According to his doctor, he is taking statins. That crap messes you up. The brain uses 25% of the cholesterol your liver produces. Statins stop your liver from making cholesterol. Guess what happens to your brain...alzheimers. Guess what happens to your muscles and nerves. Pretty soon you cant walk.

This is not true.  There is a small but significant chance of very serious side effects - e.g., neuropathy of various kinds and liver damage - but the incidence is very low and those mainly appear in people who are not like Trump (female, small body size, drinking too much).  Statins actually may protect against Alzheimer's, although the data are not clear on that.  Trump's problems are very unlikely to be due to taking statins - to me it looks much more like the early symptoms of dementia.  Here is a list of early symptoms (https://www.healthline.com/health/dementia/early-warning-signs) - Trump exhibits all of them at various times, most people his age show none of them.  Trump's father had Alzheimer's and his poor diet and lack of exercise increases his risk.  Reagan clearly had symptoms of Alzheimer's by the beginning of his second term and possibly earlier, Trump is showing the same already.

LOL You are so, so very wrong.

Trump comes across as a complete idiot.  I'm sure there's several things mentally wrong with him but the fact that he couldn't walk up and down a few steps, without clinging on to Theresa May, makes me think he has a physical problem as well.  He also talks like he's on drugs, not the ones that make you happy.  I'm surprised he hasn't been impeached yet, surely can't be long now?

And yet other research suggests statins can PREVENT Alzheimer's.

LOL. You are reading the wrong research.

**** OLD THREAD ALERT!!!!!  *****

Huh?! You just posted an old thread alert on a thread thats 3 years old?

 ;D

P.S. why is an old thread alert an ALERT!!! are old threads in danger of starting a nuclear conflict?  :o

Someone named charliegnomes was spamming all these old threads, thats why Stan posted those alerts, but it looks like all the spammy posts are gone. So Stans comments now look out of context.

stockastic - FOX is blasting trump on this one

You mean FOX actually hit a limit?   But surely Hannity is still loyal.

I dont know details because I only have OTA TV, but I listened to nbc news a little today and they said Hannity was defending Trump, and the other analysts lit into him. So sounds like some of FOX hit a limit, but Hannity is still loyal.

In case Americans don't know, he advised our PM to "sue the EU" over the Brexit that the majority of the UK (not Scotland or NI) voted for, but didn't give any grounds (as there aren't any) for her to do so. Eejit.

We know. #traitor

He committed treason today and needs to go NOW!

So, two months after the original post, how many people pulled their ports?

None, because $1.50 is better than nothing.  ;D

It sounds like they are a company you dont want to deal with anyway. It isnt your responsibility to process credit card payments, its theirs. If they are accepting fraudulent payments, thats on them, not you. Closing your store for that reason is just stupid. I second the idea of trying to get the money you are owed, then just be glad you are out of there.

863
We are talking about overall good business ethics, not sales.

864
Yes, that is what I hate about people constantly complaining about a site. Their famous line is I am not going to be giving them any more of my images. So the stock sites business ethics are so disgusting that they will complain and complain and complain, but they will still let the site continue to stick it to them. They dont want to give up those pennies, because after all, a penny is better than nothing right? Even if they suck, right?
Which of the micros do you feel has overall good business ethics? (remembering that this is a microstock site, so don't name macros)
IMO, none of them.
And we all have shown that we each have different levels of what we are prepared to tolerate. Or different 'issues' make us more angry than others feel about that issue.

I think Adobe is doing a pretty decent job. Mat Hayward is always around to help, my royalties are mostly 3x more than any others have been (as in $.99 per image vs. say $.33.) Since Adobe bought Fotolia, there hasnt been any drama there, as far as I know.

865
I dont hate them. In fact, right now I am loving them. I got a request for an extended license yesterday. My royalty is $100+. It is showing in my earnings, my fingers are crossed that it makes it to payout. I havent seen an extended license for awhile. I am down to 2 sites...SS and Adobe. I am happy with both of them. Of course I would love it if I made a lot more $$, but thats partly on me. I could work harder.

moved back, spam reported to Leaf

I did that as well.

