« on: October 16, 2016, 05:05 »

Even if we open hundreds of threads like this/day, SS won't give a da*n, so a is out of question.

That's the sad fact, isn't it?

It's true that many will take advantage of an unclosed loophole, even if it's against the rules.

What I'm finding hard in all this is that Shutterstock's lack of action smacks of condoning this behaviour. It even has me wondering whether the 'spam email' was sent to almost everyone on purpose - either as a vain attempt to get us to self-police or even as a message to educate?

A long as they are making money, why not?

Ethical companies have higher running costs, right? Perhaps the 'ethical business practices' folder got shuffled to the bottom in the last search change.

Though I will always count such description and keywords as a spam but there could be many reason for it gaining exposure.

1- Shutterstock once announced that description words will also be counted keywords on search and people flooded the announcement with spam
2- Google loves it, I remember my seo friend once told that the algorithm of google ignores or do not count the keywords present in any image, instead google look for the description or the title of image
3- As said by another person here, shutterstock not taking any action is because its working good for them
4- They do not care

Doesn't prove that these sell better but when will SS cut the heads off these dirty sewer rats? It makes the whole site look dumb and offendes buyers.

« on: October 12, 2016, 03:00 »
I dont get the point for saying goodbye here,
After the fotolia acquisition by adobe, it seems shutterstock has also started many marketing campaigns.

I see shutterstock advertisements everywhere now. Right now sales in shutterstock is not super bad, I hope there marketing strategies will slowly bring them on track.

I even see adverts for Shutterstock on Shutterstock! Just showed up as a banner a month or so ago... not sure if that's happened to anyone else? Could be some kind of malware I guess.

Shutterstock advertisements are true, but seeing shutterstock ads on their website is done by a malware or a virus, try cleaning your browser and scan your pc ... I also say do not reply to this forum or else you will inject it here too.

I was going through this article today
http://www.onehourprofessor.com/getty-images-demand-letter-getty-images-lawsuit/

and saw how getty images gave a threatening letter of lawsuit against the person who used image without a proper license.

There are lot many images which are downloaded without a proper license or illegally. I really want that all agencies should work for the contributors and give a strict warning or sue them for illegal usage. This will prevent the damage and will increase the sales too.

I also recommend everyone to always buy a proper licences and be safe.

I am also facing missing keywords and sometimes missing files

Shutterstock.com / Re: Are reviewers for real or bots?
« on: October 05, 2016, 05:27 »
From yesterday almost all my vectors are reviewed in minutes and rejected with absolutely inconsistent reasons.
I have tried to upload the same file three times and every time it has been rejected with completely different reasons.

At the fourth time all has been accepted

Is the crazy inspector back again?

same happened to me, fourth time and accepted all.
but I still worry to re-submit it so many times as at the end of the day they will send of warning for too much re-submission.

Shutterstock.com / Are reviewers for real or bots?
« on: October 04, 2016, 11:01 »
My few vectors were rejected due to reason of
Spelling / Grammar -- Image and/or metadata contains spelling or grammatical errors.

I have double checked the files and spellings are correct. I couldn't find what is the problem. Regarding grammar, I am not any english professor, though I think what I write is good and understandable.
In vectors, we display text as a dummy form, the buyers usually replaces them with their version.

Has anyone faced such issue before? Are the reviewers real or bots?

Shutterstock.com / Re: JPG upload error in SS
« on: October 03, 2016, 06:51 »
Solved, with chrome navigator is OK, the error was with Microsoft edge

via web upload:
"We can't accept the following files because we don't support that file type:"
all jpg files with same error

and via ftp, the half of images are mising, and the other lost the keywords and titles :(

somebody more with same problems?

I am also facing same issues with ftp and web
but I could not understand what solution you found.

Maybe you need to select illustration option check mark

illustration categories already selected on the site also, there have no checkmark, I dont understand which checmark do oyu mention about?

oh, ok
did you tried contacting them? what did they say coz for me I think you are doing it correctly.

yes, I ve contated them via mail and still waiting a logical reason but... I don't think I would get a satisfying answer.... They seem to be looking for a ridiculous reasons for image rejection.

I understand. Once I also emailed them and heard back after a month. They have very busy support team.

General Stock Discussion / Re: StockSubmitter alternative?
« on: September 26, 2016, 22:40 »
Thinking for the microstock, everyone knows that the the market is declining and earnings are going down.

Microstock market is very unlikely declining :) Average revenue per contributor maybe though. I think many vector designers and photographers should ask Stocksubmitter developer (Niakris on Stocksubmitter forum here) to divide video and photo/vector submission prices since it's too obvious that they earn different money on average.

I agree, I hope that Niakris look at this forum and thinks for revising the pricing.

« on: September 25, 2016, 23:54 »
Thanks for your reply, this software is no doubt great but when I was looking at their pricing, to me it look over-priced
I was looking for unlimited upload plan which costed EUR 60 / month or $810 USD if I look for 1 year subscription.

Now that's overprice (what I think), I am basically a vector designer and even the Adobe CC subscription for Illustrator is less. Thinking for the microstock, everyone knows that the the market is declining and earnings are going down. So charging so much money for subscription is too much for any individual. I have few 1000s of files which I have to upload in various agencies and maximum agencies perform poorly. Say my depositphotos earning for 1 year is around $60 even I have ~3k files.
I understand that lot of development is put in and its really an amazing tool for speeding the process and I really want to use it if they lower their prices.

« on: September 22, 2016, 11:44 »
First time in 5 years that I am seeing a pattern of slow decline on SS. Not sure what to make of it yet - Adobe Stock taking sales? More people using free images? Or simply sheer amount of accepted images each week diluting sales?

Perhaps all of the above...

I am seeing good progress with fotolia as well as shutterstock too now.

And who said more people use free images? All news agencies, channels, good bloggers, entertainment sectors, professional companies, film makers etc. only go for a licensed image and not the free ones.
