Thanks :)  I think it will be worth it regardless, but over the course of a year, it will end up paying for itself and some.  Just need the time to process those 10000 pictures  :-\

Have you ever had any problems with the Digimate?  How secure and safe is the data once put on the drive?

Thanks,
Joseph

Have not heard of any problems with the Digimate. But I only know two people having one, me and my uncle. So we might have been lucky.
I use my digimate also as an external harddisc, when I use different computers and to store my pictures there, before I upload them to the agencies and I carry it arround everywhere in my backpack. It seems to be quite solide. I have used it like almost every second day in the last months almost every day. It never complaint.

1. Get a Digimate, thats what I have 40GB storage, very light and is working on a battery. Mine is called Smart portable storage Digimate 2,  it is an me2 device. You also can get them with more storage. Mine was a 100 Euro half a year ago.
Here the technical data and a picture.. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.hmx?SCriteria=AA35360

2. Thinking of getting th 5D too. But need some more justification from my income of photos right now. I feel the 30D is not of so much advantage over my D60. Cannot help you there.

Don't know how much you can get out of it and if the return will justify the trip. But if you have a good time with your dad, that probably justifies it :)

I wish you a nice trip! :)

Oh that's good.  Thanks for letting me know.  That's already my biggest seller on SS.

BTW Freezing - I saw some penguins on a box of kleenex tissues in a store here in Brisbane today.  Looked remarkably like your work.  Couldn't find the image in your SS portfolio though.  It's a couple of big king penguins with lots of little grey fluffy baby penquins in the background.

Thanx for the info!
But thats not my penguins, I do not have fluffy baby penguins...

I think a year is good, if it only affects images wich have no dls. That would clear up the search engine a lot more. 10000 images is not really a lot.

831
Thats great! Congrats Leaf! :)

The thing with StockXpert is the new search system. Thats why some of us get suddenly a lot of sales. What you need are images who were doing quite well before they changed the search system. I have two of such images. This two images currently generate about 50% of my income at StockXpert. Now each one of them has dls almost every day.
The new ones are not bad images too. One of it is currently the top selling image from my portfolio at SS. But they get no dls and almost no views.
However I am still doing better than before at StockXpert and StockXpert gets me more income than FT.

Adobe Stock / Re: Can this really be true..?
« on: April 25, 2007, 16:57 »
I have got ten dls today, but that is not normal. There are days where I have no dls. It gives me the impression, that there are days when the search engine favors me and days when my images are burried under their mass of images..  I cannot validate that but thats how it seems.

834
Oh nooo, there are themes, I have not seen that..
A penguin does not fit anywhere..

835
Great! Thanx for the link! I need a new camera  ;) I just submitted my new Penguin image ;D

836
My guess is Leaf, at least I interpret his " ;)" in this way, after eco told us his number of dls..

More stats at SS definately would be nice. If they would have it as DT has it that would be great, and probably a lot of photographers would start to join SS, when they see how many dls the images have. :)

838
I have 12..

I agree, to decide to put one or two images on a special section is a really good idea, however, 25 or 50% of the portfolio in that section for the big contributers who have more than 100 and 500 Dls is quite a lot of images.
That special section won't be so special anymore.. Someone who has 4000 images probably has more than 500dls till July 19ths. He can place 2000 images in that section while I with my tiny portfolio probably won't reach  hundred dls this year.

But the thought of the special section is really good.

And you are the Jet specialist    :) Looking at your portfolio gave me a new idea. I have not yet created a penguin in the sunset image :)
I think some time I will do one.

I guess that is not the only one who has upsized images. Iophoto is in focus right now, especially here because of this thread. Reviewer cannot see everything all the time and if the quality is ok then who cares?
Apparently this image is of good quality and I have no doubt about that.

I do not believe it is a loss for us, there are so many images online at SS. If you have good images, you will have dls. By the way I just saw iophoto has one image in the Top50 of the week.
I think its good that he is there, that gives microstock more reputation. A lot of pros just haven't discovered it and that is our chance to become ourself a pro  ;)
Just think of a fan or customer of iophoto who happens to hear that he is on SS. They might get the subscription and dl our photos too.

Maybe I am getting a little bit offtopic, but I allways wondered, are mobilephone designs not copyrighted? I am considering to upload two images to IS. On there I see a lot of Mobile Phones and you can even search for them by brand names, e.g. nokia.

Thanks! The Camera was pointing upward. I was standing beneath the Eiffel Tower. So all what you see in that image is up.

Thanks! Lol, no it isn't a penguin :) There isn't so much to tell about. I just went to Paris during the weekend of easter and we wanted to get on the Eiffel tower. But as it is probably allways lots of people wanted to get on their, and we didn't know if we should still get up their. While standing arround and wondering what to do, we saw this stretcher hanging from the Eiffeltower. So I took the Photos. But I think it was just a training.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Spring Cleaning
« on: April 15, 2007, 13:12 »
Yeah, sometimes you cannot really tell whats wise and what not. It might also depend on the site. On SS, it might be time for me to do a spring cleaning, there the buyers are maybe more likely to skim through your potfolio after they noticed one good image of yours.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Spring Cleaning
« on: April 15, 2007, 12:49 »
I did it one time on DT, giving away crappy images to the free section.
If everyone removes old and non selling images, great advantage, thats why I so welcomed it when DT announced it would remove the old files which do not sell. It seems DT never really did it. That where I am disappointed. If only a few photographers doing it like you, than you have a disadvantage, I believe. Less photos online, less possibilities for them to be found and sold in future. For reputations sake you have an advantage of course. But I guess the buyers are searching for specific images not specific photographers.
