I believe that print based newspapers will soon be extinct. All the more reason to want it for a prop! Imaging the photographic possibilities... Grandpa and grandson with grandpa explaining about how news used to be delivered "by hand" in the old days!

I wonder where you could get something like that printed on actual newsprint. It would be a useful prop if you didn't have to worry about model/property releases.

No, Lisa, not you! You're one of the few that are unfailingly polite and I do appreciate that. There's not much common courtesy left in the world.

If your costs per shoot were several hundred dollars or more and many hours of planning and shooting, then you might feel very differently... Some of my shoots fall into that category and some don't. I was merely making the point that before microstock, I made $0 from my camera. Not the case now. However, I didn't take into account the difference in quality in what I produce now vs then. So thanks everyone for jumping down my throat for expressing my opinion.

Before microstock, how many of us earned ANYTHING from stock photos? I think that is something that many of us lose sight of on a regular basis.
We all wish that we made more per sale. However, compared to making nothing, what the sites pay us is much better!

I use PhotoMechanic. It's very fast for previewing images and vectors, it has built in ftp, can import photos and has great keywording tools. You can also write structured keyword lists for the areas you use the most (or buy the list from controlled vocabulary).
+1 I love the ability to copy and paste IPTC data.

I'm happy to be able to buy from Peter again. StockXpert was always my first choice when I needed images that I didn't have or couldn't produce. I can't be the only one!
And now to get OT for a moment... How do you think the message below (a screenshot from IS just a couple of minutes ago) will help sales?

It is probably the way that DT has their API set up. Rather than provide language that will search all DT photos, their API most likely only includes photographers that are opted into partner program. I would imagine that this saves them having to provide two different versions.
Just a guess.

It seems to me (and I may be incorrect) that these websites are constructed SOLELY TO DRIVE BUYERS TO DREAMSTIME. There is no ability for a visitor to purchase images from jareso. Everyone should be happy that he is taking the time to increase OUR sales with no cost to us!

I wonder if you wrote something up and both of you signed it in front of a notary...

I seem to being doing fairly well there. I have a 70.3% acceptance ratio. Though keep in mind that is from all the photos ever uploaded (not just during dash for cash). I am not too far from first payout.

Tamron 28-75 2.8
I love it! Had it for my Nikon and when I got the 5D II there was no choice for me regarding the first lens to purchase for it.

I don't have any answers for you, but wanted to tell you that I like your work. Good luck!

It's my understanding that you have to buy a new license for each website if you would like to use the same image for more than one project.
I could be wrong though.

Not that anyone probably cares, but my plan tomorrow is to run both CFL hot-lights and strobes at the same time. I'll set my white balance for having both on when I shoot stills and recalibrate for video. We'll see...
PS Thanks for the good luck wishes Lisa!

I agree about shooting people with hot-lights. In the beginning of my stock "career", I only shot objects and used a tripod all of the time. I was just saying that the 500 watt equivalent compact fluorescent bulbs seem to work well enough for video. They also have the advantage of being MUCH cooler than halogens!

^^ Great point!
When I started shooting stills, I used hot-lights and still have some of them around. I've been playing with video and those old CFL's are working out just fine.
