I thought it was ok since StockXpert is doing that on their own site, we just have the knowledge now how their search engine works. If you Steve-oh have any objection tell us. I do not want to do something which is unethical . 805

Thanx guys!
I promoted one of my rubber ducky images on StockXpert in that "Home" section. What happend, it got a lot of views. After a day or so it went up in popularity. It went on the second place when I search for "bird" without any dls. In the meanwhile it got a download and is still on the 6th place when you search for bird. Right now it seems the search engine has not picked up our images as popular, maybe the do this every day once or every two days. 806

StockXpert.com / Promoting images« on: May 18, 2007, 14:26 »
As we all know Stockxpert changed the search engine. What I found out, is that the popularity of the images is measured by how many views you get on your image. My idea is, well lets use that in the following way: we post thumbnails including a link of the image here. By clicking on it, we will have a look at the image at StockXpert and can rate it or comment it, if we want. That will make our images more popular if they deserve it. If you think, the image is not interesting or worth more publicity, just do not click on it. It definetely will help your image.
Maybe we should limit that for one image, because 1: it should be a good one 2: I do not know how many will take part in it. Any objection? Its like the section at StockXpert where you can promote your image :-) Well here is my image: ![]() http://www.stockxpert.com/browse.phtml?f=view&id=1169151 808

Lately I thought a lot about creating my own homepage. Since I have no clue how to do the programming I ask my brother to do it. However he has no time so I did some research. Somewhere I found a link directing me to www.googlepages.com. I was amazed. I did not know to do a homepage is so easy. I can recommend googlepages to everyone who has not his own photography website and does not know a lot about programming. Here it is, if you have any comments and suggestions feel free..
It is not finished, but I am working on it.. http://freezingpictures.googlepages.com/home By the way googlepages is free. 812

Yes, you are not able to see the keywords for 90 days, to prevent that you copy them and use them for other sites. It will cost you 20 cents. But only if the image got accepted. Here are some samples:
http://www.dreamstime.com/globalwarminginantarctica-image1732325 http://www.dreamstime.com/displayofcoloredpencils-image1755746 http://www.dreamstime.com/penguininantarctica-image1794040 http://www.dreamstime.com/coloredpencilarrangement-image1799378 http://www.dreamstime.com/tworedtrainswithspacefortext-image1845702 http://www.dreamstime.com/off-roadtracks-image1874236 An interesting example for you, because your are an expert on this subject ![]() http://www.dreamstime.com/passengerairplanetakingoff-image1811176 A month ago I had almost to wait half a week until my images got keyworded after being accepted, the last days it often was on the same day or a day later. Probably they got some more people to work as keymasters. Well maybe the best way for you to see how accurate they are is by checking my images. I think they are doing a good job. They almost allways have a long description and keywords I would not have come up with as a German. Regarding sales, thats hard to tell, if I get more because of the good keywording. 813
Dreamstime.com / Re: New DT Search Engine Sucks!« on: May 17, 2007, 03:03 »
Yes title and description are an important part. Your picture will show up in the search result, when the word is in the title or in the description, it does not even have to be in the keywords. Some time ago (I havent checked it how it is now), picture showed up first which had the same keywords in title, description and keywords, or at least it helped. But now I do not bother anymore, the keymasters are doing such a wonderful job, a much better job then I am doing. Regarding the dls: it will be close to my best month on DT, we will see. I think the new search engine is a good thing.

He isn't misusing our image is he? So I really do not see a problem about this. I still get the same amount of earnings per image and there might be more earnings, because he advertises fotolias images. I think he had a good idea and like it. If he earns money through the link to my image why should I care?
By the way regarding promoting, I have a new website, check it out ![]() 816
Software - General / Re: 30D comments please« on: May 12, 2007, 16:51 »
Well I am not a 30D owner too.
I wanted to upgrade to the 5D instead of the 30D. Now I am not so sure about that. The price difference is still a lot and my lenses are not the best. So then I considered the 30D. I read a few reviews, here are some helful infos of photographers who bought that camera: http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=299&sort=7&cat=15&page=1 Thanks to Geopappas, a very helpful site. What we should remember as far as rumors are going arround, there might be a new camera coming out in August. Someone say Canon brought out a new model every 18 month. And this summer it is time for a new model in the 30D class. It might be available in September. That might also be the reason for the cashback program. Here in Germany it stops at the beginning of the summer. They might want to get rid of the old models, before they introduce the new models. If that is true prices will drop for the 30D. And if there will be a 40D, it probably has some new nice features. 10Mp at least is my guess, because of the 400D. Maybe I will wait until they bring it out. Right now the price for the 30D is allready a good deal I would say. I once had the 350D in my hand and looked a little bit at it. I can tell you if you have a 30D in your hand you won't look back at the 350D or the 400D. Just the feeling is so different and I missed the adjustment wheel on the back of the camera which is so useful, if you have it. Thats why I would not trade my D60 for a 400D, even if you have a lot more MPs. My guess is you will like the 30D ![]() 817

Congrats fintastique, yeah I had to think a little before I got it what you are talking about. A client ask him for the exclusive dl of his image at FT so in turn he deleted it from the other angencies. After he did that that guy did not dl it. Aparently finally after some days he did dl it.
Thats my understanding. However, congrats to this! ![]() 820
StockXpert.com / Re: For Steve-Oh« on: May 08, 2007, 11:10 »
I agree with ichiro,
I just do not understand which images are the right ones for StockXpert. Well penguins they take without hesitation, but other images which I believe are not so different quality wise are very often rejected because of quality. Sometimes you guys say it is out of focus. When I immediately resubmit them downsized, they are rejected, because you say they are overcompressed. StockXpert is the only site, where I experience rejection because of overcompressed files. Aren't you selling overcompressed files, when a buyer buys a small size image? Recently I got an image rejected, because you were not looking for such images. However on another site it was the image of the week. The last image which was accepted by istock, and they know which image is good, was apparently not in focus. And so it goes on. I do not want to complain although sometimes I am annoyed for a short time, when I put a lot of effort in one picture, but I really do not care so much about StockXpert regarding the new images. I have my two popular images and the new ones barely get dls. But maybe you should reform your review system, not to chase away less patient photographers. Just from a photographers view.. regards Jan 821
