Remember Sell Media? Well, they just added a new extension to sell prints (or physical goods really). http://graphpaperpress.com/?download=reprints-self-fulfillmentI think they charge $50 for this addon. I would purchase it for Symbiostock today if it was available. But LOL, if you want to make a tick box for "physical goods" I'd settle for that also. - I am working on a niche site that will be selling posters, greeting cards, textiles and other physical goods. At the moment I think I will have to integrate a Woo-Commerce shop on a subdomain - but wouldn't it be lovely if I could do it all from the same site! Leo, if you can expand Symbiostock to include portrait or fine art photographers, your pool of users will exponentially increase. (I pointed you to the photocamel forum for example, they would be all over an affordable proofing gallery that they maintain on their own). Maybe something like this is an option that you can get rich from!

Add me to your mailing list for child themes. Pretty soon you guys will be selling Symbiostock templates on themeforest!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm glad I asked.
Maybe someone has an opinion about this:
click mentioned subdomain "stock-photos" . Does the dash - maybe help with google, or can I leave that out?
I also own domain pixartpress that I should have no probs running sales through my registered business. Any reason to/not-to use this vs sub-domain? I could always point pixartpress to sub-domain so I would have an easier domain to remember.
Rebelstock is mine - but not a registered business so no numbers or bank accounts. I was wondering about running receipts through it from my pixart account. But, wouldn't that confuse the customers?
I do like the name rebelstock though - I registered it years ago when we were talking about a coop. A symbol of the peasants uprising.

Okay, now I'm tripping. Do you see a link in the post above. If you click it does it take you to an Image works site and not just a 404 since I haven't created it yet. (Just tried on the Mac too!) How the heck did that happen?
Edit - okay - whois says they own the "stockphotos.com" domain. Makes sense... !

I have a website for my photography business that is a legitimate business with a license and tax numbers etc. (It would make sense for me to run stock photos through this business too so I don't have to register a new one yet) I have other domains and have been test building a SymStock site on one of them. My main site is a WordPress site, but after reading all the questions to the designer of the template it doesn't play nice with shopping carts and certain plugins. I don't really know what a subdomain is other than it would be www.pixartdesign.stockphotos.com (Maybe?). Now - can I make that subdomain a fully independent site? Can I install a new database and the SS theme independent of my main domain - or does everything run through that main template? Yes, I know next to nothing about this stuff.

- How to change the "above header menu" (upper right corner)? Configuration under "Appearance > Menus" has some effect but two menu items that seem to come with the SS theme show up and aren't even listed under "Appearance > Menus". Any ideas?
I believe this was by default called "categories" so make that your active tab. (or whatever name you have your above header category) If you have items in there you do not want, to remove them you have to expand that bar - see the word "Page" on the right has an arrow beside it, click that arrow and it will expand so you delete that menu item from here. Then don't forget to "save menu". These are two things that made me go "duh!" when it took too long to figure out (Nice red drawing with my finger on the flat mousepad eh!)

I have to say that looking through the categories has been rather inspiring to go out and shoot more - you know like the early days when we would shoot rocks and flowers and bees and sunsets and textures all of those clich things that you would NEVER submit these days. I find that I am not that snap happy any more (my kids are almost photo-less!) but maybe having my own categories and no competition I may go back to shooting anything I fancy.

Looking at this it seems to be a problem could be with the watermark... it is looking for the symbiostock watermark and it isn't there, or it is invalid.
Check the directory to see if it is there....

Well - I'm on Godaddy and I think I've made the suggested fixes and I can't get my own watermark to work. And since v1.17 my photos come up in searches but don't appear on the pages/categories. I think I will have to wait until version 3.3 because I am such a spaz at all this.

Grrr. I'm still having category issues. I'm getting blank search results when you click on the category results. Anyone else having this?
Yes. I got frustrated yesterday and took a rest. I might update theme later today to see if anything changes. FYI - I did add/change a few categories.

Uh-oh. I updated to 1.1.7 and now my image categories are empty!

