anyone getting paid yet ?  ???

yes a few bucks so far but still waiting that they fix IPTC (isn't working at least for me)

6527
I sent them a test batch and they rejected everything. I think this recent campaign is an effort to lure some of the big names in microstock into their fold, but I don't think it will work.

what have you sent?.. I have really average portraits, little concept and they are getting in.. don't get why they are acting like that with you..

It's my usual non-people average stuff. I get 60 - 70 % approval on stockfresh so they should have taken some at least. The other thing is they require you to put a category and a dominant color for each image as part of the submission process. That's not worth the effort for me. You can't just upload and forget about it.

Yes it hard work.. (how about I am waiting for 6 months at stockfresh :P)

they look good, the sunset is better at 100%.. have you edit them a lot? I see that the downtown no but the other seem to have something.. I say this because I dont edit, almost nothing, just wb and some exposure sometimes..

do you have more subjects? to have a different third pic? try for a more stocky picture, I would say perhaps a portrait (dont need to have a strict concept) or a isolation maybe

you can also just pull a little the right part of the sunset picture, align a little the horizon

downtown - crop it a little down BELOW the rocks at the centre left, dont think this black is a good idea.. can you make it and get I guess at least 7megapixels?.. (because of FT and IS sizes)

I like a lot your pictures but the sunset, sunrise etc are a little in abundance..

like this one a lot http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5977/img283345tonemapped.jpg

also like the first sunset picture you place on your first post..

can you come up with a model shot or a isolation? a little of everything is good to reviewer..

san diego cropped, sunset or that rock picture.. I guess they will get, are they good at 100% zoom? san diego has trademarks on buildings? remove them ..

first picture - whats the max size you have for it?? why don't make it panoramic? the bottom is still distracing..
second picture - liked it better but again the sky is blowout.. don't think its a good option
third picture - a lot more better the other sunset pic

what kind of pics you have more?

hi there

first picture I would crop it a little bit at the bottom, the beach is a little distracting..
second picture I would send another, what is the concept in it?
third picture I love it, it rocks in my opinion.. but dont know if IS will take it

nice job

I read something like there are 3 levels of photographers that received different commissions.

http://www.viscoimages.com/page/artist_agreement/

it seems that everyone starts as level 1? or the reviewer decides it? can we move up to higher level?

the uploading bonus is the lowest $0.15.. $0.25 for images with model release.

Visco Images uses 3 different qualification levels for the contributors that give opportunity for the best photographers/artists to submit more images at a time by using FTP upload process and earn even more money. The qualification process starts immediately right after you have completed your first submission. During this process our expert will analyze your image quality and your skills in needed programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or so on depending on the type of images you provide. You will receive e-mail confirmation when your qualification is done.

YES the reviewers decide

StockFresh / Re: StockFresh - from Peter Hamza and Andras Pfaff

anybody out there?? (talking to "contributors")
Yes, they're fine. I just bought my second Ferrari from my commissions there.  :P

Seriously, they are very picky on nature and city shots, more picky than IS on technical quality. Models are always fine with them. They are a bit carnivorous, like Fotolia.
The acceptance policy is certainly different from the one of StockXpert before, even if they have the same reviewers.
It's clearly a choice. They want the best, as jbarber873 said.

If you applied with only city/nature shots, that was perhaps a mistake. I only applied with recent models. I sneaked in my nature later.  ;)

I see :) my batch had a little of everything but low quality overall :P I have placed also port links but I suck big time I will wait because I want a Ferrari also

General Stock Discussion / Re: Yuri A?
« on: November 24, 2010, 18:57 »
Yuri is a smart guy but his model is flawed. DNY59 at iS has it right.

Hey Oxman. Will you post a link. I would love to see this. :)

Yuri, you summed up my thoughts. You have alot of overhead and have saturated the market with your  excellent high key images which have been copied and added to the saturation of the business, lifestyle high-key shots. That worked great in 2005 but things are changing now as you have mentioned on your blog.

looking at your portfolio that you add on a post a few days ago regarding income projections I see you are doing some model shoots.. so?? where are you heading?? (I am not complaining or telling that you shoudn't do that, I am just questioning why telling this to Yuri..) I can add also that if you are only in microstock since July I get that you know a lot from 2005 :P (when Yuri had like 500 photos... :P)

Where do they get the money to pay us?  I'm not interested in sites like this anymore, I want sales.  I have been paid to upload a few times and my portfolio just sites there for a year with hardly any sales.

