exclusives and non-exclusives.
from my private researches I found exclusives have a lot of advantage on DT.. but I understand that.. just like IS

they have a really boring submission process, a lot of ticks etc.. regarding approval ratio they are quite good but they change daily what pictures they are looking for (or I guess it is just me).. I am on PM since 2009 and they have around 90 sales for 160$.. they pay in EUR.. they are my 6th.. have around 500 pictures there

You were told to JOIN them??? by Istockphoto? now that's the limit! May-be I should've started by sending the 26 apart, and hope for a rejection "please join them"
it happened at least once, DT is almost daily, they really think they rule the word but do I do them? yeah..

this is another issue that keeps going.. I had pictures told to join them, other to separate! (DT and IS are the king there)

glad to hear that it is going good, I guess having pictures opted-out isnt a good idea, I understand you are waiting but SS give more exposure to newer photos, you can always delete them and upload again.. I guess also that wildlife photography dont get that buried if they dont sell nicely on the first days once I believe there are a lot less photographers in that area..

as I can see from other topic I have read that you were before in all agencies.. how was it? why did you decide to go exclusive? (more time to shoot ?) from what I know and talk DT are very nice to their exclusives (maybe they aren't giving the exposure you deserve)
it is hard to project what will be your earnings but they will go up 4 or 5 times for sure, I would say 300$ but honestly you might earn a lot more, again hard to predict, you have great pictures so if IS, SS start enjoying your work you might get a big increase but it will take time (I an still waiting for it but my portfolio is a mix of subjects and still learning a couple of things, like shooting better and stockier)
you are in photography for a long time (5 years on RM) you have a lot of skills and pictures talk there! don't know how many wildlife photographers are on SS, IS but I guess a few and very good ones so a little competition.. you will have a spot 100%..
regarding RPI thats the same history, like Paulie said going to 1$ is a lot but I am sure a few very good and consistent phographers may go a lot higher, don't think that 'stock' is only about people or other popular stock subjects, it is about delivering very good pictures (not saying I am doing them, far from that) my pictures are far from perfect and I am having around 0.35$ for RPI (of around 1600 average portfolio, from 2400 at SS and 600 at IS)
the start will be hard but if you have been before as non exclusive you will get used fast and will be a lot more happy regarding stock income, wish you the best

Not quite. You need about 8,4 MP. I have to upsize my Canon 30D files (8,2 MP) a tiny little bit to reach the 24 MB uncompressed.
To the OP: Your Tiff file size should be exactly what you are looking for (uncompressed file size), so if that is 25 MB you should be fine without upsizing.
(Here's the calculation: 24 MB = 24x1024x1024 Bytes = 25.165.824 Bytes. As a 8-bit RGB file needs 3 Bytes (uncompressed) per Pixel, you end up with 25.165.824 / 3 = 8.388.608 Pixels, i.e. roughly 8,4 MP. Attention: Cameramakers normally seem to calculate "Mega"pixel = "1 million"pixel, in contrast to IT folks where "Mega"byte = "1024x1024"byte. And forget about looking at JPG file sizes, the compression algorithm can lead to vastly different file sizes for different images of the same uncompressed size.)

1 week is the usual, you can use also deepmeta to upload (google it)
Yes aweek is usual when things are working over there, but two weeks should be expected now and then. Also I stopped using Deep Meta because they all get upped at the same time and most go to the same inspector. If they have a hard on about your images you get LOTS of rejections. As soon as I went back to the single upload process (a royal pain, I'll admit) I went back to the normal 80 percent acceptance rate, wheras 50-60 % was typical with Deep Meta.
Just my experience, of course. Others may vary.
Maxwell Smart
never had more than a week, always using deepmeta, I tend to pick very different subjects into the weekly batch, my approval is right on the 60% (increasing a lot lately)

I have a few days left before my exclusive contract expires on another site; does istock have an option to allow uploads but not put approved image for sale; similar to the "opt-out" option as SS. i would like to get images loaded and ready for the opening day.
You can't really upload to IS without the risk of images going live before your exclusivity ends, but to improve your workflow you can use deepmeta and prepare all your files (i.e. keywording, CV mapping, categories) offline. Than it will take no time to submit them once you're free to do so.
exactly, work on deepmeta

It's obvious here that there are some who just don't want new members joining SS.
No, if you ask in the right way you'll get plenty of help here. However starting a thread with the title 'Ridiculous Rejections' suggests that you've already decided that you know more than any 'stupid reviewer' does __ and probably anyone else here too. But quite clearly you don't.
my days wouldnt be the same without reading your comments (not vice versa I know )
