And if "hoagie" was officially a part of the CV, it would not have the exclamation point inside the triangle symbol, would it? Don't you have to search in "quotes" to bring up those kinds of terms?
It is in the CV, because it doesn't come up with the option to add it to the CV. Click on the ! : You have found a term that is not an accepted Controlled Vocabulary term. Phrases will not be found in CV searches without double quotes, and the term will not be translated into the other site languages. So, it is not an official CV term, but an added term. It is not a phrase, it is a single word, so it does not need quotes. And it does not get translated. Essentially, someone needs to send this to Jordan, aka keywords. Sub Sandwich, Grinder, Hoagie, Dagwood, should all DA to one term of their choosing to make it official.

Hoagie.

Unfortunately hoagie isn't in the CV either.
Generally I just delete all the words that aren't in the CV before someone can bother wiki-ing them. Your search would seem to indicate there is some value in leaving them in.
Wish the wiki warriors would leave the terms with the triangle/explanation point in, but they don't.
Well, it is in the CV, whether it was added by a contributor or not.

Just search eg. wilderness on SS, IS and then on photographersdirect.com - the result doesnt need any further info. In case Im buyer, I will rather pay $20 per picture instead of $1 rather then dealing with TONS of keyword spamed pics. Designers are maybe not searching something certain but many editors and other buyers need something concrete and if they type "giraffe", they are NOT searching something else.
Anyone who does a one word search like "wilderness" deserves to get a bit of everything.

Are you saying you got the weekly contact sheet, or that you actually got a directed mail about your keywording?

The guy who wrote it added the first 200 or so, so if you're in there, you didn't have to add it. Or if someone else did. Needless to say, there's still going to be a lot of holes the further down you go.

Like you said, it's the top 1000 that join it. Which isn't necessarily everyone

Thanks. I do log in here, and it does take forever to load up, shifting the page about while it does so. I'll try it out later...

In spite of our disagreements on things, it sure is sad to hear that someone lost a fight against cancer. My thoughts go out to his family, and hopefully his portfolio can live on to help those of them who might need it.

You might have a point regarding the term 'indoors' but shouldn't 'school' and 'education' be essential keywords for a textbook shot?
No. "textbook" would be an essential keyword. The rest are spam.
They aren't spam. They are relevant conceptual keywords.
No, they aren't. Why don't you keyword it "library, bookshop, etc" and anywhere else you find a book? How about "tree", since books are made of paper, which comes from trees? BTW, Gizeh, how about providing your iStock link, so we can see some of your other examples of keywording prowess, since you've seemed to take time to examine mine?

"I'm open to any ideas and interested to see what people like."
Contests that aren't just a scheme to get rights to use your images.

I usually do not keyword for any specific agency so I prefer specific keywords over generic ones. I would rather keep only "pumpkin" and get rid of generic ones. More over some of this generic ones like "horizontal" can be auto generated (width > height). Soon every site might have face recognition software which may tell if there are people present :-)
You can do whatever you want. Doesn't mean that they won't get added at IS...

"image" could help someone who might not be looking for a vector and couldn't check off the box. Same for "horizontal" and such. Yes, there are options in "advanced search", but some buyers may have Getty's workflow in mind, as do the keyword inspectors.
And it still isn't spam if it applies.
You don't use a bunch of those generic-ish words at the same time. You use them like: "fishing, dock, summer, outdoors" or "horizontal, nobody, pumpkin"
etc...

It isn't "spamming" if it applies to the image.

Even though his work is exceptional, his break even point must be way down the line, especially if he only averages 10 shots per hour. I'm not downplaying Yuri's success in any way, but everyone thinks Yuri had another 100,000 downloads today... , salaries and expenses must chew quite a bit of that away. If he is not working in a profit pool arrangement , his most successful years are ahead once his most recent shoots are 100% profit.
Except that by the time they pay off, hairstyles and clothing are out of style. I don't think it's a very smart methodology, but maybe I weigh profits over downloads too much.

"the world's best selling stock photographer, Yuri Arcurs"
That's a very bold statement Crestock have made on his behalf, and in true Crestock tradition they even contradict themselves:
They probably got it from the world's number one authority on selling licenses, Yuri Arcurs.

There are 2 programs written by IS members currently available for bulk uploading. Both are free but request donations to help keep them in production. They both have quirks. The biggest downside with these is any time that IS makes a major change to the site it takes a while for the program developers to catch up.
Actually Franky refused my offer of a donation for DM. ... and yes, it would be nice if it was wholly integrated into iStock development.

I had another picture of coffee beans rejected for the word Cappuccino. True there was no Cappuccino there..but coffee beans make cappuccinoto me that seems relevant. I see the point on this..to a degree.but man sometimes I think they are way to picky
Metal is used to make cars. Should we tag images of sheet metal with "automobile, plane, etc."?

Odd. We already have a bulk upload program for the PC.

I agree, and I've spent more than $18000 with B&H.
Its really disappointing that they can't see that loyalty. I will be going elsewhere if I need something for sure.
Anyways, hopefully the marketing people at Adorama can see the potential to steal away a few customers from B&H
What really tweaked me, is that they wouldn't price match Amazon, first of all, and then 1.5 months later, they dropped the price on the Mk3 $200, and wouldn't refund it to me.
