Adobe Stock / ftp uploading issue on fotolia
« on: October 30, 2010, 03:15 »
hi all, i am uploading files to fotolia using filezilla, i have this problem that i uploads files to fotolia and the files turns out to be many many files some are half images, half grey color, it seems like the files get interrupted during uploading and resume it. for example i upload 10 files, it comes out like 20 or 30 but most are half done ( half grey over the images).

For my filezilla size i didn't get any pop-up asking me do i want to replace the file or resume it, and none of the files is showed as failed upload too.

Did anyone see the same problem? is there a solutions?

recently there is one agency offers to pay by bank transfer, to bank with IBAN or SWIFT code. Do we have to pay for this option? and how come this option is not widely available?

but since it is sold as RF before, there is no way to buy it exclusively right? even they make an agreement with the seller not selling that image anymore but the previous buyer of that RF image is still having the rights to use that image, right?

but i agree it will stop more usage of that image comes out, so it is kind of salvage for the worst scenario?

i assume a designer working with apple knows what is RF and RM..why make a mistake like this again?

I guess when it was revealed they approached owner to buy it exclusively :-)

oic, i am sorry since i misunderstand the sentences at first.

so i think Moneybookers is not supporting different currencies as balances. I guess the conversion takes place as soon as it is into the MB account. So one should set the currency correctly, for example US dollars if the incoming payment is in US dollars.

mtkang, like I said:  "Unlike PP, you can not have balances in several currencies (...) ".  Any currency is converted to the currency of your MB account (UK pounds, in my case).

hi madelaide, my paypal do support several currencies, i got balance in US$ and Euro$, and how about MB?u mentioned it is converted to UK pounds, do u mean it automatically converts USD to UK pounds?

I opened my MB account years ago when it wasn't possinle to retrieve money from PP to my bank account here in Brazil My MB account is in UK, where I also have a bank account.

When I receive a payment in MB, it is converted ti UK pounds. Unlike PP, you can not have balances in several currencies and convert them only when withdrawing.

MB serves my needs well.

hi williv, thanks for your reply.

So do we need to set our curreny in MB as US dollars or we can set it as our local currency? how about EURO? in paypal the EURO and US will remain as the currency till I transfer to my local bank currency.

For example agency A send me US$100, and agency B send me EURO $100 to my MB, and my moneybookers currency is in local curreny let's say a malaysia bank Riggits.

So the US100 and EURO$100 will stay as it is in my MB accounts?

I notice in paypal case, the US$100 and EUR$100 do stall as it is till i withdrawn it to local bank.

sorry for many question because i just want to get it right, since MB told me that currency in my MB accounts can't be changed after transaction.

Any agencies that sent your payout in USD, it will stay as it is until you withdraw it to your local bank.
In your case, you might need to wait for favorable exchange rate offered by your local bank before withdrawing.

i read something in moneybooker, it seems a change of currency is not possible?

For examples if shutterstock send me US$100, will moneybookers convert it once it is received? or it will stay as US$100 only till i withdrawn it to my bank?

paypal does let the currency stays as it is, it is useful that u can pay something online or wait for a better conversion rate.

Can I change the currency of my Moneybookers account?
Once your account has been opened, a change of currency is not possible unless your transaction history is empty. If this applies to you, you should go to the Messaging Centre: My Profile > I want to change the currency of my Moneybookers account.

regarding selling editorial stock, do u think it should have some details like date, where, who, what is in the picture? something like what shutterstock asks for.

I upload to alamy, but it seems there is no guideline of what to do with editorial captions, and it seems no where to search editorial image only.

bring up this question again, so there is no way to read IPTC for an eps vector?

anyway to upload eps vector to get IPTC read from preview jpg? filling every IPTC data for eps vector is taking too much time.

so the currency will stay as it is in the moneybookers account until we convert it to local bank?

USD or Euro is converted by your local bank. Marginally better than PayPal :)

i browse around the moneybookers, but i wonder will it automatically converted the US dollars or EURO to my local currency? or it can stay as the paid currency just like in paypal?

https://www.moneybookers.com/app/?rid=19085104

it seems quite option other than paypal, and it looks like the fee of drawing to local back is free for some countries. Register an account is quick. Take note of choosing your registered country, the first bank you add should be from the countries of you had registered, and then you can add more bank from other countries. so make sure you have a bank account of country u had registered as moneybookers.

anyone had more experience to share with moneybookers? i had opened an account since as long as all major microstock agencies paid by it, there is no reason not to use it.

Software - General / Re: scanning resolution on flatbed scanner
« on: October 24, 2010, 07:46 »
ok thanks everyone for explanations..

I read something like 'resample' is like changing the pixels..

I by resample is 'ticked', when i change the resolution of document from 1200 to 300 pixels/inch the pixel dimension shrinks.

I tried to unclick the 'resample' and pixels/inch is not affecting the pixel dimension.

For my understanding the pixels/inch and document document size is just a figure that should not change the pixel information, and the end user can always change it.

I just tried to change the pixel dimension as what massman had suggested 7000x4950 to keep it under 100mb and unclicked resample and change the resolution information.

Software - General / Re: scanning resolution on flatbed scanner
« on: October 23, 2010, 00:37 »
i am not printing it at this moment, my purpose is to prepare a file to sell as a stock like in alamy.

i scanned as 1200 dpi, and this is the file i got
132mb TIFF, 14000x9900 pixels

i want to convert to jpg, i click photo 'image size' and there are pixels dimension and document size, i saw the document size is showed as 1200 pixels/inch

i am not sure what the setting i should get my jpg, do i have to change it to 300 pixels/ inch in the 'document size' setting? and i notice if i change to 300 pixels/inch the pixels dimension change to smaller sizes.

should i just ignore the pixels/inch and only adjust the pixels size to get a jpg size i need?

Okay, you have scanned a file at 14000 x 9900 pixels, this is what is important. For now, forget about file format, size and DPI. You have a bitmap image that is 14000 x 9900 pixels, you have created an image that is 138 mega-pixels, a huge file. What size file do you want to create?

hi massman, i want a jpg format that's less than uncompressed size 100mb.

i also want to understand what is the way i should do in order not to change the image quality. Just like blufish said it, change to 300dpi? the pixels size will change in this case, any quality change of image?

i am scanning a pen sketch on a sketchbook paper, the reason i scanned at 1200dpi, because when i use the software, i saw the highest choice of 'resolution' is 1200 dpi. I am just thinking to scan at highest resolution so that i can scan it one time and resize for multiple purpose.

mtkang,

What are you scanning at 1200 dpi?  A printed image?  I remember HP saying it's useless to scan at above 600dpi because this is the maximum printing resolution for photo prints.  Going beyond that is like using digital zoom.  And even 600 dpi may be a higher resolution than the original print had.

Most sites don't require a specific dpi, but there is one (hmm, which one?) that requires 300dpi. But as Rimglow explained, you have to uncheck the "Resample Image" box, so you change dpi without changing image size in pixels.
