The huge preview is the problem. It doesn't have to big that large.

General Stock Discussion / Re: What are the Best Macro Rights Managed Sites to Try?« on: November 09, 2015, 10:34 »
Thank you for all the information. Maybe I'm too late in the game to enter into alamy but they also have a HUGE preview image so I'm going to stay away from that.
I'm looking into the other websites you mentioned... (I can't self market - I'm just not good at self promotion) 703

Thank you all for the input! I appreciate it so much. I feel like I'm floating around since the SS watermark came out with no place to land...
It looks like Alamy provides a big file size as well when "right-clicking>View Image". FYI, I really love the small town video stores but don't have any time to watch movies anymore ... I miss those Blockbuster days for sure! 704
General Stock Discussion / What are the Best Macro Rights Managed Sites to Try?« on: November 07, 2015, 12:23 »
Hello microstockers,
Now that SS is giving our work away for free, I'm willing to try macro or rights managed websites. Are there any that are really good? I found Corbis and am ready to submit my application. What are your personal thoughts? I really appreciate it. Thanks guys! 705

Shutterstock.com / Re: Large image previews on SS ?« on: November 03, 2015, 09:53 »
I understand your point, yes, many of my images are on blogs, facebook etc without watermarks but with the SS watermark someone can just click on my entire portfolio and steal the images right at their fingertips and assume it is okay because they are just "stock images". I think theft occurs more with stock images because people assume it is okay. The "photo robbers" probably don't just take images off random facebook pages and blogs - they go to stock agencies and then remove the watermark. Just my thoughts... Correct me if I am wrong...

Okay so who is going through uploading withdrawal waiting for them to fix this?
I really don't like them putting the high resolution images online at all! No watermark will make me feel safe because they are so easy to remove ... 708

I'm not uploading to SS anymore until this problem is fixed. I have a whole new batch I was going to upload but now I really don't see the point. My heart hurts because I enjoy doing stock.
DT has a feature where you can zoom in on parts of the image. Couldn't they do something like that? There has got to be another way(e)! 709

I told my husband about this and he said "won't SS lose money if people can just steal the images?" Doesn't ss realize THEY will lose money too in the long run by doing this?
I couldn't sleep last night over this ... 710

General Stock Discussion / Re: I quit microstock and you can too!« on: October 19, 2015, 08:21 »
stockmarketer, I feel the same way as you. It is very frustrating to spend lots of time and money on new work and making even less. Right now, I have decided I will only upload to SS. I am not going to upload new content to 123 or Dreamstime anymore. Every month it gets worse and worse even after adding new content every month. Last October 2014 was fantastic but I will make less than half this October 2015.
I can't sleep at night because of the stress of microstock and the decreased sales. Very frustrating. I really don't want a 9-5 job though so I will have to hang on to SS earning for as long as I can... 713
General Photography Discussion / Local Photographer wants to Collaborate with me for Mini Sessions - Is it Safe?« on: September 05, 2015, 12:39 »
I appreciate your advice and reading this topic.
I was contacted by a local photographer to work together and offer a day of mini photo sessions for kids outside. I guess you could say we are competitors - we live in the save area and both photograph families and children. I have heard of her business too. My husband is confused why she wants to work together and asked why does she need me to "join in" with her. Would she take credit for my work? Or possibly take my clients? Is this a common thing for photographers to do? I think my work speaks for itself and I don't really need to work with her but extra money is always nice. Any thoughts is much appreciated! 714
Cameras / Lenses / Re: Upgrading Nikon d90 - Nikon D810 or Canon 5D Mark iii« on: July 31, 2015, 22:20 »
I'm having a hard time adjusting to the D750 but change has always been hard for me. The display images look fine but then when I add them to my computer they are very dark and dull. It is certainly a learning process but LOVE the quality of images produced. I have to adjust everything via post processing. Not sure what is going on... Color balance is Adobe RGB. White balance is auto outside.

General Stock Discussion / How do I resubmit on Shutterstock?« on: July 28, 2015, 08:03 »
Hi fellow stockers,
It has been a long time since I resubmitted to shutterstock. I usually let it go and move on but an image of mine was rejected for title copyright - I'm guessing "superhero" is copyrighted because no other words would make sense. I know things have changed over there. Can anyone let me know the process? I emailed them and have not heard back and searched their FAQ. Thanks! 718
Cameras / Lenses / Re: Upgrading Nikon d90 - Nikon D810 or Canon 5D Mark iii« on: July 27, 2015, 13:21 »
The 810 does seem like a beast of a camera! Look at me spending thousands of dollars to continue doing microstock while the monthly earnings are declining (badly too).
What is going on with 123! They use to be one of my best and now sinking and sinking... I'm still going to buy the 750 though. Microstock is a strange addiction for me... 719
Shutterstock.com / Re: A monday like sunday.« on: July 27, 2015, 13:17 »
It does seem like a Sunday on SS. This July is much slower compared to last year's July.
FT totally sank for me some time ago. They emailed me asking why I have not uploaded anything in over a year. I said it was because of super low sales and they said I need to upload more to get sales. The dollar photo club thing was very shady business too which makes me not want to continue to upload. 720

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Upgrading Nikon d90 - Nikon D810 or Canon 5D Mark iii« on: July 26, 2015, 11:21 »
I think I am going to go with the D750 and spend more on a lens. From what I was reading, there isn't much difference between the 750 and 810 other than the Megapixels.
Sorry to hear about the poor customer service with Nikon. Hopefully nothing goes wrong with mine. I am buying from ebay... 722

I was afraid someone would mention the lens... I will look at the lenses you mentioned. Maybe it is better to downgrade the body to get a better lens ... I think I am losing sleep at night over the many decisions!

You guys are the best! You have reassured me that I am making the right choice with the 810. No camera stores have these cameras in stock so I can't go in and play with them. Thanks so much!

Cameras / Lenses / Upgrading Nikon d90 - Nikon D810 or Canon 5D Mark iii« on: July 24, 2015, 20:26 »
Hi fellow photographers,
After many many years I am ready to upgrade my camera. (I was using a Nikon d90 - I am blushing) I found out that my current DX lens is not good for a Full Frame camera. I am looking at these 2 cameras: Nikon D810 or Canon 5D Mark iii Please help! The Nikon lens would be the: AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR Zoom Lens The Canon lens comes with the kit: EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens What are your professional opinions? The Canon 5d mark has great reviews but the 810 is proving itself too. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated. I know anything will be better than the D90 - haha. |
