Highest number of sales of the year and two good sales meant August was my second top month of 2019 and better than Aug 18 and (narrowly) Aug 17, meaning it was only my third worst Aug since Aug 2007, when I was only exclusive for half of the month. Woo-hoo. But it is all dependent on getting some decent-value Getty sales, which isn't usual for me nowadays. And it's only 32% of my best August (2011). One refund from a sale made in January, not connected to these large numbers of Canva refund/resales. (Via DM, I see I've never made a sale via Canva. Is this a record?) Slightly curious/worried about these two sales on the same file, on the same day, of a file which hasn't sold since April, and not that often before then: https://www.dropbox.com/s/huj7bp28ytibmna/dichotomy.jpg?dl=0

A question, maybe someone knows: Do i get my money, if i close my account and did not reach the payout limit?
Yes, unless they've changed that policy recently. As Jo Anne said, best check with support.

iS sends out requests. Most go to exclusives, but a few go to indies as well. These are usually pretty expensive to set up and/or very specialised.

Oh what excitement. Highest number of sales of the year, but have I got lucky in the Big Getty Sales wheel of fortune? or is it a worsening rpd? Good luck, everyone

As mine viewpoint, it has Yes I started at 2013 but has not any sale until 2017, it comes two sales. After the long time consuming key-wording and tags procedure in 2018-9 i sell regularly and my average earning per download is 23$
$23 gross or net?

Why would a buyer ever need to make a print of an easyjet airplane?
I can think of LOTs of reasons. Maybe a travel agency? Maybe a tour operator? Maybe a local Chamber of Commerce pushing for people to come visit their island? I'm sure I could come with half a dozen others if I wanted to spend the time to think about it...
I'm not sure why you are NOT able to come up with uses?
The examples you mentioned are NOT Personal Uses. That license category is meant for a singular person who wants to print an image to hang on the wall, for example, or make a Christmas card for the family. Things like that
Your examples refer to companies, not a person, making a commercial use of the image. Even if it's decoration of the store it's a commercial use.
You are totally correct, these examples are all commerical and not covered by personal use. It's 'just about' possible that e.g. the arranger of a hen/stag weekend might use the picture on invitations, but why wouldn't they just use a pic from the EasyJet website? It's not as though EJ would complain!

Try the Deep Meta thread on the iS forums. Franky is super-helpful. Firstly, as Charged suggested, check you have the most recent version of DM.

His income was approaching $10 million per year at one point, a long time ago. https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/62163-10-million-dollars-a-year-in-sight-for-yuri-arcurs/
Indeed that was a long time ago the question is where is he now...people have lost more than that before by making unwise investments/business decisions...I still don't think anyone has posted anything that shows what he is up to at the moment.
Probably, none of us are his confidantes, and even if we were, we'd be keeping his business confidential, by definition. It may be that we can infer something from the post announcing he was reducing all prices on his own site, and that apparently (?) the retouching side of his business has either ceased or certainly isn't being heavily plugged nowadays.

That said, the extra effort required to get new techniques, locations, topics may not be worth it if you sell an image for $0.20 or a video for $0.6.
+100 Especially as most things not well covered or oversaturated have limited buyer interest, so pointless in Micro. I'm sure there are some desirable niches to find, but not many, and I suspect most of them would be very difficult and/or expensive to get pemission to shoot.

Maybe it only shows if you HAD adjustments.
Mine only shows two. One return and one addition. They both sort of cancel each other out.
Yeah, maybe the tab only shows when you have an adjustment. In your case, Probably the buyer bought the wrong license accidentally, hence the + and
Yebbut they are different images. Plus one is almost two years older than the other.
Still could be adjustments for mistakes in license purchase.
True, sorry.

There is minus as well as plus in your list.
Yup, that's what he said. One return and one addition.

Surely SEO includes the iStock 'search engine'? I'd be highly surprised if titles and descriptions didn't factor into search results.
They claim titles and descriptions (the latter of which don't even show on the file pages of non-editorial images, crazily) are for external search engines only and don't feature in their internal search. In my tiny-scale testing, only on my own files, I have found this to be the case. There have been a few people over the last couple of years who have suggested otherwise, but I haven't so far found their theories to be plausible. Not to say that isn't so. However, there are some 'internal' CV mappings which are 'invisible' to us, both on uploading and subsequently, and some of them give 'surprising' results.

A company in another city needed photos of a hospital in Sydney. They advertised online for someone to shoot the hospital by showing sample tumbnails of the hospital with Alamy and Getty watermarks. To get someone in Sydney to go to shoot the hospital was cheaper than buying 6 photos from Alamy or Getty.
Wasn't that mis-use of the watermarked images?

@OP, why not check out the Alamy reporting threads? There's one every month and the thread for August sales is here: https://discussion.alamy.com/topic/11948-how-was-your-august-2019Of course, only a very tiny proportion of Alamy contributors post in that thread, but you can get an idea. From reading these threads, Live News can do well, and NA sales average higher values than UK sales (which isn't suprising for RM at least as they can have much larger print runs).

I just did the math for my Alamy account. It was must better than I would have thought. I have been on Alamy for eight years. The average sale for eight years was 43 dollars per sale. So yes, Alamy is OK.....
Gross or net?

If you're not on any other stock sites, can you list images as "exclusive" with Alamy and still sell them as art prints on PODs?
Yes.

Who upload on Pixabay images and videos and gives them away for free?
All the people who choose to do so. Too many to provide you with a list of names, you'll need to check Pixabay out for that information.

Again, I hear you, however we get plenty of contributors asking us to allow more space for tags as they feel 50 is not enough. So for some, getting to 40 tags is really not a problem, even when adding highly relevant words - literal, descriptive and conceptual.
Are you checking all of those who ask? Usually when people have brought this up in Alamy's forum, their efforts to reach 50 words has left them with a lot of spam keywords. It's not the person, it's the image. I have about 1% of my pics in the green, naturally, because these pics need alternate keywords or many place names (local going back to country), but most don't. Even Alamy's own 'exemplar' video has 16 keywords - though I remember a discussion on the forum which suggested that at least another three were relevant and important. The more keywords you have, the more scope for malgorithms from combining/splitting random keywords (also with words in the caption).

<tangent> What does "I am long Adobe" mean? I'm guessing they are in favour of Adobe / have shares in Adobe, but I don't know that construct.

and i have yet to find a DAM that doesn't sort keywords in alphabetic order, whether you want it or not.
It may not suit your workflow, but I keyword in Bridge which holds and exports them in the order I set them to be.
