The LAST PICTURE of my portfolio has 16 DLs and 118 views. QED. Of course now it will neither be seen nor downloaded. These f****** idiots at IS. Note to self: Do not upload highly specialized pictures that target a tiny market because if they fit too well they get KILLED. Morons.
... opprobrium ...

The bad news is that preorders don't get the discount.

I read it also that statement. And you don't have to worry about it. All professional video cameras are used with manual focusing. There is no professional or semi-professional camera with auto focusing (ok, there is a few exceptions). This camera is intended to be first professional DSMC camera so autofocusing is not needed in video production.
My concerns goes to exposure compensation because in movie mode you can't change ISO. I hope that compensation is good enough to cover all light situations.

What if the item we want to purchase (5DMkII hint hint) is not in stock in time for the deal?
Have found out the answer to this...
Your purchase is locked in at the time you go through the checkout so even if the item is back ordered you will still receive the discount.

Adorama does not charge an early adopter premium as far as I am aware
Adorama and every other retailer does not set the retail price. The manufacturer does. It is up to the retailer whether they choose to charge the full retail or not. However, the early advertising is paid for by CANON, and they will not pay for anything unless the advertising features the FULL recommended retail price.
They may also have some rules on retailers about offering DEALS for a period of time.
However (once again) Adorama could easily create a coupon system for a particular group of buyers, like this forum, that offers deals. While they may not be able to legally offer a reduction in price because of their agreement with Canon, they can offer "incentives" such as buy this thing and your next thing will only cost x.

I am telling you guys - the only way we get a deal is on some higher profit margin items because the 5DMkII is certainly not one of them.
Don't know where you got this information, but it is 180 degrees from accurate. New stuff, any new stuff is where the retailers make their margins. They catch the early adapters. If it wasn't for new stuff, or Christmas, most retailers would not be in business.

Wow! The helicopter shots look a little odd, but everything else looks fine to my eye.