867
You can proofread before hitting send on that phone. 😀

There was a new post by a newbie containing a whole bunch of non-related-to-microstock links. I was going to move it to the garbage bin and report it to leaf, but it moved the fair use thread instead, and I dont see the other post at all now. My apologies. I have sent a message to Leaf explaining. Site hacked again?

871
I can't hate them as much as istock because they still pay me much more than istock ever did.  What I hate more is the people that constantly complained about istock, while doing nothing about it.  Some people were probably complaining here while they were uploading.  Many of us stopped uploading, deleted images and eventually closed our accounts.  That was the only way to hurt istock and at least make the other sites give us a bit more respect.

The funny thing is, two of the things most complained about is the massive numbers of contributors now, and the lack of decent sales. So if you dump a site altogether, you arent actually losing all that much money, are you?

This is an interesting conversation. Over the last few years I've seen a lot of people selling stock photos from their own websites and they seem to be doing quite well. The ones that I've seen, mainly focus on images for creative business owners and women entrepreneurs and they rely heavily on social media marketing to make sales. The owner of TwigyPosts has said that she makes over $100,000 per year.

Here are links to a few of the websites I'm talking about:

https://twigyposts.com/

Not impossible to do. How many people work for her? How many total images does she have? Where is she located (in terms of overhead)? Social media can be a part of any marketing plan, but I would bet that she didnt build up that business solely by posting on twitter or any other social media site. Lots of people say they make this huge amount of $$ (a bunch here do the same thing), but if her overhead from that $100,000 is $99,000, then she doesnt really make all that much money, does she. Social media is a small part of a big marketing picture. You cant just post pictures on instagram and expect the cash to roll in. If someone has actually done it that way, I would love to hear, and see proof. Just my opinion, tho, based on 30+ years of self-employment, and 14+ years of microstock.

I agree with you cathyslife. Jana at TwigyPosts doesn't have anyone working for her and says the over $100,000 is what she keeps. Her sales come in large part from Instagram but I'm sure she has a marketing strategy and works hard at it. I struggle with social media marketing but it seems that's where a lot of the younger folks are finding success.

Is all of that financial information on her website? If not, how are you privy to it? I remain suspect.

That is why we have digital marketing for business. in this digital age, we dont need to wait people to approach us, internet is a good means to approach people what we sell..You will not make a good business if you just wait being approach..

You are forgetting one thing...along with this wonderful digital age comes people who think anything they find on the internet is free for the taking. If your 22k instagram followers love your work, they will simply steal that photo to use in their timeline, or wherever. Out of 22k followers, I would think at least 1, if at all interested in actually buying an image they like, would have contacted you. They wont because most dont believe in paying. There have been others posting here in the past few years or so who have asked the same question. The people who get good response from any social media are those contributors who built up a following from selling their photos. They use social media to keep images in front of their already-buyers, not to recruit buyers in the first place. But if you can convert ANY % of those 22k instagram followers into actual buyers, then good for you. If you watermark everything you post to social media, then use it to direct buyers to your site, you might be able to convert a few. Marketing your own site is a full-time job and then some. If you are willing to invest the time, then social media will just be another part of the process. Social media is just that...a social place to gather.

As long as there are books, newsletters, magazines, etc. being printed, there will be a market for microstock. As long as people are building websites, theres a market for microstock. Someone is going to make money, just not the contributor. Thats what entrepreneurship is nowadays...find a big bunch of people to do your work for you and pay them peanuts and treat them like shite while you make millions. Gone are the days of everyone making a fair wage at a company and being considered family.
We are suppliers though and I think throughout history they have never been treated better than the laws of supply and demand dictate ;-).

Pretty sure you know what I mean.  ;)  My main point is that there is a market for microstock.
