General - Top Sites / Re: Big 4?

For me, the meaningful patterns have been obvious from the very beginning, as some sites have regular sales, and some don't. But you are welcome to disregard my data. I apologize if I mislead anyone here, it was not my intention.

I think it would be hard to agree on the big 4 :) For me it is SS,  FT, IS, and StockXpert. DT and 123rf, and BigStock are about the same for me, far behind.

I'm often quite surprised to see such ranking based on a so tiny data set: statistics are significant and become useful only when enough data are taken into account.

In your case, you say that DT is "far behind " IS. You have only 9 downloads at IS and 6 at DT and you are correct: you have 50% more downloads at IS compared to DT... but it corresponds to only 3 downloads!

Anybody is obviously free to give such statistics... I have no problem with that, but all those ranking posts become quite useless unless they are based on a bigger data set.

Just my 2c  ;)

I agree with you. The more data, the more accurate statistics. Then the question comes up, what is enough data? If there are pre-established criteria, perhaps by the rules of this forum, or industry, I wold follow those and refrain from posting about my sales. Until then, I feel free to do so. In my case, I only join IS in November last year, and my sales there are going much faster (in relative terms) to these others sites, StockXpert and FT included. I have posted my dat in relative terms, as everybody else is doing. I invite the moderators of this forum to predefine when the contributors are considered worthy enough to post their data. Thanks.

That IS a great deal Kngkyle! Congrats! Makes me want to upgrade my PC although that is not happening any time soon. :) Ebay can also be a great place to get those. I got a great deal on Ebay for a Dell desktop a long time ago.

Me too, at least she is very productive. :)

I am going for a short while to check it out, unfortunately not to any sessions. I am at work at that time and can't afford to be out for too long. It would be nice to meet people from this forum.  :)

I upload to both, but only StockXpert has regular sales for me. I would suggest you upload your entire portfolio there anyway, since you already have pictures ready. You don't necessarily have to upload regularly in case you find it too time consuming.

MsG reminds on Ms. G or MSG - food additive. I like the dragon_fang's one.

In any case, I will look for you at the convention leaf, to get one of these cards from you :)

Yeah, it was a glitch. I can see my acceptance rate again, and my daily upload limit has gone back to 15.

This type of post is called trolling, one posts controversial messages and gets tons of responses. I think it worked it this case :-)

As melastmohican has said, this is a classic example of internet trolling. People should simply refrain from replying to such posts.

I do not see my acceptance rate on my profile anymore. When I click on upload images, It says that my acceptance rate is 100% and that I can upload up to 75 images per day. I know it wasn't like this before, and I even once encountered the 15 file daily limit when i tried uploading 16 images at once. Is this just a glitch ?

I just had my first EL sale on Fotolia, or anywhere else for that matter :) I know it's not as good as EL on SS or some other sites, but it feels good anyway :)

FT is the site where I had my first image sale ever, when I started last August..

It's also one of my very first images online:

According to your experience, what is the usual review time after images are at QC stage?

It is my first time submitting there after the initial 4 images, and those very fast.

Photo Critique / Re: critique this IS submission rejected
« on: January 17, 2009, 18:30 »
how coincidental, maybe we had the same reviewer. My three submissions were taken outside too but I waited for the lighting to change so as to get 3 variations. They took only one of the three.
Even more ironic is that the other sites also took one of the 3. Get this, the same two were rejected.
Maybe there is a common link among the sites, and buyers do look for the same thing from different sites. (just wondering).

According to them, the common subject for 3 pictures of mine were "male persons doing sporty stuff". You can judge for yourself:

One month later, I got accepted with the first one resubmitted, and these two:

I hope this helps.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: contact IS for keywording rejections
« on: January 17, 2009, 18:00 »
Actually, it has already happened to me a couple of times that the image is accepted, with an additional acceptance note saying that a couple of keywords have been removed since they were not relevant.

Photo Critique / Re: critique this IS submission rejected
« on: January 16, 2009, 12:48 »
Just to stress what Whitechild has said about images being different; one of my applications was rejected simply because they thought images were "too similar in subject matter or style". All of them were taken outside on a sunny day, for example, and they wanted to see how one shoots in different lighting situations.

You have a great talent, and your determination is clearly there as well. Just keep shooting it's great that you can start at your age. I envy you on that :) I wish these things were around when I was 16 :D

Everybody loves the beach in Rio, staying all day longm if they can.  I don't, in part because my skin can not resist the sun well, and I don't find it fun to spread 50 grade sun blocker to every inch of my uncovered body.  :)

Regards,
Adelaide

I envy you Adelaide. It's not just the beach, it is a really wonderful city .. I know Cariocas complain about living in Rio, but it is certainly one of the places on this planet where I would retire :)
