Thank you for your input everyone. I have the image on alamy, should I send them to that link for an EL?
I have no idea what to ask for ... what does shutterstock make off of an EL? Should I just make it what they would earn? They want 5,000 prints ...
I'm not a good at pricing, I would rather be taking the photos than quoting. I always undercut myself too.

Hi everyone. I have opted out of the SS EL license since they cut our royalties for them.
A buyer contacted me and wants the license to print 5000 Pieces of a postcard. I have no clue how this works and what to price it for.
Are there any license templates? I have no clue what to do ...
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

It is interesting to hear all of your stories and views. I just joined and waiting to see how it goes. I have about 1200 photos to migrate over (some I will make RM with them). I will definitely let you all know how the first year goes for me. I'm realistic that it may be possible I get zero revenue for my efforts ...

NO, I'm not doing better with the adobe acquisition ... One good December and that is all. They emailed me once and asked why I don't upload anymore ... why would I upload my photos to make less money. I'm focusing on alamy RM at the moment.

I don't think it matters if it over $600 or not because Photo Spin (yes, remember those guys) sent me one for $107 for 2015. Always report all income though! I just want to know if I need to put it in "OTHER INCOME" or not ... I wait until April to file because sometimes MISC 1099's come in late (or corrected - remember fotolia that one year). The joys of self employment

I just got this email from 123 asking them to confirm:
"With regards to 1099 tax forms for tax filing purposes, it will be made available for download via our Tax Center page early March or earlier."
WHAT! The 1099's are due at the end of January by law! I hope you guys have not already filed ...

Hi everyone, Do you know if istock is sending out MISC 1099's for 2015? I know in the past they don't but things have changed. They actually withheld some of my income because I did not fill in the W-9 in time (before the payment was sent out). Just wondering. I sent a message on Feb 4th and still no response - the email went to [email protected]

I know SS is not exclusive but I've grown tired of uploading my files to other sites when my sales decrease every month.
Seems counter productive. I stopped uploading to fotolia as well. I had a good January (due to someone buying EL's) but it is back to the downward spiral so I don't wish to go exclusive with them.
I think I may just do exclusive or RM with alamy.
MY EMAIL:
"I want to sell some RM photos but they were once sold as RF on Shutterstock and Dreamstime.
Is it okay to delete them from those sites and then list them as RM? Do I have to wait 30 days or anything?"
RESPONSE:
"That wouldnt be a problem neither there will be a waiting period, you can just delete them immediately from the other sites and upload at Alamy straight away."

So you can only sell editorials as RM on alamy? Does alamy offer larger return on exclusive RF photos? 500px does but that watermark issue has me on the fence about it ...

I have opted out of EL's. I am slowly moving to RM and Macro but the problem I am having is that I'm use to seeing day-to-day profits and with the RM, the wait can be difficult. I will definitely need to get use to that.
I think the continued decrease of our "cut" will not stop. Soon our downloads will be 10-5 cents each for subs. I'm planning now to do something before the ship sinks.
I'm not surprised about the Target print. I often find myself looking for the small print ...

My MISC 1099's are shrinking and shrinking every year. It is funny back in 2011-2012 I had huge MISC 1099's from DT and FT, maybe next year I may not even "qualify" for one - (over $600). It is getting worse and worse...
I stopped uploading to DT many months ago.

I'm telling you in a year or 2 our images will be sold for 5 cents. I really see this happening. We will continue to get "exciting news" emails with lower and lower commissions every couple of months.
I just went through my canstock port and deleted all the good images and left the really old ones - from 2008-2009!
I make about $50 a month from them so it won't kill my income. I value my work more than what they see it as.

I opted out. It isn't like I am losing a huge amount of income because EL's are once in a blue moon.
Who knows, in a year or two we may only be earning 5 cents on a sub download photo...
I really don't like fotolia's EL license at all. Is there an opt out for that?

I'm going through this myself and as you mentioned they really should have a button when filing your MISC 1099 that says it was paid out via PayPal.
"if the IRS would just included a box on the 1099-MISC form for people to check off, so that if they are ALSO sending the payment via Paypal. That way, the amount would be deducted from the total 1099-K amount on the tax forms."

Well, from what I read it is more important to file the MISC 1099 over the 1099-k ...
I am calling the IRS tomorrow ...
Normally I don't have over 200 transactions in a year but this year I had a couple of different (very very small) jobs going on ...

I get paid via PayPal from all the agencies and they send my a 1099 at the end of the year but now PayPal is sending one too. So there will be duplicate monies. Is this new to anyone else? It is going to look like I made way more than I really did because they are reporting it twice to the IRS.