This isn't exactly a bug, but I wonder if everyone knows it shows like this. Inserting screencapture from both Laurent's and my site:
This happens when you hit the magnifying glass to preview a photo. If you notice under the title it says "by Pixart", but under Laurent's it has his e-mail address. I'm pretty sure these are the names of our admin account. In my case it looks okay, but I'm not sure that Laurent will want his e-mail address under what really is "author".
Sorry - this hasn't been mentioned has it, I'm trying to keep on top of the posting.

Well, I share the same name with a Mad TV character who is a bit more popular than me in the searches (but I'd say I'm 2nd unless it's cookies) - I don't sport the red sweater but I do resemble her a little at the 5:30 ish mark.

Yeah, it's transparent and 520x520 72 dpi. Oh well, at least Leo's works. I had planned to remove the sample photos and start uploading the lot tonight - but better wait until I can figure this out.

Steve many thanks for your help. I updated the theme (without fear).
But cannot fix the watermark issue. I removed my watermark in case I made a mistake with the size and used Leos template so it should be to spec no prob.
I went to my godaddy ftp folder, found the php.ini file - hit "edit" Then added the lines allow_url_fopen = ON allow_url_include = ON allow_furl_open = true
Still getting the error message.
I DO NOT get the error message when I go back to the S default watermark and upload/process photos.
Maybe need to look with fresh eyes tomorrow.

Am I doing this the best way - I don't know!
Make a page and save it.
Go to appearance - menu
Check your new page, add to menu
Then you can drag the items in order. If you want a sub directory you can drag them below that tab and a little to the right - see how my RF STOCK tab has categories but they are indented?
And DONT FORGET TO SAVE, LOL, have done this many times... scroll down there's a blue box.

This was supposed to be a "testing Symbiostock" site, but I will likely keep it live. Site: http://www.rebelstock.comHost: Godaddy I haven't worked on the Paypal end of it. Wondering though, should I open up a new Paypal account so buyers don't see a charge from Pixart Design and dispute it because the don't recognise?

May I ask a really stupid question?
When you upload a new version of a theme to Wordpress - that has the same name as the last theme - how do you do it? Do you uninstall the current theme or does this destroy all the work you have done to date?
And 2nd question. I also am having trouble with watermark - I seem to remember Cathy mentioning it in another thread but I cannot find. I just can't understand Steve's help above. Do I have to log into Godaddy to make suggested changes?

The D7100 has just been released and it is supposed to be wonderful at high iso. Scott Kelby gave it quite a good review. I believe the D7000 is being discontinued isn't it? I went from d200-d7000 and the d7000 felt like a toy in my hands, but it is far more responsive - esp taking shots of flying dancers or sports. When shooting a dancer in a jump I would miss more shots than I'd get with the D200 and with the D7000 I would get almost all of the shots. And quite honestly, no matter what they say about camera vs photographer - the newer cameras take better looking photos. More detail in the dark zones, better contrast, greater dynamic range. And using the same lenses, the D200 spends more time hunting for focus which equals losing more shots. Still, it is not about your camera and lenses. It is about your eye and imagination.
A brilliant mind with a d 200 can produce pictures that can outsell any of those fancy upcomlings with ever so many lenses and megapixels. Sure, to a point...but I have 2.8 lenses and I have 5.6 lenses and the difference in quality is vast. Rarely see fringing on the good glass. Can't shoot a subject like deer with the cheap lenses - they come out of the trees at dusk and the shots are useless for the most part with cheap glass. Really tough shooting sports and moving subjects (like toddlers/birds) with the slow glass.

Bummer, I am going to Minneapolis for the week and you are going to release this when I am gone aren't you? I really like the "open network" idea. I'm not sure about the 5 in your network - It would be great for people with same size portfolios, but who is going to want to network with my tiny niche site(s)... But on the other hand - someone who has several niches could link their own sites together. LOL, this may become a popularity contest. Symbiostock Survivor!