I did a quick search and wasn't impressed.  They shouldn't be selling this one as RF, it's a trademark.

they have also Eiffel tower by night, but they will change that for sure :)

« on: November 24, 2010, 14:48 »
Some people get unusually low numbers of downloads and others get a great day and EL's.  That's what makes it like a lottery.

I can see why that seems unfair, and might feel the same if I had not gotten decent sales yesterday.

OTOH, making it by portfolio size would have been even more unfair.  There are a lot of people with thousands of objects isolated on white that never sell, and plenty of others with small, but highly saleable portfolios.  Rewarding quantity over quality is not the answer.

Bottom line is DT didn't have to do this at all.  They threw us a bone and we can either bitch about it or enjoy it...

true, it was a great day (not for me).. had a EL the previous day.. lol :P

General Stock Discussion / Re: Zack Arias on microstock
« on: November 24, 2010, 14:45 »
Why is it so hard for some to understand that unsustainabilty issue? When that guy at istock said it's unsustainable on their side, that was obvious bullsh*t and an insult to everybody's intelligence. What a shameless bloke ( nice community site, yeah : ). But as the sites get (over)saturated, the micro payments don't pile up most of the time, and it's not worth shooting for it. Heck, it won't even pay for the goddam shutter wear. It's gonna become unsustainable for the contributors, but that won't bother the sites for a long time. The few downloads pile up for them, but not for you.

overall, what do you want with your continuous posts regarding microstock?? I really don't understand what's your point.. Everybody knows what they are doing, don't understand so many concern!

« on: November 22, 2010, 20:18 »
I did, my point is that IS isn't worried if they have low performance contributors they are just looking into fill even more their pockets, it is ridiculous to think how much they need to breakeven, they earn enough and nobody should waste time thinking why they cut, increase, breakeven, etc... the lower contributors (myself) have given enough already to pay the reviewers work, ads or storage..

You're right. I'm going to go quit wasting time on posts like this and go make more money.

I do the same when everybody complains that stock is dead, sure it is :)

I look at it like anyone with 9644 files in their port (sjlocke) or 6000+ files (lisafx) and all the others who have been around awhile, not only have helped grow the company and deserve rewards, but should be allowed to slack off just a little if they wanted to without being punished.

@ RT... :)

...
What about someone who has 6,000+ files and only a couple thousand downloads since 2002? Did they really help grow the company?
....

Absolutely yes. 2000 DL's is a nice profit on those files. what's that, like 20-30 gigs? probably less. storage is cheap, that's why this business is hugely profitable, most of you have no idea how hugely. you people really do fall for that 'unsustainable' crap? why do you think getty bothered with buying them? Jesus... plz THINK. They would have large profits with third of the sales, thats why they can get away with running it so stupidly.

While I don't disagree that the business is probably hugely profitable, do you think the only cost of running the business is storage?

I don't know what IS's breakeven is per contributor. Do you?

I remember a topic while ago regarding Google, they have a profitable business right? IS doesn't have for sure or something is wrong.. The cut is on every contributor not just the smaller one, exclusive or not, people making 40k a year isn't good to IS?

6547
I never used isyndica or other and I found this very nice maybe because of the 15$ per month for unlimited uploading.. I have tried it minutes ago and it works pretty good to SS (one of the two that I tried)

the only "problem" is with istockphoto..

categories issue: OBJECTS.. ISOLATED (on the secundary)
this categories are made from SS categories right?

when I open IS it goes online/pending but like reduces 35keywords to 15 (one of those "isolated") and categories put it on HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS.. I guess it is just IS right? we need to have patience :P

I will try other agencies to see how they go, why don't you also talk about these kind of bugs.. honestly I am thinking of joining :)

FT isn't:
- adding title
- adding categories
- submitting..

have seen now categories matchmaking..

it needs a lot of improving, it is a great work but I guess when we have agencies that have so many differences, categories, keywords.. not easy, I guess I will stick with my manual mode!

« on: November 19, 2010, 16:45 »
A slightly personal question (and on a complete tangent) - is the port size on each of the sites a reflection on the toughness of the reviewers?   :-\

YES.. I try to upload the same pictures to all agencies.. Only IS is different once I started with only 15 uploads weekly, then the 18 and time ago the 20.. But I have only 56% approval so a smaller portfolio.. DT also takes a lot of time to review so I got always a few from the previous month.. Every agency is having totally different pictures, some approve others not.. On IS I try to put the pictures that sold a little better on SS or other agencies, picking the best possible batch every week

how about some stats? (I add a little increase on Oct, but not done yet..)

I think that you will be a lot better than what I am these days.. so keep up! (not easy to upload, work, rejections etc..)

go for the quality, you would do a lot better.. (dont have much but I am working to get there)
