Thanks for the feedback everyone! My intent is to write a blog to break down what we talked about in the webinar and answer questions I've received before and after that weren't addressed.

Do you have any requests for future topics of discussion in webinars?

Hopefully you can go into the plurals, word stemming. And things like s words that aren't actually plural, like the one in the seminar, Outdoor and Outdoors. I suspect from what Judy said, some of those are coded in, to find the related similar word for either one?

Thanks for clearing up why altering keywords after 30 days, doesn't have the same effect as the words we initially use, when we upload. But She also said, if adding specific descriptive, concept combinations or locations, that would help. The point isn't all or none, about updating and improving keywords on older images.

My Aunts in Chicago used to call the couch a Devenport, you aren't the only one who has heard that term.  ;D I never thought of it, and now I see it's both of antiquated and generic.

Thanks for the feedback Pete. I'm waiting for definitive clarification but the specific example of "outdoors" vs "outdoor" can have two separate meanings. "The Great Outdoors" referencing a vast forest for example as compared to what I perceive "outdoor" to be simply outside. It's a tough example to lock in. It's the classic battle between noun and adjective. Personally, I don't see the harm in using both but you didn't hear it from me ;)

I'm working on a blog summary that will hopefully be published in the not-too-distant-future.

Thanks also for affirming I'm not losing my mind with the couch situation!

Adobe Stock / Hand Washing Search
« on: March 02, 2020, 17:20 »
Hi All,

Thank you to everyone who joined the webinar on search this past Friday. I hope it was informative and that you got something from it. We touched a bit on the current trending search for Wuhan, China content. I've just learned in addition to Wuhan searches, we are seeing an increase in search for effective handwashing techniques right now. If you are looking for something to shoot right now, go find your favorite hand model, get them soaped up and let the hot water run (for at least 20 seconds....it's not just good stock, it's good hygiene!).

In case you missed the webinar about Adobe Stock search, you can view the recording here: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/search-tips-and-tricks

Would someone please explain to me why photos of ballot box (has logos etc from US county doing election, no recognizable person) etc are not illustrative editorial images?

Rejection: File is not illustrative editorial

Can you post the image here so we can take a look. Usually when that rejection reason is applied it's for one of two reasons. There are recognizable people in the image or the file could be submitted for commercial licensing without a release.

Adobe Stock / Delay in approved assets going live
« on: March 02, 2020, 14:14 »
Hi All,

I want to update you on recent Adobe Stock uploads. The indexing for search results is taking us a bit longer than wed like and we are working hard to catch up. We are experiencing a delay of approximately 4 days at the moment but expect this to be resolved soon. We appreciate your patience and, as always, thank you for submitting your content to Adobe Stock.

Kind regards,

Mat Hayward

Adobe Stock / Re: I cannot see my recent photos in portfolio
« on: February 24, 2020, 14:41 »
Hello Everyone!
I've uploaded about 90 photos last week and they were all approved. The problem is that I cannot see those photos in my portfolio nor they are coming up by searching them on adobe stock with any keywords possible. Is this normal or some kind of error?

Thanks in advance!

This is a known issue that the time between approval and visibility in specific portfolios is slower than usual right now. To my knowledge, this should be back to normal reasonably soon.

Thank you,

Mat Hyaward

Adobe Stock / Re: 1099-MISC
« on: February 24, 2020, 14:38 »
fyi, I received mine before the end of January.

Yeah, thanks. I knew that because in January I contacted regular Adobe help and they said I should've received it and to contact Adobe Tax. I did and they said there would be a portal to download it next year! I've sent them one email a week for the past four weeks, and no one has ever responded. Regular Adobe help is just as useless, though they always respond, even if it just to say I should've received a form by now, contact Adobe Tax, and that they have no way themselves of contacting the tax people.

Did you move in 2019? If so, did you update your tax form to reflect your new address? The tax team will get back to you but they are quite busy.

Thanks for your patience,

Mat Hayward

Adobe Stock / Adobe Stock Search Webinar
« on: February 23, 2020, 12:15 »
Hi Everyone,

I've scheduled a webinar with our Senior Product Manager in charge of search this Thursday, February 27 at 2:30PM PST. It would be great if you can attend. We'll do our best to take as many questions as possible during our 45-60 minute conversation about Adobe Stock search. How you can use the tools to your advantage as a contributor at Adobe Stock. I hope to see you there!

A keyword search in there would be much more useful in my opinion.

When trying to add files to collections, I have to go through all my files on there and add them in, I probably miss quite a few doing it that way. A keyword search would make it far easier.

Or am I missing an obvious way of adding to collections?

I hear you. It's on the list..the list is long and the priorities do shift. I don't expect this to happen any time soon but I do realize it's a top request.

Thanks for the feedback,

Mat

I have had some pretty poor experiences dealing with the Adobe help and tax teams. I never received my 1099 this year and attempts to contact the tax team are met with either them ignoring me or telling me that they are working on a system so you can download the form online for next year. When I contact regular Adobe help, they tell me tax forms were sent out in January, immediately close my case, and send me a survey asking how the service was.

I was originally a Fotolia contributor, and as of last year they were still listed as the payer on the 1099. But I have no idea if this is still the case. Does anyone who was originally with Fotolia know it is now Adobe on their forms? And if so could you provide me with their address and TIN? I know exactly how much I was paid, so with that I can file taxes. Thanks!

