I'm not putting my rank on here it's pathetic. I am however 2 non-sub sales away from bronze. Yeah that only took nearly 2 years to do pffft.

I tried getting on Graphic River they kept rejecting everything so I gave up on it last year. I may try again but it's difficult and I don't know if I want to put myself through that agony again.

I think mine were about 6 hours as well. Wonder how many slots I have left. I've got 10 left would be nice for once if I could actually use that up. Yeah 18-35 slots seems a bit ridiculous but makes the reviewing faster.

Main site's back up submitters main area looks to be up *does a refresh test to confirm* yeah it's up.
They have got to get a handle on these server issues. Just cleaning up the databases could possibly help. 730

Is the whole bloddy site down? I can't get to the submit area or even to the SS main page.
It can't be my ISP since I'm on here. Just leaving me scratching my head and saying what! 731
Dreamstime.com / Re: Important Dreamstime Announcements - New Pricing Structure« on: April 01, 2011, 18:06 »
Does that new level 0 only apply to images that will be currently uploaded? Because I'm not seeing a change on any of my (200+) files that's never been dl'ed. They're still at level 1.
I'm already physically exhausted today and I don't really want to add brain exhausted to it. 732

I get around 2 sales a month since I started I do believe back in October as well. My port is small with 373 images and no where near payout. I'm giving them until I reach payout and then assess my being with them.

Probably should've been more on the tennis ball than on the out of bounds line in front of it since the actual "focus" of the image is a tennis ball in flight. That's presuming that the tennis ball is somewhat out of focus and it's hard to tell from that size.
*edit* Just noticed the link to the image and it does look slightly OOF on the left of the ball. It's also possible it could get nailed for white balance and lighting. 736
New Sites - General / Re: Odd sale at VectorStock« on: March 22, 2011, 11:44 »
I've been there over a year and don't think that there's a spot on there to view rejected files. I always get the same rejection reason in the email with a link to the most popular images sorted by number of downloads. Doesn't really tell me what they need at all just a form mail without a real reason and none of my rejections were because of technical issues that I know of.
I stopped uploading their this month since out of 25 that I sent in 24 were rejected with we don't need this go check out this page to see what we want. I'm not going to go and copy their best sellers since that's how I feel about it. *sigh* Early on last year it used to okay now I'm not so sure about them. Whatever is going on behind the scenes needs to get sorted out. I had some files waiting over 2 months in pending. Ya can't tell me that there isn't something going on behind the monitor. 737
New Sites - General / Odd sale at VectorStock« on: March 22, 2011, 01:40 »
Got one the other day for $6.25. I'm scratching my head as to what license it would be under as there's no clear cut explanation in either FAQ aside from 1 credit =$1.00. I'm still considered a rookie so my take is 25% but 25% of what amount would give me $6.25. Wait....nevermind it was an expanded license. I did the math and ended up with 50 so don't mind me.
Just wish their statistics were more thorough so I'm not guessing at stuff. *nothing to see here go on about your business * 738

Been having the same problem with batches partially failing. Have a feeling that this next batch of 10 I uploaded is going to have issues as well. We'll see tomorrow if it gets out of the 24 hour processing thing and goes to Awaiting QC. I've got 50 left to upload from my port which, at this rate with the fails, is probably going to take me another 2 months to get done. Wonder what the problem is.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Upload Limits Slashed« on: March 21, 2011, 12:41 »Isn't their maximum images allowed per week rate based on your average % of accepted images? In other words, the higher the % of your images they approve, the more you can submit each week. I'm just under 70% and can only upload 18 a week. It doesn't bother me as I do anywhere from 5-10 a week (vectors) but if I was doing more photographs then I would be highly annoyed or if I could get 20 or more vectors done a week. And I also don't do a ton of similars either (that's what killed my acceptance ratio last year when I got back online because I didn't know about it). Let's just hope that this only lasts a few weeks and things will get back to normal for those that do a high volume of images. It doesn't hurt me but I can really sympathize with those of you that do a lot more than the minimum they're going to take right now. Also makes me wonder if it hurts sales. I also agree that the ones abusing the system should be penalized and not everyone else who follows all the rules and guidelines. 740
General Stock Discussion / Re: Is anyone getting any work done?« on: March 17, 2011, 10:57 »If you get mail delivered to your home, you can print off first class postage within paypal. I just found that out. Used to be just Priority Mail. Print it, tape it to the package and hand it over to your mail man or you can schedule a pick up too. Only restriction is the weight. Over a certain weight has to go across the counter at the post office. OOOO! If that's the case then it might be worth getting back into that. After I posted I realized that my account is like 3 years old and haven't done anything with it so I'm not sure if it's even there anymore. I'll have to check that later on this afternoon. 741

