My idea is not to create competition for micro sites because they are our bread and butter.
But recently I went into a poster shop and a guy showed me a book of poster photos they get from an Australian photo lab.
HOW ABOUT THIS!
We come up with a series of photos we all think will sell as posters etc. Then we approach a professional photo lab in our area about getting a deal done where they provide the printing. Then we approach these poster shops about selling the images and setting them up with books etc.
It would have to work like a 30-40-30% deal I think. Basically we provide the images to the lab, the retailer makes orders over the phone. the lab prints them and sends them out.
It would be our responsibility to approach the retailers.
What you guys think?

Canakris, you really need to work on your keywords at DT. you should be getting a lot more sales than you are with those nice images

Kid looks a bit scared. She looks too overpowering, not sure what it could be used for. blond (boy, blonde = girl) hair is too difficult to isolate on white background.
Clothing is poor choice on both models, I would have used blue to highlight the boy's eyes

Two things:
Big Stock is a Big dissapointment for me.
AND
glad to hear the StockXpert is not that great a performer for others. After 5 knockbacks I can safely say i will not bother to apply again until they get up to the performance of SS or DT.

privacy is out of control in this country.
i had a cop take my camera off me after taking a photo of a lion statue in a park after some clown suggested i was taking photos of kids.

I am only new to micro, but I reckon you guys have hit it on the head.
the views are each of us checking out other photographers stuff, plus
people who have subscriptions to buy off other sites, just seeing if there is an original at CanStockPhoto they cannot get anywhere else

all we need is someone from Iceland, Greenland, Russia, China, and Japan ... and we could take over the world!

SS is the only reason I have stuck with it ... they are as fussy as hell, but what they accept sells. $100 a month from only 51 photos is my reason.

Is this a sign of things to come?

well i have been stuck in the queue to get accepted for a while. waiting on my third rejection. of course i used my best sellers from DT and SS so the rejections are always a hoot. At least I still have my humour.

BigStock is very dissapointing for me. About 100 images and only $14. I can't justify the time and effort to load unless I see some $ improvement.
SS is #1, DT #2, Fotolia #3, 123rf #4, ISP #5, BigStock #6, CanStockPhoto #7
StockXpert reject my applications, Gimme is dead, Crestock a waste of time. Can't be bothered with LO, FP, IV, or SSP.

$20 very handy. Pushed me over the $100. Looks like now I can look forward to one payout each per month from both SS and DT. Slow going so far, but getting there slowly. Starting to get the idea.

Mind you, it was only 3 images ...
One before that was 50% of 30 images
Submission before that was 0% of 40 images

CJ and Photovan make a good point. Most of mine are submitted at 6.1mp. But most of my sales are small web shots. Very rare for me to get a big shot sale.

no full size sensor, no sense in an upgrade
Ummmm.... what does the size of the sensor have to do with it?
lens conversion. costs heaps to get wide angles

fotolia is really starting to happen for me now. SS is by far the seller, but getting them to accept anything is a nightmare. For me, I still use DT as my benchmark.
Really starting to get both bored and annoyed with iStock.
And simply cannot get accepted into StockXpert. But from what I hear it might not be worth the hassle
