If they're subscribed to Storyblocks or are thinking about it, I think its pretty unlikely that me adding or removing my content from them is going to have a massive influence on that. The way I see it, although I may be wrong, is that your Pond5s and your Adobe's are for films, TV shows and advertising agencies who don't mind paying $79 a clip as the client is paying for it. Your Storyblocks and the like are more for Youtubers who want 100 clips for a video but can't afford afford $7900 for a video that's unlikely to generate that much from views.
While some who were paying $79 might now be taking advantage of the unlimited subscriptions which impacts our revenue, I feel there's just as big a market thats growing at a crazy rate who need affordable content.
From what I can see, sales at these subscription sites are in addition to sales at the regular sites... not at the cost of sales at the regular sites. It will affect it somewhat, but the growing market of content creators that have never shopped at the regular sites more than makes up for it.
If that makes sense? Cobbling this together on my phone while taking a smoke break from failing miserably at putting together an electric standing desk... so I apologise if its just a rambling wall of text.
I just read this previous thread. https://www.microstockgroup.com/videoblocks/anybody-still-contributing-to-the-membership-video-library/I think you have about 400 unique content on StoryBlocks. $1/clip/month is incredible sales figure. But I see some contributors with over 5,000 or even 10,000 clips there. I don't think they are making $1/clip/month on StoryBlocks. Also, I didn't know you can upload as many as you want there. I thought they would handpick which clips they want to sell there. But if it's working well for you, congrats.

I make an average of about $1 per clip, per month.
That's pretty good. But imagine if somebody pays $30/month and just download all your clips on StoryBlocks instead of buying them one by one on Pond5 or Adobe Stock. That's why i never participate in unlimited download or cheap video subscription/membership business model. If that's working well for you, that's good. But I just don't do it. I want to protect my products' price at certain level to protect my brand.

They give out your clips for unlimited download. You'll be helping destroying your own livelihood as a creator imo. Some con artist may download and sell them as their own clips on other sites. So, I would never upload to unlimited download sites. Also I would never sell my clips outright.
Thanks, I thought that when I read their terms on the site but wasn't sure. Definitely a no go then from me either.
Only Pond5 and Adobe Stock are worth uploading videos to right now.

I reactivated my account in autumn but dont upload new stuff. But I now only have 0.10 sales and I am thinking about completely shutting down my account now.
Its not the new level structure but those 10 cent sales which make me really angry. Probably time for real action and a complete shutdown of my acount.
My concern was those sub $5 video sub sales were negatively affecting my overall video sales from other sites like Adobe Stock and Pond5. I could've made $25-120 on those $3 video sub sales instead. Yesterday, right after I unlicensed my portfolio on Shutterstock, I had the best sales day of this year on Adobe Stock. It may not be a coincidence. Plus, it just feel good not seeing those disrespectful and insulting cheap royalty sales reports on Shutterstock everyday. I moved all my editorial clips to Pond5 exclusive account to get 60% royalty.
Why do you feel it necessary to repeat yourself over and over.
Seriously we get it.
And your Adobe uptick will just be a coincidence.
I, for one, will never get sick of hearing that a massive pile of good videos bailed on Shutterstock. Thank you blvdone. Repeat, bump, reiterate, and please keep encouraging others to get on the right track and ditch those scumbags. Shutterstock loses = we all win. Death by a thousand cuts.
Thank you Daryl!!!

Last year, when I deactivated my Shutterstock portfolio, a guy from BBC contacted me via Pond5 saying he couldn't buy my clips on Shutterstock and bought on Pond5 instead of Shutterstock. So, it may not be a coincidence. I would've made more money in January and February if I didn't sell on Shutterstock and moved all my editorials to Pond5 exclusive. Extra 50% royalty on Pond5 exclusive (60% vs 40%) would've surpassed video sales from Shutterstock. So, that's was my reason as well.