@Pixart I actually did that two weeks ago. Drank my wine listened to some metal and worked on my large crocheted blanket
@Rubyroo you crack me up! That would be something if I could actually do that wouldn't it @LSD72 I'd like to get my Etsy shop and my Zibbet shop going but where we live the closest post office is in the next towns either west or east. We don't have one for some reason. Can't wait for spring either when we can actually go out walking and I'll drag the camera with me. All of the interesting stuff seems to be in everyone else's yard 742
Alamy.com / Re: Alamy keywords« on: March 17, 2011, 00:27 »
I don't repeat keywords either. I'll usually cut and paste from another image file on my computer and then extract the main keywords for that top box. Very rarely do I put keywords in that third box. I'm just not that keyword-y.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Is anyone getting any work done?« on: March 17, 2011, 00:24 »
I got de-motivated back in mid-November. I just got burnt down and out and had to take a break. I'm finally back to making vectors but want to expand my photography skills soon. I get tired and bored really easy but I have to keep going as this is the only income I have right now. I wish I could make better images to make better money but I need some things before that will eventually happen.
I try my best not to work on micro Friday - Sunday. Saturday is my drinking and listen to hard rock/metal night. Seems to have helped me out a bit concerning my creativity and my motivation. I've been blasting through all of my unfinished illustrator files in the last few days and got that folder down to around 15 left to either trash or finish. I can agree that it's extremely hard to find motivation when companies are cutting commissions and rejecting a ton of stuff lately and I'm sure it's not all our fault that this crap has been happening in the last 6-9 months. Take a bit of a break and do something else that you like to do. I knit and crochet on the weekends as well and I always come out of it refreshed and ready to take on the next week. I think sometimes we need to just take a step back and figure out really who we are and what we want to get out of this game. I've had my fair share of rejections and frustrations and ups and downs. Just gotta pick yourself up and say "You will not beat me". Take some time for yourselves. Go and shoot stuff that isn't for stock just for you. Go draw that graphic for yourself and do with it what you wish no one's gonna reject it if you love it. That's all I gotta say (eventhough I think I was just rambling on for the most part 744
Dreamstime.com / Re: Is dreamstime is the slowest in reviewing files for you?« on: March 15, 2011, 00:37 »
No they're not the slowest for me (I'm on another site that took 2 months to review files I uploaded in January). The longest I waited on DT was 2 weeks or so but that was during the holidays. I would write support if it goes longer than 3. I think I remember reading that somewhere on their message board awhile back.

If it is it can take 2 weeks to process. That's about how long it took for me to receive my first payment. I've been getting regular sales there lately so yeah it is worth it. And I agree that it does take some time for new images to get views and sales. 746
CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Did Can Stock raise prices?« on: March 07, 2011, 00:40 »
I got one of those 7.50 sales the other week and couldn't figure it out. The largest sales I've seen before that were 5.00 vector sales. Dunno what that's all about maybe they did raise the vector prices? There's nothing on the forum over there that says anything either.
Maybe Duncan will pop up over here or post something about it over there. Does raise the curiosity level though. 747

Yeah I got a corrected 1099 from Fotolia the other day. Sorry but they didn't physically pay me that amount last year so I'm only going to report what they actually paid me in 2010.
Which reminds me I need to work on that tonight. Never filed a 1099misc before hope I don't screw it up. 749

I just got that too. Noticed that the submit page has an it. in the front that wasn't there before. Tried contacting support hit the button got that 404 error again.
Checked it in Firefox to see if it was an IE issue getting it there too. *edit to add* Looks like they got the message I sent them. Just got the automated response. Hopefully they can clear this issue up soon. |
