I just registered here: http://www.imagoborealis.com/No issues. Email didn't go to spam either. I don't like the way the return link to login with your new password also still has the register boxes on the form - that is confusing for a new member steve

Maybe we should move registration discussions here.
I just registered on Cathy's site - no problems for me. Email was in Gmail spam though. I also suggested we each register on a random site to test this out.
Why don't we remove all links from the registration email - that is probably a big source of the problem. You are left with the page open on your symbio site to plug the password into, so it isn't as though you don't know where to go?

Password emails are not being sent. Cathy I just registered on your site and got an immediate email - it went into spam on Gmail, but it was there. By the way, the landing page when you click the login link on the email isn't well formatted. I've asked Amanda about that. Here it is: http://cathyslifestockphotos.com/please-log-in/It would be good if we all just randomly registered on each others sites to test this out. I've struggled with Captcha's and have now removed it altogether steve

I was chatting today to a real buyer who said they had tried several times to create an account on my site and the Sabre anti-spam registration through them out every time! I checked myself and it did! So I've been operating a pretty useless stock agency for quite a while...
Just a reminder to all of us to check the functionality as a new user from time to time. This guy told me that he had meant to tell me that there was an issue, but never got round to it.

I've stayed with my compound keywords in most cases. I don't want New York pictures to show up as "york" and "St Thomas" to show up as saint. Either we will get a better site search in the future (SYmbiostock.info does a much better search of these compound keywords and that is a likely way into our sites) or Google will be the main way in for most people.

I can confirm that when I saw this issue, I was logged in as the admin, and the image that was showing as the second one was still in my drafts folder. So it looks like we are all agreeing.

It is a well known issue. The way I have approached it is to leave my compound keywords as they are - New York. I think that almost all of my purchases will be from someone searching Google and finding the specific page and image they are looking for. Google searches all these things very well. Hence, you image will be found for "New York". The chance of a buyer starting at my home page to search for an image is very low, in my view.

That is the one that I saw, and outlined a possible cause a couple of posts back. This illustrates it nicely. Can you check what the image slugs are?

Can anybody tell me how the Symbiostock Similar Images widget works?
I've placed it on the bottom of image pages but no similar images are shown (only the headline Similar Images). I'd forgotten this, but when this feature first came out, you had to run a process each time you added a bunch of images to the site (run the "related images" process?). That went away and found all the images with closely matching keywords. Has that function now been added in automatically - I couldn't see it in the Symbio options section of Admin? Steve

It was installed by default on the single image pages I thought. Although it is a while since I worked on that

This normally shows up on the single image page to display similar images to the one that has been selected. It works by a complex analysis and comparison of keywords - hence it needs one to start with

I came across an interesting bug that I noticed because one of my image pages showed two different images - one under the other.
I think this is how it occurs:
I have a number of images that have exactly the same title. Symbio changes the slug after the first one to add "-2" etc. If I upload just a few of those images, and then later upload the rest, then everything is fine - the slugs are still incrementally modified so you don't have a clash.
However - and this is now a bit of conjecture - if I change the title of the image in Symbio, but leave the slug as it is, and then upload similar titled images later, it reuses the original slug name. Then you get two slugs with the same name and the double image page.
Make sense - is that how it works?

Don
Just a quick comment - when I first looked and saw the large X watermark, my first thought was that you meant to delete that image. Maybe it is just me, but that particular watermark is a bit offputting.

A thought - do you think it is a good idea to point out the location of these massive files of downloads? I hope that we don't have designers on the forum that immediately go and download them, but the forum is publicly searchable and all we are doing is potentially pushing more traffic their way.
Maybe an email to Shutterstock support is the best way to deal with this?

The way I am currently using it (on the new images I'm uploading) is that I put N/A if there are no people in the shot, but I put "No" against property release because that is such a changing environment. Strictly speaking every product has been designed and could theoretically claim some sort of copyright - similarly, rules can change about photos of landscapes or buildings. So I play safe and say "No property release" as my option.
The problem with turning it on later is how to do a default setting and not mess with the ones that have already been set manually!

I see in both the image edit page, and the Author options that we have a box for Model release and property release. I can also see how you can set these and apply to all images in the Author options section.
Couple of questions - where do these fields appear on the live site - can the buyer see them on one of the pages?
Second - even though I have set my author options to "no" the default on each image edit screen is that both of them are set to "yes". Is there a way to set the default to "no" and only change them to "yes" if I specifically need to?
Third question (sorry) - did anything get applied to all the images that are online before this change appeared in the theme - I don't want to have to go back to my editorial images and have to edit them again if I can avoid it.
