Thanks, Luis.  I had stopped daily checks, only looking for the monthly sales.  I'll have to check more often ... and keep my fingers crossed.  :-) 8)

yes but today for the first time a pay per down

To me it sounds like an accounting error. For one thing, StockXpert no longer exists. What you SHOULD be getting paid for are images that moved from StockXpert to Thinkstock when Getty bought StockXpert, if you opted in to that nonsense. And Thinkstock is a subscription-based site. Unless something has changed (actually, a LOT has changed) you shouldn't be seeing ANY PPDs coming from StockXpert/Thinkstock.

Just got a single pay-per-dowload $26.00 sale posted to StockXpert? I didn't know that could happen, so far only 25 cent sales, anyone else ever see that?  It was also reported separately from the subscription sales on a different date. hmm is there hope for thinkstock after all...this boosts the usual $5 dollars a month a little.

had a 6.6$

Where are y'all seeing this?  Doesn't StockXpert update only once a month?

yes but today for the first time a pay per down

Actually I was going to pass this thread but I am passing a lot lately so I wanna say something if I may..

I agree with Paulie (once more).. BUT there a lot of things that can change the progress of a novice:

- learning fast (mainly shooting a lot, think when shooting, not just "clicking")
- give always your best on camera (just using RAW for a month now, 99% of my pictures have no post-processing, maybe that's why I am not better these days but I haven't wasted time on pc.. just some minor cloning, aligning, cropping when needed)
- look for niches
- work harder month after month!

And subs for .25... SS pays that (and they have thousands of contributors) and if you have a problem with that don't upload.

I currently earn 0.38c at SS. Add to that an increasing number of on demand downloads at $1.24/2.85 per download SS is hardly comparable to Crestock.

I guess you have said quite good.. HARDLY COMPARABLE! I can add one more HARDLY! :P

curious.. when I have registered here at MSG I was only 25 but a little before your registration I went to 26 :P

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia - What currency are you paid in?
« on: October 19, 2010, 19:16 »
I initially registered via the US site, thus getting paid in USD, but decided to make the switch to Euro.

I contacted support with a (thought through) request / approach (Uploading all images  - roughly 1500 in total - to the new account, then closing the old account via FT's support, and only then submitting the uploaded images to the new account)

My findings:
- Uploading all images prior to submitting the lot took a lot of time, but hardly any effort (upload speed issue)
- FT support closed the old account within a day or two
- Submitting them took less time - MR's are conveniently stored by upload date, and with that knowledge from my old account, I took that into account on determining the upload order). In total, it took me about 12 hrs.
- Review was swift; the first images were already approved before I finished submitting the lot.
- More images were accepted, compared to the old portfolio. A lucky break, I guess.
- Sales levels improved considerably. Not sure why, they just did.

In hindsight, I think it was worth the effort.

they have proposed me the same but I guess I am afraid of losing a few pictures that are having a few nice sales.. and also uploading again everything and now I guess even harder to get in.. I guess I will wait them to change this.. which is very unfair to contributors who keep up with them

It's strange my girlfriend has hers in Euros because she registered overseas.  Guess that's a positive right.

how can this be possible right?.. just because of the registering link.. we are losing a lot of money and FT is PUTTING IT on their pockets.. a lot of emails and no positive answer.. there should be a law or something but nothing..!

honestly we should have the currency of the country we are living.. end of story!

i dont think that doing micro could make you become a better photographer.Doing micro is just for the commercial purpose and its not a real photography.Commercial photography is just for the customers not for the art...thats it!! :(

Um, maybe I misread the question, but I don't see them asking if shooting microstock has made you a better "artist".  Just a better photographer.

Anyone who thinks photography is "art" probably doesn't know any real artists.  You know - people who use brushes, paints, pencils, clay, etc. to create something beautiful and/or emotionally moving from nothing...

When people suggest what I do (commercial photography) is "art" I always laugh and deny it.  I live with an actual artist, and there is absolutely no comparison.

But in answer to the original question (from over a year ago  :o ) yes, microstock has made me a much better photographer in several ways:  I know how to light and expose in all sorts of conditions, I am better at directing models, and I have learned loads about how to post process an image.

And to reiterate, no that does not make me a better "artist"   ::)

I agree but sometimes I feel that I have 1 or 2 very nice photos.. I need that.. Without feeling that would be harder to keep up :P

FT is the second fastest reviewing site for me. Right after Stockfresh. My pictures get reviewed usually with in few hours.

wow.. I never had them reviewed in less than day after uploading.. After that day yes they are reviewed in minutes..

FT doesn't have any initial submission as I remember so why don't you try to contact FT support?.. Don't get upset with the pre-formated answers :P