Hi Martian,

Unfortunately, we don't have access to your tax form in customer service. You will need to go through the tax team directly as advised. As you can imagine, they are pretty busy this time of year so response times may vary. Sorry for the frustrating experience and thank you for your patience!

Hi Anita,

We communicated this as much as possible in December, 2018 including here in MSG: https://www.microstockgroup.com/fotolia-com/payout-minimum-reduced-to-$25/msg523275/#msg523275

Kind regards,

This is a feature that I've been getting requests for since day one.

I'm very pleased to inform you that you can now search for specific assets using the content ID number within the dashboard section of the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal. The "Search By Content ID" box is in the upper right corner of the main dashboard page.

Cheers!

Mat Hayward

Now if they would let us search for content by keyword?

Any sign of that for the future?

No sign I'm seeing of that happening at the moment.

Works for me again too. Thanks Mat! Stephan

I will happily accept all credit for fixing this. :)

In all seriousness, I'm glad it's been sorted out. I'm told a fix was implemented earlier today. I really appreciate the reports and even more so your patience!

Same here, broken on Chrome for PC..

Thanks for the report, I'm not seeing this in my account but have been seeing this reported by other contributors. Our engineering team is looking into it. I'll let you know when I have information to share.

Yes, we are listening.

Adobe Stock / Re: Copyright Payback
« on: February 04, 2020, 12:26 »
A question for Mat or anyone who knows:
Is it possible to get a spreadsheet from AS that has basic info like whether usage was for a book or magazine and the territory it applies to.
I know this is usually rights managed territory, but lately I see a lot RF images with detailed usage info from other sites.  This info is very useful when making claims for copyright payback schemes like DACS in the UK or Access Copyright in Canada.
Finding usage by google searches only returns a small fraction of usages.
Any hope?

No, sorry but we are not able to share customer information.

Kind regards,

Adobe Stock / Re: No social sharing?
« on: February 03, 2020, 19:23 »
Hopefully Matt can chime in on this...

Was just sharing some of my images from my PicFair portfolio to Twitter ( @thpstockphotos if you're interested ) , and it was a breeze.

Figured I'd go do the same from my Adobe Stock portfolio - except there is no sharing option on the image detail pages, unless I'm missing something?

I thought I'd take a look at Shutterstock, and sure enough they have the option to share from the image detail page. However, it's really lacking - it only adds the URL in by default. No description, no hashtags, not even a proper Twitter card to display a nice, full size image.

Just got me wondering why Adobe Stock doesn't have this kind of feature? Surely it'd be a pretty easy win? If it's built out properly (like the PicFair one, although even that could be improved a little) I'm sure contributors would be sharing their images a lot more (at least, I know I would).

It's a good suggestion and would be a nice feature. The development team is working on a lot with the portal to make it a better experience. I'll make sure to share this feedback with the team.

Thanks,

Mat

any information on next phase of availability?

Not at this time, I expect it will remain with the silver rank and above for a while. If you have an established portfolio of Illustrative Editorial you can submit your portfolio via the contact us link found at the bottom of the Adobe Stock Contributor portal for consideration.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Creative Cloud Bonus Program
« on: January 15, 2020, 20:57 »
Thanks Adobe! Got the email.

A question for Mat:

I was keywording a bunch of images today that I uploaded in 2019 but did not finish tagging, so they were still in my "to submit" queue. If Adobe has the Creative Cloud Bonus Program again in 2020, will those images be counted as 2020 uploads? I hope to add a lot more than 300 images in 2020, assuming I will qualify for illustrative editorial during the year, but you never know, and I want to keep track properly for this year. Thanks.

It's a good question. I think the system that automatically determines who is qualified would not count those images. Not 100% sure on that though. Why cut it so close? Keep uploading all year long! :)

It's not a great idea to keep uploaded content unsubmitted in general. The system looks at the upload date to determine where it's at in search. If it sits in your queue for 6 months, the system will see it as a 6 month old photo with no view or download history which implies it's not good and pushed it deeper into search. It's easier said than done I know, I've got files that have been sitting in my queue for a VERY long time.

Mat

Thank you so much for the information!

Do those principles apply equally to any type of content (e.g. images and videos)?

Yes, search should work the same regardless of the content type.

I had 300 accepted and never received the code

Send a ticket via the contact us page found at the bottom of the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal and we'll take a look for you. If you qualified, the code most likely landed in your spam folder.

I finally got a chance to look at webinar, lot of useful information, thank you!
I am wondering about keywords for isolated images. Right now I am using: "isolated, cut out, work path, clipping path". For me, isolated always meant that image has work path included, but in AS search I see there is filter for isolated images and info: "Isolated assets have subjects appear alone on a solid background." I don't know if AS recognizes isolated images by keywords or with Sensei, AI or whatever.

- I guess that we should include words "isolated" and "cut out" anyway - even if images don't have work path?
- I would like to know if work path still stays in image when customer downloads it? I think I have read somewhere that Shutterstock removes it, I am wondering is it same thing on Adobe Stock. If yes, that would be little less work and less keywords for me. Plus, I don't want to mislead customers.

The clipping path is removed when a customer downloads the file so that is an irrelevant keyword that can actually lead to frustration for customers that expect it based on the keyword.

I think it's reasonable to assume some customers would still use the word "isolated" or "cut out" if searching for an image featuring an isolated subject. I wouldn't use it as one of my top 10 keywords but still worth adding to the list in my opinion.
