Congratulations! So, is 10 - 15% the normal mark up? I have no idea what to add to their prices.

Master Steve has some useful tips on pricing at FAA:

http://www.backyardsilver.com/2013/01/fine-art-america-a-new-way-to-earn-cash-from-digital-photos/

As well as some follow-up articles.

Hope that's helpful.

Alex

Which specialized midstock agencies would recommend for my travel, lifestyle and landscape photos?

You're welcome. :)

I would recommend looking into:

- 4Corners (for travel)
- Addictive Stock for lifestyle (just wrote a detailed review of them on my blog, link below)
- Blend Images (lifestyle and travel)
- Robert Harding (for travel)
- Trevillion for lifestyle

Most of the above are exclusive, so it becomes tricky playing favourites if you do decide to sign up to more than one of them. It's more about whether they fit into your style and if you're happy with the royalty rates.

Then there's some more generic images which you can decide to put on micros, everywhere and RF.

Good luck

I've put together a detailed review of Addictive Stock, including a short Q&A with Founder and CEO, Victor Torres:

Hi Radisa,

Welcome. You have some impressive surrealist fine art images - beautiful stuff. I don't know if others would agree but those don't belong in microstock (just look at the prices you're charging and you're considering putting them out for sub downloads??!!). Look into specialist Midstock agencies.

I would recommend looking into Print on Demand agencies, as well as brick and mortar galleries that fit your style:

Best of luck

Oh God, client not happy with a (micro)sub download...says a lot about some of their clients as it does about that agency. Another one to go down the ImageBrief road soon...

that's why there are literally thousand of producers from this country.

Lets not overlook the "fact" that Ukraine has the most "beautiful" women in the world. All too willing to be models for a fraction of the cost in London, Paris, Milan, etc

This year, 8 sales for me for $110 gross on 6,000 images.

What else to do but to keep uploading quality and tagging in the "Alamy method"?

Here's a link to my port on there...

It's a nice site but it seems to be going down ImageBrief's direction unless management there can do something extraordinary

911
Interesting poll.

As for what I consider my "best images", unfortunately they rarely translate in being the most profitable.

I beg to differ! I believe that "these types of comments" are positive for successful contributors.
It is positive to advise others to resist the urge to brag about their successful methods, because good ideas spread fast, especially when published in books and blogs.

I fully understand your interest, as a book author, to extract successful ideas from others, but "others" must realise that they will lose their competitive advantage, through too much sharing. Play one's cards close to one's chest!

I also expect you to understand my "brutally honest" advice to "others" and I can even grant you the right to publish it in your book.  ;)

Fair enough. No plans for another book for a while, licensing images is much more profitable!

I don't think that anything I publish / divulge is going to have a massive impact to make our market more competitive. It's not like I'm publishing the formula to turn copper into gold. Same with others, I suppose. I'm far from being successful at Alamy, although I'm making strives.

The Alamy forum is open to the public and they've been discussing pseudos and strategies ad nauseum, which is how I got the idea in the first place. Anybody is free to search there for answers if they have enough patience. Some of the guys posting on there have portfolios with over 100k images and 10 years experience on Alamy alone.

Stopped uploading them. Seems pointless, even too lazy to recover my password after they asked me to confirm my account upon going to another country.

I've just been accepted and thinking hard whether to commit. Going exclusive is always a gamble especially with a newcomer.

The 60% gross is confusing at best and misleading at worse.

For those who considered Stocksy and were not successful this may be an interesting alternative for premium non-micro images.

AS are promoting them: https://blog.fotolia.com/us/2016/04/28/addictive-stock-creatives-a-new-producer-of-stock-in-spain-is-born/

I have identified a great method, leading to many more sales, but I'm "brutally honest": this is not something I share with my competition  ;)

Is this positive enough?  :D

These types of comments don't contribute to a (positive) discussion.

Hope your "great method" continues to be successful.

It's a sad day when a photographer thinks $1K+ for an image is "ridiculous."

I'm referring specifically to ImageBrief.

Look at this relatively generic brief, for $500/image. Really? How many of these types of images are there on Micros available for subs?

Pond5 / Re: Is it worth it to upload photographs to Pond5?
« on: March 01, 2018, 12:31 »
I've uploaded like 100 pics with them and getting some views but no sales yet. Perhaps if you already have a strong footage portfolio there some clients will see some of the images? Anybody can confirm this?

922
Just wish I didn't waste my time submitting to those 41 briefs of which only 6 were awarded (15%). That and some of those ridiculous prices for single images (+$1k) made me highly suspicious of their flawed business model.

Thanks for the link, Steve. I just quickly published a follow-up article:

Now my eye is on Snapwire...perhaps they'll be the next ones to fold.

Alamy.com / Adopting Alamy Pseudos to Improve Keyword Rankings
« on: February 28, 2018, 09:58 »
Hey all,

I published a short article on my experience of using different Pseudos in Alamy with the aim of improving SE image rankings.

Summary: Alamy offers every contributor the opportunity to effectively create different sub-accounts in the form of pseudonyms. One theory is that by using different pseudos, you may ultimately improve your own image search engine rankings.

Anybody have much experience with this method? Any other tips to improve CTRs?

https://brutallyhonestmicrostock.com/2018/02/27/adopting-alamy-pseudos-to-improve-keyword-rankings/

Looking forward to a positive discussion.

Well done for those who got in.

At least my application made me think about improving the quality of my images which in hindsight were probably not strong enough as a set.
