If so, would you mind to share which photos sold and/or for how much?

I'm interested in this microstock business but just not sure how much effort to put in.

Thanks!
It's not that this isn't a valid question, it is, it's just a very personal question is all. There are areas where you can see this sort of information but you actually have to invest some of your time shooting, uploading, and taking a few chances with placement to find out.

gambling, while fun and addicting, ruins lives. nuff said

... which was essentially the argument that justified Prohibition. What a great success that programme was. Nuff said.

... still the lives are ruined, prohibition or not, never nuff said.

respected poker players.

Occasionally I read something that is truly funny.

One suggestion, stop using models and start uses actors.
Where do you go looking for actors? Willing to pose for stock??... I would think any actor wants to make it big and it would be same problem as with pro models - they'd want to be able to choose where their face appears...

Actually quite a few do. I've used people and then see them on TV or in commercials later. Most are living paycheck to paycheck so at least a few don't mind shooting stock. I've asked for some particular people from agencies and was told they don't do stock but fewer than you'd think.

Does anyone actually know the bottom line of these "agencies"? The money the little grubbers get to keep? Is it down over last March? Have enough small users downloaded enough of the same old, same old at their 25 per week to keep them in images for the next decade? Although I think most of you folks are really nice people, there is a certain righteousness to watching the micro community react to lose of sales. Too many of you folks thought you lived in an impervious bubble where the graphs only pointed skyward and BMEs could be seen into eternity.

I've had rejections where I wasn't accurate enough in the description of the shoot. I put in "lifestyle" and the person was using a telephone which according to the reviewer didn't depict a lifestyle activity. Imagine doing an average shoot with dozens of props and scenarios and trying to fill in everything in detail? My advice is fill in the date for the witness. I usually get the same person to sign the witness section once a month. How many here actually bring a witness to shoot? Everyone must have model/photographer only shoots once in a while.

It's too easy an option to photograph our children. How would those parents fair if they asked there childrens friends parents for permission to shoot there children for microstock.Would they get a posative response.I will pay you xxxx. The photo will be sold with a licence and could appear anywhere in the world........Dont worry !!!
Sometimes I pay them and other times I don't. Some parents mind, and say so, and others really like the idea, and say so. That's right, don't worry.

Don't bother wasting your time trying to concoct an absurd guilt trip to lay on me, it won't work.

Nothing like that at all. I always push folks a bit further than I should to see  where and why their resolve lies. I usually learn something, thanks.

My daughter is now talking about getting her own agent and keeps negotiating me up in price. I have no idea where you'd get the idea that this is exploiting your kids. You'd be the first stock photographer in history not to do it.

Plenty of us don't sell child pictures. I'm not entirely comfortable with where they could end up or the reaction they might cause from the subject if they pop up 15 years later,  and if I would worry about that for my kids I won't do it with other people's, either.

Plenty? What happens in 15 years time? The child is likely not recognizable in their current form and even they were would likely take pride in their involvement in your work. You're message to your kids may in fact have an opposite effect. Especially once they figure out other kids get to work with their parents. I'd worry about the worrying.

This thread is a case study in how conversational topics deviate.

I'm just waiting for another twist in the discussion until it turns into a perfect example for Godwin's law.

It's rapidly approaching 95%.
