I have just had my initial 10 approved and in order to decide whether to start the upload process, I need answers to couple of questions from Ryan or anyone else from Veer:
1. I filled in the Tax Form and after completion it said that it looks that I'm going to be taxed 30% cause I live in a non-treaty country. That's fine but am I going to be taxed only on sales coming from US (as it is at Shutterstock) or Veer will tax me on all my sales ?
Also, what about the Dash for Cash program ? Is Veer going to put a tax of 30% on that money as well ?
2. I see my initial 10 approved but I don't see any credits or earnings on my account, are you going to add them up after the Dash for Cash campaign ends or I'm not looking at the right place ?
3. I see a limit of 100 uploads per week and by then end of June there are 6-7 weeks left, does this means that I can't upload more than 700 photos ?
In my opinion, If you want quality images and consistent contributors, raise the upload limit and be more selective in the process of approving images. Also tax the way Shutterstock does, only on sales coming from US.
I see little incentive if I can only upload 700 images. When Fotolia did a similar campaign back in the days when it was a start-up, they didn't have any upload limits and it seems it worked for them quite well.
1. From our FAQ on withholding taxes ( http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/96): If you are not a resident of a treaty country, we will deduct a 30% withholding tax on all payments of U.S. source royalties. Royalties resulting from licensing to customers outside the US will be considered non-US source income and not subject to US withholding tax. Money for the Dash For Cash promotion is paid out by Corbis, which is US based, and so will be taxed as such. 2. Dash For Cash earnings will be tallied after the contest is completed and will be displayed on your Dashboard page before September 15th. 3. That is correct, you are limited to submitting 100 images per week.

Dash for Cash - nice gimmick, but where's the substance? Why haven't these questions (below) been answered?
Thanks for the info Ryan. This confirms what I had heard. I also understand that previously approved contributors would have to go through the initial approval process again too.
Unfortunately, with the cumbersome upload process there and the difficulty of getting images approved, it is not much of an enticement to go through that whole process all over again.
Have you improved your review process? Veer's rejection rate was by far higher than any other website I have ever contributed to. How do you explain that? How do Veer's content needs differ from those of other micro agencies?
...and have you streamlined the uploading process?
These are the questions I would have too ^^, before seriously considering uploading to VM again.
Sorry Allsa, I try to respond to many questions on here if I can, but I do tend to miss some. The best way to quickly get an answer is to email directly at contributorhelp@veer.com. It's hard for me to comment not knowing your specific experience with us, but I will say that like most other microstock agencies, we value high quality, commercially relevant photography and illustration, and getting the best images on our site is always our first priority. We believe that our uploading and editing system is quite efficient and user friendly, and I would of course be available to walk you through any of the steps if you encounter any difficulties once you sign-up. Thanks

How long does the initial approval process take?
Generally, it should take about 5 days. We're doing our best to keep up during the surge in submissions we've had since the start of the promotion

Nice programming Tried to register there, but...
Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index
Hi UncleGene- sorry you got this error. If you email me directly at contributorhelp@veer.com I should be able to sort it out so you'll be able to register.

I'm bumping this to the top in hopes that Ryan from Veer will read and recognize that I am a past contributor and make good on his word that he will just "turn the switch on" so I can start mass uploading photos instead of waiting for my first 10 to be approved.
As mentioned in my response to your email, we have marked your newly registered account as 'approved'. it will not be possible to switch out your your newly registered account with your previously deactivated account. In response to your question further up on this thread- We will not be able to 'automatically' approve any images you submit, even if they are images that had previously been in your account before you had requested that we delete your account and portfolio.

I was wondering about the wording "Existing contributors"...
If someone creates an account and begins submitting images, are they eligible for the bonus for images submitted during the bonus period?
The promotion is available to existing as well as brand new contributors. In fact, we have many new contributors signing up specifically in order to take advantage of the new promotion. See our FAQ for more details: http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/141

it took me a while to navigate veer's site, everything is kind of disconnected. best to click on the 'your member page' tab and that will bring you to your portfolio as seen by the buyer.
Thanks, this is correct. If you are looking for a link to give out, your Member Page would be the simplest way to see what you have available on the site. In general, you'll want to bookmark the page http://contributor.veer.com/ for your main login to the site. If you always return to that page, you'll be able to quickly access your Workspace, Dashboard, and Member Page, via the links across the top right

i notice that eps file will be sold as eps only. Do you think we can upload jpg separated as another online image for sale? just like what shutterstock does..
I think the portfolio page in member page is required to have some kind of set up.. will check it.
You are able to upload JPEG versions of your vector files if you would like to sell them in that format as well. Later this year, we'll be working out a way for this to happen automatically (so you'll only have to upload the EPS version), but for now, it's fine if you want to upload both.

