New Sites - General / Re: Is PressFoto dead or alive?
« on: November 18, 2019, 08:44 »

It seems that they are done with this platform and work on the next project, according to the details in the e-mail, called  Everypixel. At the moment only Beta version available, seems to be 'super-search-engine' over 18 agencies.
https://www.everypixel.com/microstock

If this become successful it will force the agencies to lower the prices in order to be competitive. This on one hand, on the other hand will force the contributors to exclude some agencies from support (but as we know this is difficult to happened).
Also this can bring the personal portfolios (websites) in the game of prices and here we'll win always lol.
And overall we talk again about one more factor for lowering the prices.

It was better when they show us the Lifetime and Weekly positions on the same page.

Yes, that's a simple thing, also to me there are some other things that could be improved for us.

Adobe Stock is crashing and burning.

I've been doing this for years.  I'm in their top 100 contributors.  And my earnings are down around 60-70% from LAST YEAR.  Note that my position in the top 100 is virtually unchanged from the past year, meaning that most other top contributors there must be experiencing the same.

On the other hand, at Shutterstock, my earnings are roughly the same from last year.

same here, top50 2015-2019 and still on the same position but the earning are down between 60-70% from last year and from week to week a little bit more down :/

No! Adobe Stock is NOT crashing and burning. I guess you mean your top position in "Lifetime", but your weekly position is dropping. Is that right? This mean just that there are others who sells better this days. If your weekly positions was unchanged and your income decreases this could mean Adobe is "crashing and burning", but I think this is not the case.

Are they effing kidding the contributor has TO PAY to remove their own images??!?!

What a crock of  sheeite

"If Contributor wishes to remove one or more Images from the Company Website it must notify Company in writing of the images that it requires to be removed and pay to Company the prorated Fee (multiplied by two (2) times the prorated Fee) for each Image that is removed. In the event Contributor requests to remove more than ten (10) Images from the Company Website in any calendar month, Contributor shall pay Company three (3) times the prorated Fee for each additional Image that is removed in that calendar month. "

Would be fair we to get fee for each contributed image and then when in case we remove image we'll pay "to Company the prorated Fee" reciprocally lol

Newbie Discussion / Re: Is 500px worth the time?

Anyone with a big sale recently?

Yesterday $31.50 from Getty. Overall to me 500px is absolutely worth.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Adding an agency: Depositphotos?

Submit, test and after a year make conclusions. Every portfolio can have different results in same agency, just try to see. To me Depositphotos in terms of sales potential is obligatory agency for contributing.

Also it's still ridiculous to make two extra clicks every time you check your latest activity.
What happened?

This is the most important for all contributors for sure. We need to see LIVE sales on the page, no refreshes no menus, clicks, no complications. In Shutterstock I have one tab for it opened and I just look at that tab to see my sales in real time on the map, just a perfect.

83
Is something supposed to happen?  I got a confirmation on the page, but it just cleared the fields and stayed there, and I didn't get any email or anything.

And I was wondering about this.

84
Of course Getty wants to migrate all their buyers on to the premium access model, because profit seems to matter more to them than total sum.

gazillions of new contributors join daily to submit gazillions of new images

...but a big part trash images

I'm missing the ranking system, the sales data on each image shown on public...

but I don't miss the difficult upload method in Fotolia...

Forget Depositphotos they only give 30 cent sales never anything higher and the volumes of sales are too low.

Plus you can't delete your images you can only deactivate them.

I have 1500 photos with them and made $400 in 5 years  :'(

Dreamstime are hardly any better in terms of sales however you do tend to get somewhat higher amounts per sale but not often.

I made $1000 in five years with over 2000 images.

Not true, there are sales up to dollar or two, yes less often, but there are. Just to be correct. (There are also sales 0,16 and 0,19 ..)

Not true you say?

I just stated the facts from my experience and for Depositphotos I never had a sale over 34 cents

That's OK if you mention your experience, I just say that they have higher sales for sure.

From pixels to pennies

a catchy slogan for any new agency nowadays.

LOL!

Ah, again pennies. Where disappeared the dollars? lol

Over time, of course, those pennies should add up to dollars. At least there still are sales.

It was a joke, I notice recently very good move on up in Adobe, this month to me will be almost as October 2018 which is good achievement.

89
There are agency ( ClipDealer ) on the list who refuse to pay contributor's royalties and don't reply to the e-mails sent for months!
They don't deserve to get any publicity to help them steal more of the hard earned money from more and more contributors!

