I think it's important to realize that most of us (working in the USA, for example) are not trying to simulate an group of a different ethnicity shot in another country by a photographer of a different ethnicity. We are trying to make a melting pot of Americans. If there is one of this ethnicity or one of that ethnicity in the group, it is unlikely all this concern about skin tone matters.

Mr. Locke has a very sharing personality that he tries to hide now and then with tough statements.
Yeah, I'm a big teddy bear. Grrrrr.

Do you guys any idea what I should shoot?
While we all share some info, we are not all here to educate and push our competition. I believe all the info you need is out there somewhere, you just need to find it.

A useful tineye.com tool would be able to take your entire portfolio and find similars on a certain site, like zazzle or whatever, instead of one by one, everywhere online.
Good job on your new cash!

I don't know if anything has changed since then.
Yeah, it doesn't work now ...

"slobo" is not an administrator, or moderator. Just a contributor.

Remember when building an Asian ethnic cast to understand the cultural differences when grouping the people. Some Asians do not get along well with others and to many of us the differences may appear small but to the buyer it is clear as day. This goes for any culture that is different than your own. Do your research first or have someone on the set that knows the subtle differences in that specific culture.
Really? When offering micro-model fees for payment, you're able to cherry pick amateur models enough to build a particular cast around skin tones? It's all I can do to get people who know how to smile, let alone of a certain ethnicity, let alone a certain skin color ... Or are you referring to a macro shoot with a budget in the thousands, using a modeling agency?

To the OP, if you can't take comments an criticism from the collective knowledge, then I'm not sure why you posted in the first place in a forum where the contributors content and time are both valuable.

Stop freaking out. All Getty wants is a photo of the model in that space. You are uploading a photo of the model with the release, right? Just cut out their face and paste it in the box.

I still don't see or hear anything that makes this any different from any other stock site. Every site out there has people from Getty (vivozoom anyone?) or istock, etc. Just because you live in India doesn't mean you'll have some magic hold on that market, especially with a generic name like 'stockimagebank'... IMO...

If one had any insight, one would probably do best using it to their own advantage, but it's pretty obvious buyers like to ask for diverse groups.

Yes, you can sell RM wherever you want. Or donate as RM. But not the same image you are selling as RF at istock; that would cheat istock and the customer who bought this image as RM as well. Once one image is sold as RF it can't never be RM.
Yes it can. As mentioned before, you would just not be able to offer history or exclusivity as additional options.

We are positioning niche. As the site evolves, those interested and willing to understand my vision can contact me for submissions. My first requirement being Travel Images, in highest resolution possible. Now we're talking business. ;-) Conventional microstocks are not a good outlet for travel. Does that include editorial?
But before uploading, where is the TOS, the upload tool, the pricing/fees scheme and your business info?
Why would travel snaps be any more successful on a new micro site than an existing site? Note to OP. Read the above post about making your niche "Indian content". Right now saying you're not going to accept everyone doesn't sound like any niche. Sounds like just another wanna be micro.

Doesn't make that much sense to me. The same Internet is available worldwide. It's just a matter of marketing existing sites in countries with currently low sales. Just because a site is based in India bur has the same content as everywhere else doesn't mean Indians are going to flock to it more than anywhere else. IMO.

Jonathan, your understanding of what istock's goals are makes total sense. Although after seeing the impressive quality of your work I can't help but wonder if they are making the wrong decision to limit your ability and that of other similarly experienced individuals to get your portfolios on the site.
No, there are plenty of talented individuals who have paid their dues as iStock exclusive contributors who are able to benefit from this.

if this is Yuri's expectation and he sell like hot tamales. what do we normal folks expect for our own profit margin? how can this be sustainable? (quote Phil).
Yuri, nice guy that he is, isn't the end all of everything shot by a camera. Don't despair.

No one said it was the smartest business model...
Sean, are you saying that you have yet to turn a profit?
I just do this for fun and support it with my Powerball winnings Just saying exhorbitant production costs and overhead may not be the way to go for every one.

Are you saying there is no banding in the image OR you can't see the banding in the image OR you think an image with banding is completely acceptable?
Yeah, I can't figure out what position he is trying to take.

I was late for Memorial Day Weekend but I posted photos from grilling after anyway. Now some them have been sold. I guess next long weekend is coming :-)
Did you buy the grill from Costco that had one of my pictures on the box?
I hope that the picture on the box is the same make and model as the grill inside the box.

They covered up most of the grill with the text part of the label ...

I have no idea where my friends bought their grill :-) What brand are you talking about?
I don't know. My wife saw it...

"the cloud" ? You mean this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing ? That mentions: Cloud computing customers do not generally own the physical infrastructure serving as host to the software platform in question. Instead, they avoid capital expenditure by renting usage from a third-party provider. They consume resources as a service and pay only for resources that they use.

Yes, you wouldn't want to actually fix the problem when someone out there will take it.

They are having trouble with the fact that I purchased most of the models I use in my 3D renders, instead of creating the models myself. I thought I could clear everything up when I proved to them that my use of the models was permitted under the vendor's license agreement, but as of yet they are not satisfied with this and my account remains frozen.
istockphoto does not allow to use 3d models that you purchased too
Sure you can.
