Same here, im getting the usual image sold emails but on the AS portal i just get a "-" symbol. Logging into the old fotolia and i can see im now at -$14.56.
I hadn't requested any sort of payout on the 12th and for all days i got my usual average numbers of sales and nothing out of the ordinary.
I shouldn't be negative if its just the 12th affected as i had a good positive balance and hadnt requested any form of payout since that date.

A lot of the stolen images appear to be 2013 - 2016. Chances are they images have sold thousands of times and the original author maybe unware its been stolen. SS doesn't make it easy to contact the contributor directly (for obvious business reasons) and if they use an alias as a username google isnt much help either so its hard to bring their attention to it. The one attached is one of my favourite thieves. Descriptions are written like a 6 year old. I particularly like "The cow is big, white and black". And just for annoyance, the first "similar images" it suggests is the original authors from several years ago he stole. Yet this stuff still gets through the new review. https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/this-cow-big-white-black-1239674482?src=TBkIqjuWdNhYQCM4gAehIw-1-26The whole port is comedy in terms of descriptions (and every single image is stolen).

They do accept some. I use the EasyRelease app (which is on their list) without problem.

Again you're ignoring reality.
In other areas of IT its the same, the overwhelming (yes, disproportionate) amounts of spam and hack attempts come from an IP address belonging to certain specific countries.
IP theft numbers are disproportionately high from specific areas.
Its due to no legislation in those countries, no legal deterrent from committing offences and rampant corruption.
Quite simply, in IT and other areas you can eliminate 90% of your risk by blocking 5% of areas.
You might be deluded enough to think rates of fraud and theft are no higher in any area in the world than others but quite simply thats incorrect.

By the way, if you want to find the upload date for an image - they don't display it on the page - use the browser's View Source option and search for "datePublished". Thats the best tip ive read for ages. I just ran it on a lot of the fraudulent accounts people on the SS forum have identified. Pretty much every single on of them started uploading the stolen images from October 2018 onwards (original images 2013 or earlier). It looks like towards Q4 2018 a brand new SS security bug appeared, the known bugs got exploited industrially or maybe more and more image backs became available on torrents/black market.

Look at it from a statistical risk management point of view. If a disproportionate amount of fraud come from a small minority of areas, that's not racist in any way. A lot of these countries have next to no IP or copyright laws and/or next to no enforcement.
Piracy, counterfeiting and everything else are big business there and are allowed to continue unabated. Either there are no useful laws to enforce or the authorities have no interest in enforcing them (or are even involved).
That's saying nothing about individuals or anything about race, its just cold, statistical fact. From a business point of view it quite simply might not be worth the risk to do business with or accept submissions from those areas for those reasons.

Thanks for that - at least its not anything im doing obviously wrong.
Ive got another issue which seems to crop up intermittently, presumably due to my workflow as well. If when selecting multiple files i clear keywords, paste the new ones then select Yes/No for release sometimes the new keywords get ignored and old ones remain. This is how ive submitted a fair few images with incorrect and auto keywords over the last few months. Its not consistent though and i cant replicate currently as im stuck on a boat for a few days.

Ive come across a fairly annoying bug (to me at least) that i can replicate.
Due to LR not exporting keywords in priority order it means i have to manually paste in my keywords on uploaded images again before submission. These images obviously have alphabetical keywords by default.
On a sumission page if i select all images on a page, then "erase all keywords" and click save it works - keywords are cleared for all media on that page. BUT it seems to only be valid for that session - if i close the browser tab, reload and go back into the page all those erased keywords have now come back (or worse, auto generated ones).
Is this intended behaviour or is there any work around?
Im having issues generally submitting multiple files at once (especially video) where ive just noticed some videos i have the first of a batch has the correct, pasted keywords, the others seem to have auto. A fish farm is keyworded "circuit, computer, board, electronics" etc when i clearly didnt add it as that.
Ive just spent a merry few hours deleting and dragging keywords to fix the obvious ones but fairly sure id have missed a lot.
So in short 3 questions:
(i) is the erased keywords returning on a reload meant to happen or is it a bug? Is there a workaround?
(ii) What is the correct procedure for selecting say 4 files, applying the same pasted keywords to all (and removing the ones originally there) and submitting that batch?
(iii) Is there a way to completely change all keywords on an already accepted file by pasting in again? I can only see the box to alter the order and delete specifics not completely re keyword? Or is the only option to delete and re-add (not a great option with my 512kbps upload speed)?

Because what happened on SS was a lot of people were finding that if someone wanted their clip, instead of buying the HD version they bought the lower res cheaper clip. The result was much less commission than they'd previously have had.

Shutterstocks FTP is the biggest security hole in the entire thing.
Same username and password as the main site and no encryption at all so details sent plain text for all to see.

