« on: July 04, 2010, 13:51 »
just to let you know I have created this and also to other agencies, once I am seeing if it is worth getting a new camera with more megapixels :)

havent decided yet because just IS and FT would make a difference! IS 20%, FT 15%..

I guess that I would have to count them one by one. That's too much work for me!
LOL I understand make just a month

I find it very interesting! Do you have an easy way to compile those stats or just counting them yourself?

Also, what period is covered?

It was quite fast because I have all my sales on a excel spreadsheet, the period is since the start at IS

XS (65) 38%
S (38) 22%
M (25) 15%
L (35) 20%
EL (2) 1%

if you would like to share yours please feel free

General Stock Discussion / Re: June Stats Anyone?
« on: July 03, 2010, 18:34 »
I did not finish updating my spreadsheet, but June was slightly better than May. FT as best earner, followed by DT and IS.  A bit far away comes BigStock in 4th place, but in fact Zazzle produced better earnings than BigStock.

Although May was better in DT than June, I have seen some nice credit sales lately. If I could only get rid of subs...

I would change them to regular :P

All those months and years uploading to StockXpert! and for what? ...to eventually delete everything!

Who can say they won't sell it again?

Who will guarantee that If I waste my months on this one, it will be worth the effort?

we really don't know, they have a certain background.. as a regular I will wait and check :)

again a BME, I can say that only IS under perform, I guess for my usual earnings..

Guess nobody's heard anything recently...... 8)=tom

I got accepted a couple of days ago, very easy upload process and very similar in style to how it was at StockXpert, although they have imposed daily limits, I may consider sending all my stuff in by DVD. Attaching model releases is a breeze as is editing the IPTC data (if you choose to).

eheh congrats :) you are no longer a regular eheh

And, I too am glad that Shutterstock/Corbis did not follow the Getty example by closing down the BS site or blindly continue that unsuccessful attempt at transferring OD sales to Big Stock.

Eh... Corbis have nothing to do with either Shutterstock or Bigstock

SS and Corbis :)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Graffiti and releases
« on: July 01, 2010, 08:43 »
Yup, it's kinda nuts how things work in this situation...
I guess there's reason to it all. How do they know that the graffiti isn't, in fact, legal and therefore not "public property".
In my case, I took photos of public propery, under a bridge.

Well, I give up. Some pretty awesome work, but I'll just keep it for my self ;)
Oh, wait, I don't get to make money off it.. :(

submit a few close ups.. :)

If you want to attack it like a business then forget about what your monthly sales are and look at your monthly, 1/4, year profits. $3500 a month might sound impressive to some people but what goes in your pocket? A person could make a million dollars but if they're operating on a 20% profit then they are actually failing horribly. How much money you bring in doesn't mean anything  ... it's how much you keep.

of course.. again talking about Yuri? lol

this kind of topics are getting famous at MSG... 3.5k?? still thinking??

« on: June 30, 2010, 19:31 »
Forget about me, specifically.   The question boils down to this:  increasingly it seems that all the sales at SS are 25 cent subs; ODs are fading away.    Aren't we hurting ourselves by offering the same photos for 25 cents one place, versus higher prices elsewhere?

I get you but I guess SS brings quite a few bucks so we need to keep up, then I guess we would go to another place :P

I don't think anyone got my point.  I make sales at SS just like the others, and I'm satisfied with the number of sales I'm getting.  But at SS a sale nets me only 25 cents, and the number of sales isn't large enough to compensate.  So it seems I'm basically offering the photos for 25 cents at SS and at considerably higher (though varying ) prices elsewhere.   Why compete with myself like this?

why dont you upload more and break the 500$ and then the others.. patience and work!

This is shaping up to be my worst month since December 2007 - back when I only had 1/3 of the images online that I do now. My SS and IS earnings are eroding at an alarming rate.

If this trend continues, I don't know how much longer I'm going to continue uploading. I'm in this business to make money, and I'm starting to wonder if my time is better spent working on projects that generate more income.

I don't see how is that possible with your portfolio...

Ok Luis it's finished.
This is what the Irish are saying right now on TV:
1 - The goalkeeper was great and kept Portugal in the match
2 - Players lacked ambition
3 - Ronaldo only played for himself and not for the team

I'm sorry for Portugal and I'm sure you lost the match because of me. Every single time I want a team to win, it never does.
It's like a curse ...
Chin up, you'll feel a bit better tomorrow :)

no worries! better not to think too much I guess.. :P

i got the cutest reject from Bigstock the other day:
Quote
Reason: Potential copyright / trademark / privacy issue with photo (could be: copyrighted art, visible logo, license plate number, etc) sorry...
Please remove logo on hat... very adorable child!

That little bit of politeness really made my day.

The issue is the tiny teddy bear thingy on this cap (as you can see, DT didn't object):
