« on: January 10, 2011, 19:31 »
Yep I requested again on the 26th December . . . two weeks ago . . . nothing yet. Last time it took almost 4 weeks, I don't understand how some people can get their money in 24 hrs while others wait a month. Very unfair. Heh, in the end I suppose we just have to be grateful we get paid at all  :-\

it is the first time I wait more than 3 or 4 days.. almost 2 weeks for now

General Stock Discussion / Re: Sales not showing up today in DT?
« on: January 10, 2011, 19:27 »
I've had several sales in the last hour or two, and one went from 49 to 50 sales and still shows Level 4 in my profile - but once you click on it you see it as level 5 with level 5 pricing.  So DT seems to be working on the things that matter :)  One tip is that if you use the facebook promotion tool it will allow you to see your latest 4 sales before the earning page updates.  (You don't have to actually post the link to Facebook to preview your sales...)

ah thanks for that

plurals? I just use them when the picture ask for it.. thats a good one also..

regarding portrait etc people picture.. there is always the "people" keyword which I think it is totally incorrect if the picture has just one person.. but wanna know? I add people also thinking if other place it why not myself..

is people more searched than woman, man, person, etc?

IS seem to accept some scientific names, got a few

LOL

I would submit it, no text on it of course..

What you may be seeing are scratches from use - this was not a new stethoscope. But is that really relevant to the image?  Do we need images produced in a sterilized lab now?

LOL I agree with you but I tend to clean everything before shooting, if I were you I would open it and clean it or maybe not lol

if you were approved they wanted to keep you no?.. still waiting from June, hope it gets to June!

Hello luissantos84,

While I answered you privately, I'll also post here to provide any clarification for all the photographers reading here as well.

rubyroo is exactly right with their earlier observation in this thread.

Keywords should describe what is physically and prominently visible in the image. We discourage the use of subjective words unless they are very relevant to the image. When selecting each keyword, you should ask yourself "if a buyer searched this keyword, would they expect to find this image?" - if you answer is no, then don't include that keyword.

Someone searching "woman" will expect to find an actual woman, and not a boot. If you had "woman's" or "womans", then those would be acceptable, as there is a clear difference.

Sometimes people will list all possible names and parts visible in an image. For example, a photo of a cat may contain the keyword "claws". Well, yes, a cat has claws - but that keyword would only be relevant if claws are prominent or central to the image.

As far as subjective words, you could call almost anything a "background, gorgeous, beautiful, etc" - so such descriptive keywords are only allowed if they are closely associated.

Regards,

Duncan

glad you make it to here also, I am just spreading the word wanting fair reviews, again I guess all collection should be updated

What the heck is Busckspin??

I assumed he meant buckskin - I've never heard of buckspin either.

Luis... the other thing that might be of interest to the buyer would be the type of boot fastening - e.g. pull-on; elasticated; zipped; lace-up, etc.  In case they were specifically looking for a certain style of fastening for some reason.

Duncan... thanks.  It's always good to get confirmation from the people who make the ultimate decisions.

thanks for the tips.. my only concern was with woman and female which I continue to think that they should be in keywords..

50% of rejections of my files on Canstock is "Image contains invalid keywords, title, or description. Please ensure keywording is relevant and specific."
There is a possibility to change them and resend file but it's quite difficult to find what keyword they found to be invalid.

need to ask them, they have answered me but I dont agree, woman and female are essential

buckspin, leather, boots, high, woman, heel, isolated, white, brown, background, leather, fashion, footwear, pair, female, winter, elegance, style, casual, two, object, fashionable, luxury, modern, women, warm, stylish, gorgeous, studio, new

What the heck is Busckspin??

from my research it is what the boot is made of, in Portugal it is called CAMURA (some kind of leather, soft one :P)

this was the first time I had a rejection because of keywording..

This is absolutely weird, although I'm not complaining at all.  I requested my Paypal payment from FT yesterday afternoon and received it this morning. WOW!  Probably an isolated incident, but thought I would make it known anyway. Lately I've been waiting at least two weeks. Maybe they're allowing more money in the budget since it's the first of the year.??