From their email:- Were about to launch our new Web-resolution offering, designed for Pond5 customers who are searching for video to use in their social media projects.
Our tests have shown that making this format available increases overall revenue, while having no impact on sales of 4K and HD videos meaning it has the potential to bring your work to a new segment of buyers without affecting established income.
There is nothing you need to do to prepare for the launch, which will take place on December 6. All videos (with the exception of native SD content and Archival footage) will be automatically downconverted for Web-resolution availability.
We recently hosted a live virtual Town Hall and Q&A to talk about this initiative in more detail. If you were unable to attend or would like to rewatch, you can view the entire discussion here.
Still have questions? Please visit our Web Resolution FAQ or reach out to Customer Service and well be happy to help! Hopefully it'll be possible to set this price to 100% of HD pricing to stop the utter madness and drop in normal sales lots of us experienced on SS when it started.

You may be the "victim" of a seeming SS bug that started recently. Ultimately some peoples portfolios are currently absolutely dominating the first page for single term search results for a large variety of key words. This started round about that time. See here on the SS forum for others mentioning it:- https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/95821-crossroads/That said, maybe you just got lucky and if so, well done. Ive got the reverse this month, zero video sales. I average 30 or so a month and this is the first zero month for 4 years. Something very odd happened on the first of the month - i went from 5-10 sales a week on average consistently to none at all this whole month. Im down several hundred in earnings on average as a result.

This is exactly what Shutterstock did. Most of us now are seeing a lot of $1.50 video sales replacing the usual $20+ sales and as a result less income.
It would appear in the real world that if someone wants a video, they'll often go for the lower resolution than paying for the higher if given the option so the contributor now makes a lot less.
You have to sell a LOT more smaller res videos to replace the higher resolution one that now didnt get bought.
Hopefully unlike SS there'll be an option to opt out of this OR set the price.

Its worth remembering on SS if you use FTP you should probably treat your credentials as compromised. SS doesnt provide different user and passwords for FTP nor does it provide TLS or any encryption so your full contributor login details are sent as plain text for anything sniffing on that PC. the same network or upstream to steal. If you use SS FTP from public WiFis id be even more concerned.

Fairly sure the answer is "no" but....
I activated my LR/PS free code about 3 weeks ago before realising i'd also qualified for the full CC package.
Is there any way to transfer this 3 week old code to another adobe CC account (a relatives)?

Mine is done in LR for all images.
But im forced to repaste from an excel spreadsheet the non alphabetical keywording into adobe after uploading.
Why several years down the line since AS bought out Fotolia LR still doesn't have an option to export keywords in non alphabetic order i don't know. It would massively streamline peoples workflows.

My code arrived 2 days ago. Unfortunately id already activated the lr/ps one last week so im going to lose that.

Not really. SS has had a bug for 1.5 years or more now allowing anyone to steal photos via the facebook API amongst other things. There are even youtube videos on how to do it. Also, a very quick torrent search reveals: SS make surprisingly little effort to protect their IP (when their whole business is IP).

Looks like an average "day of week" thing with lowest on Saturday (the global weekend), not a lot sunday and back to work Monday peak. Thats my DL per day of week for 2018.

I'd argue "multiple sales a day" is probably such a small number on SS as to be statistically insignificant. Unless its 10s of sales a day or more i dont think you can extract any data from the noise.

Hmm. Im sure i had over 300 approved this year before Aug 3rd (definitely do now) and acceptance rate is 95%+ or more.
Is then any easy way to count number of accepted videos this year other than going through the "date uploaded" manually and counting up to that point?
I got the LR/PS code email but i havent had another one so i doubt its in spam.

FTP is an ancient protocol that offers no encryption. It means username and password are sent unencrypted. What that does mean is anyone that controls the router or any sniffing upstream of your computer can see it. If you're connected to an insecure or badly configured wifi or public wifi someone else on that network can see it. Any sort of packet logging trojan on your computer can see it. And if they can see it, they can steal it.
Which means you could lose your login credentials to a 3rd party who could then abuse it.
There are methods to make this dated protocol more secure. One of which is FTP-TLS. Shutterstock does not support this.
Another, cheaper option for the provider is to use a different user/password for FTP than the main site so if credentials are stolen you cant actually do anything with them. Most stock providers i use do exactly that with the exception of SS.
So just in theory, assume you connect to shutterstock through an insecure public WiFi. Someone else on that network is busy sniffing all users data and your SS details get noted. He then logs into SS as you and redirects your payment address to his own and steals your money.
For an added bonus, if you reuse passwords elsewhere he can possibly log in as you on other sites too.

Customer side is dead too. Search works but nobody can go into an image or download anything. People already complaining on their official FB.
Wonder what the excuse will be this time?