How long do you wait for payment?

I have payment request from 3th of August and still wait, sent a couple of emails - no response. They have this very bad practice to delay payments and to not respond emails, but finally always paying. This is my experience, delays and no responses, but payment received.

As for balancing the income ... they added the subs to the monthly tally but that has not been added to the final tally. If you go back several months you will see all the subs that have not been added into your payment total.

I have had tickets in since the 9th and the only response has been an autoresponder. I then asked on FB whether they actually looked at tickets and they assure me they do. They said they would escalate it, so far still no response and the figures are still inaccurate.

Same problem here. Sub earnings not added to my payment total. No response to my ticket to them.

If you mind the October subs earnings, they will appear after the month finish.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Alamy - is it worth it?
« on: October 21, 2019, 14:17 »
I do not sell editorial and can say Alamy give me a more money than iStock for example.
That's interesting. What are your port sizes on each?
My port is a bit (c12%) bigger on Alamy and iS far out-earns Alamy each month (except May this year, first time in ten years Alamy earned more than iS, but that was definitely a one-off, in my case )(e.g. 4.5x more in Sept). But my files are editorial or 'most likely to be used editorially' and that's a big difference. I know some people personally who are doing well with Live News on Alamy, but you're the first commercial shooter I've read of who is doing well there. Well done!

Unfortunately no. I can't say for both that I'm doing well there.
My port in Alamy is double times bigger than iStock. I postpone uploading to iStock from years due the complicated submission process. Alamy is stable while iStock is dropping each month for me. Before a couple of years the proportion was way different in this two.

I wanted to say that it's easy and fast to upload to Alamy and it worth when a man is non-exclusive to use this additional source, but that's simply my opinion.

Crushpixel (46 sales with 2000 images since they opened in Feb 2019)
https://www.crushpixel.com/?ref=4249

Thanks, I think I'll try this one.

So, roughly 2 per month for 2,000 images... Doesn't seem like it would be worth the wear and tear on my keyboard to open a new tab for the site.
https://www.crushpixel.com/?ref=4249

I submit to low earners, yes it cost a bit more work to submit to them, but they all together make good piece of the pie...and I don't have so expensive keyboard lol

94
I wonder if there is agencies not presented in the list on the right by meeting this requirement: The agency to report at least one sale per month per 1000 images on sale.

I'm aware that this is depend of the images, however it will be useful to share if there is some less known until now agency.

By the way on the right have a lot which do not meet this requirement, some of them even do not exist anymore (Macrografiks, PhotoSpin, ViscoImages, Stockami.. )

Time and expense wise Alamy is not really worth it. However people are still prepared to waste tehir time doing it. Some weird sort of masochism IMO

I upload let's say 150 images just with two clicks in 2 sec, then I continue with my other work. After upload i spend 5 min to select releases and some other info in groups usually. And that's it. I don't know how expensive is your time, but to me it absolutely worth uploading to Alamy. I do not sell editorial and can say Alamy give me a more money than iStock for example.

Nice times was when we could see in Fotolia and iStock sales level on each image.

Can't see much of anything on IS.  ::)

Sales by image on AS is there? That's one of my favorite links. https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/insights/top-sellers?

Insights>MyStatistics>Top Sellers... click display statistics

You have to set the date if you want more than the last three months, but you can set it to lifetime by picking some date way back like 2000 and then click.

For me the Adobe visualization (the bar chart of earnings and downloads) only goes back to 2012.

Or for downloads, instead of income, https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/portfolio?limit=100&page=1&sort_by=download_desc

Thanks, but I mean public data for all images not just mine.

I know it's old news, but I'm asking myself now does it mean 50 times less income for the existing photographers in Elements? I mean it's logic if the user can choice/buy for unlimited on the same price not from 1 mln images, but now from 51 mln images.

For the moment I only uploaded a hundred videos on Istock and zero photo, I should perhaps have started by doing the opposite ... do you think it is better that I stop uploder videos ? Is it so bad compared to other stocks? ok for about 15 dollars for one video but not much less ... on average in any case.

If you feed agencies that sell your work for peanuts you'll lose pontential sales on other agencies that pay you better!!!

I'd love to be on that way, but unfortunately it doesn't work on that way. The client who would buy your image in one particular moment on one exact search result in one particular agency, even will buy this image just because of the conviction in the moment.... this client will never buy your image on other agency searching you and your portfolio, or if yes will be in 1% of the cases.