I have one pending from the end of Dec :P

« on: January 10, 2011, 13:29 »
just to let you know my latest rejection on CanStockPhoto, honestly they are approving almost everything but this late rejection is RIDICULOUS!

the picture are some woman boots, I have added the following keywords:

buckspin, leather, boots, high, woman, heel, isolated, white, brown, background, leather, fashion, footwear, pair, female, winter, elegance, style, casual, two, object, fashionable, luxury, modern, women, warm, stylish, gorgeous, studio, new

if you take a lot at most photos related contributors have absurd keywords (that I wont refer here), I just add keywords that I think it is proper but the answer from CanStockPhoto was that I have the following unproper keywords:

woman, background, female, winter, elegance, casual, one, object, modern, gorgeous, studio, new, close-up

the most ridiculous is WOMAN or FEMALE!.. (the reply from CanStockPhoto tell me that buyer will get there also)

what about a review of the all collection??

If you check out the iStock rank list
http://www.microstockgroup.com/?action=rank&site=IS

Then look at the Downloads/Image ratio and see how varied they are.  They are going to be just as varied for views/download .. like the others have said it is pretty hard to compare.

sorry to bother you but this rank feature is always working very bad (at least for me) one day I can see me there on bold but now I cannot see myself.. do you imagine whats wrong?

sorry whats your problem? have you ever heard of sarcasm? didnt undestand your rude comment

It's not 'sarcasm' or irony, at best it might be described, very weakly, as rhetoric. I'm just tired of your constant posting to say ... er ... nothing at all. Pointless.

ohhhh I see!

6416
exclusives losing 6 and 7k.. who will benefit?

Istockphoto obviously you idiot. What actually is the point of your incessant, meaningless drivel?

SWEET!

I had 1403 RC in 2011 :P (if PP entered on RC I would be at 16% for sure, got almost more sales there than in regular) lol maybe in 2012 :)

please be sustainable, I feel bad for IS :(

I love Cutcaster.  It doesn't happen often but when it does ... where's that camera catalog?   ;D

John,
Aren't you proud of the way I handled that?
or not?   :P

I guess I dont open CC for a long time, I guess two sales in more than a year dont make me that happy with them :P

Where is my money from way back in November!?

Will we have to wait until February for our December sales or are they just going to wait so long that we forget and just skip paying us at all?

We were told that thinkstock royalties would be paid out within 10 days of the end of the month and now we are waiting two months!!  Give me my money! NOW! This is outrageous!

+1.. I am wondering how much will it be, I have the exact number..

Many people were outraged by commissions cuts on Istockphoto, and some pulled their stock portfolios or stopped uploading, and yet the lowest commission per image I got on Istock ever was still above 20 cents. Now someone's offering you 13 cents per download or lower and it's worth trying? Doesn't make sense to me.

Exactly the reason sites like iStock do and will continue to lower our commissions, as long as people support sites like this we will never have an argument against other sites lowering commissions, Ingrampublishing is another fine example, I just can't understand seeing people uploading there and then complaining that iStock have lowered commissions!!

SS (almost 14 million pictures)
- 1 month 199 EUR (25 downs) (client can buy 750 pictures for 0.34$ each)
- 1 year 2049 EUR (25 downs) (client can buy 9125 pictures for 0.26$ each)

SPIN (for premium collection = 300k pictures)
- 1 year 329$ (3600px) (50 downs) (client can buy 18250 pictures for 0.018$ each)
- 1 year 549$ (5100px) (50 downs) (client can buy 18250 pictures for 0.03$ each)

SPIN (for expanded collection = 1.9m (dont understand from where they come))
- 1 month 488$ (5100px) (25 downs) (client can buy 750 pictures for 0.65$ each)
- 1 year 3488$ (5100px) (25 downs) (client can buy 9125 pictures for 0.38$ each)

if client doesn't spend all his subscription SPIN gives higher royalties, SS doesn't

what does this mean?.. contributors are just getting lower royalties if the clients go to PREMIUM collection which is 300k pictures..

are photospin sales from this premium collection?? please tell us more regarding your sales..

SPIN should just erase the premium :P

I'd imagine it's probably the same problem that's happening at all the other sites, too many people have read books and blogs saying how easy it is too sell their photos on microstock, now any new images you upload are just getting lost in the crowd.
I don't think there's much you can do about it other than finding one of those who encouraged all this competition by book or blog and thanking them in the way you feel is most appropriate  :P

talking about microstockdiaries??