I wish you the best of luck Aaron.
I had my accepted images removed from VM several months back in preparation for exclusivity elsewhere (that I eventually chickened out of )
If I should decide to give it another go, can I have my accepted images reactivated, or do I have to start uploading from scratch?
Hi Lisa, Thanks for the question. Recently we have a had a few contributors who chose to have their accounts deactivated instead of deleted- in that situation we would to simply 'reactivate' the portfolio and they can get started uploading images once again. In your case it does appear that your previously submitted images had been permanently removed, after you requested that we do so. -a note to all- If you are a former contributor who had previously had a contributor account which you had removed or deactivated, please message me directly at contributorhelp@veer.com if you would like to begin submitting images once again. Even if it's not possible to reactivate any previously submitted images, I should be able to add the Contributor 'role' back to your account, saving you the trouble of having to re-register. Thanks

I was going to refer this promotion to a friend of mine who currently doesn't upload to Veer. Does Veer have a referral program? I couldn't find anything on the site.
Steve
Hi Steve, we don't currently have any sort of referral program in place, but this is something we will be considering in the future.

Hi all! Thanks so much for the enthusiasm with our Dash For Cash promotion! I've been out for a few days, so haven't had much time to dive into the threads as of yet. I'll be jumping in there later today, but I also wanted to give everyone a heads up that we posted a new Contributor Tutorial Video, by our resident expert, Shawn Haskell. http://ideas.veer.com/post/10098

Ryan,
Yes, vector EPS - exact same name as JPEG preview. I'm very careful about it. But there's something else... How to upload both files at the same time? Can we even do that?
I use your browser uploader, click the 'Upload' button, select my file and watch it transferring. But it only works for a single file at a time. Am I missing something here?
Thank you for trying to help me. It has been bothering me for a long time.
You aren't limited to only uploading single files when using the browser uploader. After clicking the 'upload via browser' button, you'll get a pop-up box allowing you to select files from your computer to upload. You should just be able to select as many as you like, hit 'enter', and it will take them all.

We’re really happy with the way the Veer Marketplace collection has been growing this past year. Many thanks for your support. In recognition of what you’ve helped us achieve so far, and as a means to help grow our collection even faster ahead of Veer’s big re-launch this summer, we are making a push for more contributors and more content. Wednesday, May 5th, we’re kicking off a promotion called “Veer Dash for Cash”. While we could just ask nicely, we think a financial incentive will help get things moving. We’ll be offering bonus payment just for getting content approved and up on the site. Hopefully you’ve got some new batches you still need to upload… You can earn up to $1.40 per approved image for files submitted between May 5th and June 30th. Even if the image is submitted between May 5th and June 30th but is published afterwards, you still get paid for that approved submission. So upload every week during Veer Dash for Cash and it could lead to a really nice payout. Check the Dash for Cash landing page for all of the details: Dash For CashThe FAQs here might answer some of your questions: FAQThe program begins Wednesday, May 5th and runs through June 30th. Get uploading!

Hi Ryan,
Great to see you here, I've got a few questions too.
1. How to upload vector - EPS files? I read the instructions on your site. Contributors are engouraged to upload a JPEG version to accompany the EPS file. The system is supposed to read the keywords from the JPEG file and apply them to the sister EPS file. But it never works. I end up having to manually add keywords, title, description to all my EPS files. Is there a way to solve this problem?
Not to mention that JPEG preview files get later rejected for being 'too similar' with the original EPS files. But of course, they're identical.
2. Is there a way to edit/delete a file once it is pending for review?
Thank you for taking the time, much appreciated,
Hmm, I'm wondering if you may be missing one small step when uploading the JPEG previews. The important thing is that they have the exact same file name as the EPS version (example:mycoolvector.eps, mycoolvector.jpg), and be uploaded into your account at the exact same time. If the file names are slightly different, or they are uploaded separately, the system will assume they are two unique images. You'll know when it works, because after uploading the EPS file and it's corresponding JPEG, you will only see One file in your account, which will then be submitted to our editors for review. It's not possible to edit or delete an image once it is in 'pending' mode. You can send an email to contributorhelp@veer.com in this situation and request that the image be rejected by our editors. It can sometimes to be tricky to 'catch' an image before an editor grabs it though, so please doublecheck before clicking 'submit', that the image is all set to go.

it's great that you're answering some questions here. i've always wondered where is the button to click to delete a photo or to edit some keywords after it's been accepted. [/quote] Editing/removing images is not currently an option we have for contributors. If you do need to remove an image, you can email the SKU number to contributorhelp@veer.com and I'll take care of it. The same goes for if you need to edit a published image- if the changes are crucial, it may bit quicker to just request the image be taken down so you can re-upload it with modifications.

lecisco- This is good feedback, we will be looking for ways to make the submission and editing process more efficient, so we'll take what you said into consideration.
One tip- many contributors find that it's easier keyword their images offline in a photo editing program, then submit the images with all the metadata embedded, which our system automatically reads and plugs in. If you do it this way, you'll greatly reduce the amount of time you'll need to spend editing within your Veer Marketplace account.
