MOV is just a file container - like the structure of the file. The content needs to be encoded with something, and your camera uses a modern very high compression codec. The Apple Motion codec is far less extreme, especially if you chose 100% quality.

The App is free - I've just loaded the Android version and am waiting for the iStock site to populate the results. Looks interesting so far, but the initial scan of the site probably will take some time.

I think this is OK - when you save in MPEGStreamclip, you are actually also choosing which codec to use with the file - like PhotoJpeg. Those codecs are far less aggressive in compression than the one that is used in the camera and so you are getting a much bigger file. My 15 second clips that I upload tend to be in the 300M range.

Where do you see the individual sales? I can see how much each image in the PP actually earns.
Anyway, September was a spectacular for me - $109 on main site and $282 on Partners - including (I assume) about 4 extended licenses.

I think it is all my fault - I forgot to vote last month and haven't voted my substantial earnings this month either. As soon as I do, that will get the bars moving upwards again...

I didn't know about the discounted designer scheme - not worth it?

Maybe I am missing something, but there is no link between editorial and RF or RM - editorial is a form of usage. RF and RM are forms of license. They are not linked in any way whatsoever.

Yes, the Yoast one is the main structure of pages and links etc. The Leo one focuses more on the image structure which is not covered well in a traditional site map.

Yes, I will continue over on Symbio.org - it is there, but there isn't as much traffic on that site just yet.
I will try a test purchase and see what happens.
Thanks

Great suggestion - I had forgotten that. But... I found that the SYMBIOSTOCK - Emails and Notifications plugin was present as version 1.0.0 and activated. I deactivated then activated again, but still I get the same wordpress standard email when I try a test registration.
There was nothing else I was supposed to do in updating to 2.6.5 was there? I've moved back and forth to one of the other themes a few times.

That isn't supposed to be a broken link - it is an extension of the link that provides some good Google indexing, if I recall the earlier discussion.
Somewhere in the forum you can see the discussion about this.
Have you tried clicking it - it should be OK

I've just posted a fuller summary of this issue on the Symbio forum, but someone here may have seen a similar issue. I've updated to Wordpress 3.6.1 and Symbio 2.6.5 plus Clean Theme (although I have tested both with and without the Clean theme). I've been testing registration - I get an email almost immediately, every time, but the email is a very simple one line affair that shows: Username: testcustomer Password: m6HniAvZTlBS http://www.backyardstockphotos.com/wp-login.phpI tested on someone else's site and I get a much richer email from them with welcoming comments and several alternatives of where to link back to the site. Clicking on my link takes you to the user profile in the admin page - not where I want to go at all. Anyone notice this issue or is it something I have screwed up in my site? I'm with BlueHost. Steve

It isn't normal to get that string of errors when you activate the theme. I don't know enough to say where the error is coming from, but that should not be happening.
Has that occurred from the very first time you installed the theme?

I was a little distressed to see ISO 1600 and ISO 640 being used for studio stills. I agree - that really surprised me as well. I was going to email the author to ask about that, but never got round to it! I also thought that food was the perfect subject for a tripod - it doesn't move! I guess the idea is that you can start with a bare minimum of equipment - he isn't saying that you could then sell the images, but that you can take them using the sheet in the garage door opening and a reflector, and if your camera automatically ups the ISO, then that is OK for learning. Just a suggestion that would make backups easier. I've been working through ways to backup the database and image files and have a workable solution for the initial backup: http://www.backyardsilver.com/2013/09/backing-symbiostock-website/However, I'm struggling a bit with the backing up of incremental image files. The solution I use (mover.io) doesn't seem to be able to select individual files in a folder to transfer although I'm contacting support to see if it is coming. At present, all image files are in symbiostock_rf folder. Could we add images into monthly sub folders in this overall folder - I could then backup a monthly folder without having to redo all the previous ones. If this screws up everything else, then just forget it. It was just an idea! steve

Good idea to have a separate post for these. I wrote one that used a combination of a plugin to backup the database and some of the files, and a separate service called mover.io to backup all your image files to Google Drive. Different approach to the one above. I'm on Bluehost and all this works fine on that site. Steve http://www.backyardsilver.com/2013/09/backing-symbiostock-website/

Take a look at Cyberduck. It has a lot of features. I have not tried it but it may fit your needs I did - it used to support access to Google Drive, but it doesn't any longer. On the broader question, my backup of all images finished OK and I still have 1GB of my free allowance left. It appears that the Mover.io site charges per GB - I think it is $1, but I haven't yet confirmed, So my answer may be to just pay as I require the extra bandwidth - even if I double my site, it will just be a one off charge of $10 - not a subscription. Yes, that would work, but you are using your personal home bandwidth three times - once to upload, once to download in the new numbering plan, once to upload to Google drive. I am still investigating ways to go from the webserver to Google drive without having to pay for a service to do that! There is a service called Otixo that I'm looking at now!

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I finally wrote my process/instructions for using Google Drive as your backup location in the "Updraft" posts.
Sorry for the interruption!

Once you have successfully achieved that task, please write a tutorial or review in a separate thread for everyone to see. I'd greatly appreciate that! I've completed my initial tests and have now written my tutorial on my overall approach. I put it on my own site as it gets lost here. http://www.backyardsilver.com/2013/09/backing-symbiostock-website/Please comment where you think I have made a mistake! I'm still looking for a cost effective way of doing the final piece of ongoing maintenance - backing up the new images you have added to the site. Steve

Well, mine completed just before midnight after 15 hours for the 10GB website.
Now I have my website back, I will investigate the other approaches of copying the image files separately to Google Drive

Yes, that is certainly my understanding. I bought the all in one package that removes ads, gives you tools to easily migrate your site, set the times of the backup etc.
However, I think I made an error in the way I'm doing this (and can't stop it). I should have excluded all my actual image files and made a copy of all of those to my Google Drive manually (my plan is to use Backup Box). Then I would backup the rest of the folders and plugins daily, and just add incremental copies of my image files when I add some more.
I still think you need this extra add-in to pick up the rest of the Symbio folders though.

Still running - started 9 hours ago and it is still creating the zip file in the background...
I don't think this is a daily task!