Just unlicensed my video and photo portfolio on Shutterstock (again). Moved all my editorials to Pond5 exclusive account to get 60% royalty, not $3 on 4k video sale on Shutterstock video sub. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but already having the best sales day of February on Adobe Stock today. It's likely to become the best sales day of the year on Adobe Stock at this pace. Feeling good. You can always turn your portfolio back on after a month on Shutterstock to see what happens and if it's worth it.
on again off again... why? if you are that unsure of yourself then keep the images and videos on Shutterstock so you can feel the burn each and every time you make a sale that does not even cover the costs to power your computer to see if you made a sale or close your account and be thankful you don't support an operation like Shutterstock.
I'm free to do whatever I want to do. And just in case Shutterstock change their way back to it was before, it's unwise to delete contents and close account. I have 15,000 video clips and 6,000 photos. It's stupid to upload and tag all over again just in case Shutterstock changes back to how they were.

Having the best sales day of February on Adobe Stock right off the bat after unlicensing Shutterstock. Is it a coincidence? Could become the best day of the year probably. Feeling good.

Good on you, the place is turning into a sheet hole.
Now I have a peace of mind somebody won't sell my clips and photos for pennies potentially taking away my profit from sales on other agencies.

After 30 days or so, it automatically resets to ACTIVE.
Nope. I unlicensed from July to December last year.
you are wrong "blvdone", this regulation is "new",was introduced when many had deactivated until December
The last I read was that shitterstock didn't allow deactivated portfolios to be reactivated within 30 days.
So I think you got that wrong
I agree.

I'm just tired of seeing those sub $5 video sales royalties I would get $30 or more on Pond5 and Adobe Stock. It's insulting and infuriating. And those cheap video sub may be either HD or 4K, the same price!! Give me a f'kin break. Although Shutterstock has occasional high price license sales, about half of video sales for the last 2 months are those cheap video sub sales. I did OK without Shutterstock last year from mid July to mid December when I unlicensed my portfolio. I'm not there to make the Shutterstock management with stock options rich. I'm not their slave. So f'k that. This year's slowdown of Shutterstock sales is very worrying and discouraging while Pond5 and Adobe Stock have been doing well for me. For those video sub sales, I could've made $68 each on Pond5 instead of $3 on Shutterstock if the buyer downloaded 4k file. 4K and HD being the same price on video sub, why not download 4k, right? It's disgusting. Financial loss is too big for us contributors.

You might want to do a bit of research if you think the poor, downtrodden, impoverished stock creators should be included under the umbrella of social justice. Spoiler alert... we're not on Amnesty International's radar either.
True, but Shutterstock is basically saying "Power to the people!!" while taking away the power from thousands of struggling artists to pump up their stock price. What a fake corporate monsters they are.

The poor and other causes were forgotten. Now it's the idiology of gender, races and that sort of thing. Excuse me but I am 48 years old and I do not adapt to these times, maybe I will be very old. It is something that is fashionable and many companies are doing it. It is to keep up with the times, very cool and fashionable! Todo lo progre esta de moda.
Yes, it's all fake coming from Shutterstock who slashed our income for thousands of struggling artists who contribute. Those corporate social justice pretenders are joke.

Update. Among 7 youtube videos I filed claim for copyright infringement, 6 were removed. Probably the one that remains was legitimately purchased by the poster. But I don't think he has the right to post it on YouTube on its entirety. It has 100k views in less than 2 years and many on comment section claimed they downloaded to use for their projects.
I think the only way he could do this with clips is buying the exclusive rights of the for ever. Pretty sure he doesn't do that.. I think only Dreamstime sells such license if you allow it specifically
True. And of course I didn't outright sell the clip to anybody.

like this one today, but it's hypocritical that they reduced our earnings for thousands of struggling artists in the midst of pandemic just to make the stock price go up so that their stock options would worth $millions more. They're doing exact opposite of social justice or whatever they're trying to pretend to be the advocate of. It's kinda disgusting makes me want to puke. https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/safety-self-awareness-black-queer-photographer
